Yesterday, Steve Stockdale, a teacher at Texas Christian University and member of the Star-Telegram Community Columnist Panel, wrote a S-T guest article But what if ...?
Calling it a “missed opportunity,” the article questions the wisdom of the March decision by the executive committee of TCU's board of trustees to ask Brite Divinity School to move the Rev. Jeremiah Wright awards dinner off campus.
“ . . .Those two weeks began with a discussion about the Rev. Jeremiah Wright controversy and Sen. Barack Obama's speech on race in America. Then we talked about the decision of TCU and Brite Divinity School to move the March 29 portion of the Fourth Annual State of the Black Church Summit off campus. (Brite is on the TCU campus but is an independent institution.) For a year, Brite had planned the summit for the last weekend in March and had a long-standing invitation to Wright to attend and receive an award recognizing his 40 years of service to his church and ministry.”
With the twisted rhetoric that only a seasoned leftist semantics teacher could master, Stockdale called the decision “self-congratulatory” while following-up with “It was a good call – prudent if not profound.”
“With Wright's explosive emergence on the national airwaves, it would be understandable for Fort Worth and TCU to embrace in a collective, self-congratulatory sigh of relief for not letting that circus come to this town! It was a good call -- prudent if not profound.”
Stockdale was looking for something more profound. So he invited some TCU insiders to share the decision making process with his class. Stockdale’s class would focus on “the history of racism in America.” Well, not exactly the entire history of racism in America. His focus certainly didn’t include the more recent history of Black racism in America as typified by the good “Rev.” Jeremiah Wright.
“We learned something about the history of racism in America by viewing clips from Todd Larkins' documentary The N Word: Divided We Stand and segments from the PBS series on the civil rights movement, Eyes on the Prize.
We studied the distinction between the words people use and their behavior. Is it more appropriate to examine a person's behavior within a specific context or environment rather than focus on whether this word or that word is used? Do actions speak louder than words? What if the action is nothing but words?” (emphasis added by me)
Let me interject here a quote from Obama’s infamous “Just Words” speech that he “borrowed” from Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick when he was running for office two years ago:
“Don’t tell me words don’t matter,” Obama said. “‘I have a dream.’ Just words? ‘We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal.’ Just words? ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself.’ Just words? Just speeches?”
But I digress. Here’s more of the balanced educational fare Stockdale offered to his class:
“In The N Word, rapper Chuck D recognizes this distinction between word and behavior: "Words are words, but what comes right after the word is the activity. And the activity of being treated like a nigger is always in the air."
We listened to the song You've Got to Be Carefully Taught from the musical South Pacific. We heard that children must be taught to be afraid "of people whose eyes are oddly made, and people whose skin is a different shade .... to hate all the people your relatives hate."
To conclude our discussion on the controversy surrounding this event, I invited Star-Telegram columnist Bob Ray Sanders and University Christian Church's senior minister Tim Carson, one of Brite's trustees, to talk with the class. On April 3, we were fortunate to hear their unique "insider" perspectives.”
Somehow I doubt that Stockdale actually played any “in context” clips from Wright’s infamous 9/11 sermon for his class, or even provided an “in context” transcript for his rhetoric class to dissect. Wouldn’t that have been a novel idea considering that Wright’s sermon was the focus of the class study of racism in America?

Stockdale concludes his article with an admonishment that Fort Worth and TCU gave up the opportunity for a national conversation about race . . . if only Wright had been given a receptive, respectful venue.
"But what if ...? What if the original plans for March 29 had been kept? What might these students have learned if the TCU trustees' executive committee had heeded those oft-stated calls for a national conversation about race? What if that conversation had actually begun here, in Fort Worth, on March 29?
What if Wright had been given a receptive, respectful venue at which he could respond to the public condemnations hurled at him? What might he have said then, rather than what he has pronounced after stewing in his self-imposed silence for another month? (ephasis added by me)
This community had an opportunity to go beyond talking about talking about race. We could have started the conversation. Instead, we passed to avoid the front page, content to be merely a footnote.
Those who write history will determine whether this fortnight was just another two weeks in just another year, or whether it helped usher in a new season in the great American experiment of self-governance.
Or maybe this fortnight was just another two weeks of a 400-year winter that might never graduate to spring.”
Ok, so how does the above article relate to the title of today’s blog? We have to make a few assumptions about Stockdale. First, the article makes it fairly clear that Stockdale doesn’t believe that Wright is a racist. Clearly Stockdale isn’t even remotely moderate in this thinking. Second, Stockdale believes that Wright should have received a receptive and respectful venue at TCU. Third, Stockdale totally ignores Obama’s own words about the importance of words. Fourth, Stockdale ignores Obama’s distancing himself from Wright. Fifth, if Stockdale doesn’t support Obama, what presidential candidate would Stockdale support given his far left stance?
Most conservatives, independents, and even moderates would have to conclude that if Stockdale is still ranting in support of Wright, other Obama supporters probably share his stance. Do they actually believe that Obama distanced himself from Wright? Or more to the point, don’t they really believe that Obama was just using “words” in political double-speak context to distance himself from Wright when in fact Obama may feel otherwise?
It would appear that Stockdale’s answer to his class can be easily digested by reasoned people. His spin is but the usual leftist political excrement.

Reasoned thinkers would say “No” as they are left to wonder if Obama doesn’t actually share Stockdale’s perspective. History will determine whether Obama’s words were fortnight or merely IN CONTEXT political spin!
“Just words???” Thanks to Stockdale for reminding us!
During his interview with Tim Russert on Meet the Press Sunday May 4th, Obama stated three different times that (1) “It’s a wonderful church . . .”, and later (2) “I feel a great loyalty to that church . . .”, and even later, (3)“I am proud of my church and am committed to the values of that church.” Yet Russert never brought up questions about Obama’s new pastor, the good “Rev”. Otis Moss, nor did he question the long-time Black racist values of Obama’s beloved church.
Obama’s new pastor, “Rev.” Otis Moss, says that Obama’s church is “at war with the enemy.”And it would appear that “the enemy” is anyone who isn’t a black victim.

It’s hard to imagine why Russert failed to push harder for answers from Obama considering that national polls now show that Obama’s values are of great concern to the majority of Americans!
According to the Rasmussen national telephone survey, “Fifty-six percent (56%) say it’s at least somewhat likely that Obama “shares some of Pastor Wright’s controversial views about the United States.” That figure includes 26% who say it’s Very Likely Obama holds such views. At the other end of the spectrum 24% say it’s Not Very Likely that Obama shares such views. Just 11% say it’s Not at All Likely. . . Eighty-one percent (81%) of all voters are following the story somewhat or very closely.”

Obama’s new pastor likens “Blacks” to leapers but who exactly are his “enemies”? You decide!
In March of 2007, I wrote an article expressing grave concerns about Obama’s Liberation Theology church and his controversial pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Last year few Americans, other than Theologians or graduates from left-leaning seminaries such as Brite Divinity School, even knew about Liberation Theology.
The following republished article exposed the truth about Jeremiah Wright’s church and quotes from the works of James H. Cone, one of the primary authors of Black Liberation Theology. Additionally provided are some important points about the grave dangers of Liberation Theology written in 1984 by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI).
Note: This article isn’t so much about religion as it is about the politics of political revolution as fomented in all Liberation Theology churches.

Obama’s pastor, Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, continued to evade Hannity while he hammered away asking again and agin if Hannity had ever read James H. Cone, one of the primary authors of Black Liberation Theology.
Oddly enough, I just happen to have several of Cone’s works on hand. Here’s just a little from Cone’s classic book A Black Theology of Liberation (Twentieth Anniversary Edition):

The definition of Jesus as black is crucial for christology if we truly believer in his continued presence today. Taking our clue from the historical Jesus who is pictured in the New Testament as the Oppressed One, what else, except blackness, could adequately tell us the meaning of his presence today? Any statement about Jesus today that fails to consider blackness as the decisive factor about his person is a denial of the New Testament message. The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus reveal that he is the man for others, disclosing to them what is necessary for their liberation from oppression. If this is true, then Jesus Christ must be black so that blacks can know that their liberation is his liberation. . .
The black Christ is he who threatens the structure of evil as seen in white society, rebelling against it, thereby becoming the embodiment of what the black community knows that it must become. . .
To be a disciple of the black Christ is to become black with him. Looting, burning, or the destruction of white property are not primary concerns.Such matters can only be decided by the oppressed themselves who are seeking to develop their images of the black Christ. . .
Whites do not recognize what is happening, and they are thus unable to deal with it. For most whites in power, the black community is a nuisance –something to be considered only when the natives get restless. But what white America fails to realize is the explosive nature of the kingdom. Although its beginning is small, it will have far-reaching effects not only on the black community but on the white community as well. Now is the time to make decisions about loyalties, because soon it will be too late. Shall we or shall we not join the black revolutionary kingdom?
An excellent overview of the grave dangers of Liberation Theology was written in 1984 by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI).
Here are some of the important points Ratzinger makes about Liberation Theology:
1. Liberation Theology has it center of power in Latin America and in African Theology, but is found in many Christian denominations throughout the Third World.
2. Liberation Theology is a new interpretation of Christian reality.
3. Liberation Theology is radically Marxist. “ . . .the world must be interpreted in terms of the class struggle and that the only choice is between capitalism and Marxism.”
4. Liberation Theology thrives on perpetuating class struggle. The only people of the Church are those who participate in class struggle.
5. Liberation Theology is a theology of bloody political revolution. All of Christian reality is reduced to politico-social liberation praxis (action).
6. Liberation Theology rejects traditional scriptural interpretations. “The experience of the "community" determines the understanding and the interpretation of Scripture. . . Ultimately, what is normative for interpretation is not historical research but the hermeneutic of history experienced in the community or the political group.”
7. Liberation Theology makes the Bible subject to a Marxist view of history. “The "historicality" of the Bible must justify its absolute dominance and thus legitimize the' transition to materialist-marxist philosophy, in which history has taken over the role of God. . . historical criticism has loosed Scripture from the traditional interpretation, which now appears to be unscientific.
8. Liberation Theology is a threat to the faith of the Christian Church.
Here Ratzinger analyzes some of the central concepts of Liberation Theology: Faith: Jesus' experience of God is radically historical. "His faith is transformed into fidelity." Thus faith is fundamentally replaced by "fidelity to history". . .
Hope is interpreted as "confidence in the.future" and as working for the future and thus is subordinated once more to the history of class conflict. . .
Love consists in the "option for the poor"; i.e., it coincides with opting for the class struggle. . .
Kingdom of God: “ . .the Kingdom must not be understood in a spiritualist or universalist manner, not in the sense of an abstract eschatological eventuality. It must be understood in partisan terms and with a view to praxis. The meaning of the Kingdom can only be defined by reference to the praxis of Jesus, not theoretically: it means working at the historical reality that surrounds us in order to transform it into the Kingdom.”
Overcoming Dualism “Here we must mention another basic idea of a particular postconciliar theology which has led in this direction. People said that after the Council every dualism must be overcome: the dualism of body and soul, of natural and supernatural, of this world and the world beyond, of then and now. Once these supposed dualisms had been eliminated, it only remained to work for a kingdom to be realized in present history and in politicoeconomic reality. This meant, however, that one had ceased to work for the benefit of people in this present time and had begun to destroy the present in the interests of a supposed future: thus the real dualism had broken loose.”
Note: The above explanation of overcoming dualism certainly gives us some insight into the suicidal nature of leftist thought!
Death and Resurrection: “ . . . Man has taken over God's gesture — this manifests the whole transformation of the biblical message in an almost tragic way . . .”
Eucharist is interpreted as a celebration of liberation in the sense of politico-messianic hope and praxis.
The word redemption is largely replaced by liberation, which is seen, against the background of history and the class struggle, as a process of progressive liberation.
Action is truth “. . . The only true orthodoxy is therefore orthopraxy.”
Ratzinger’s Summary In trying to arrive at an overall evaluation it must be said that, if one accepts the fundamental assumptions which underlie liberation theology, it cannot be denied that the whole edifice has an almost irresistible logic. By adopting the position of biblical criticism and of a hermeneutics that grows through experience, on the one hand, and of the marxist analysis of history, on the other, liberation theologians have succeeded in creating a total picture of the Christian reality, and this total view seems to respond fully both to the claims of science and to the moral challenges of our time, urging people to make Christianity an instrument of concrete world transformation; it seems to have united Christianity, in this way, with all the "progressive forces" of our era. One can understand, therefore, that this new interpretation of Christianity should have exercised an increasing fascination over theologians, priests and religious, particularly against the background of Third World problems. To say "no" to it must seem to them to be a flight from reality as well as a denial of reason and morality. On the other hand, if one considers how radical this reinterpretation of Christianity is, it is all the more pressing to find the right answer to the challenge which it presents. We shall only survive this crisis if we succeed in making the logic of faith visible in an equally compelling manner and in presenting it as a logic of reality, i.e., manifesting the concrete force of a better answer attested in lived experience. Since it is so, since thought and experience, interpretation and realization, are equally called for, it is a task for the whole Church. Theology alone is insufficient, Church authority alone is insufficient. Since the phenomenon of liberation theology indicates a lack of conversion in the Church, a lack of radical faith, only an increase in conversion and faith can arouse and elicit those theological insights and those decisions on the part of the shepherds which will give an answer to the magnitude of the question.

Twelve hours ago CBS 11, Dallas, Texas published an article: “Obama's Former Pastor Calls TCU A Godless College.” If you click on the link, however, you will find that the page has suddenly been removed.
It would appear that although most of the national news media and pundits both left and right have labeled Wright’s latest comments as egocentric and harmful to Obama, CBS 11 Dallas has chosen sides and Wright has won this battle - at least in Dallas. This is not a good omen for Obama!

Contrary to media reports, Jeremiah Wright hasn’t been in self-imposed exile since Obama distanced himself from Wright’s anti-American and racist remarks. On the contrary, Wright has continued his whirlwind speaking tour across America. Friday he was interviewed by Bill Moyers of PBS, Sunday he delivered two sermons at Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, where he finally received a belated award from Brite Divinity School (see previous articles below), then he flew to Detroit to address the NAACP, and this morning his gave another self-gratification speech to the National Press Club.
So what’s up with Wright?
To summarize Juan Williams’s assessment on Fox TV following Wright’s speech this morning, Wright is saying “If you are attacking me, you are attacking the Black Church.”
Yesterday, Wright said that he was being “crucified.” Today the Black Church is being crucified.
Williams went on to observe that Wright never explained his inflammatory statements. “It was all about ego and self-gratification for Wright. . . Wright isn’t looking out for Obama. . .It’s all about Wright and Black Theology.” Williams said that Wright “Is playing racially divisive politics. You don’t hear that from the Black Pulpit. It’s not typical.”
I watched the entire speech and the Q&A session following the speech. His speech lasted less than fifteen minutes but it was packed full of inflammatory quotes that should come back to haunt Wright as well as continue to plague Obama. Another 20-30 minutes were devoted to answering pre-screened questions.
Here’s the gist of the speech:
Wright said that he will be opening a two day symposium of Black Theologians, scholars, and social workers etc., and said that Obama has called for a dialog on the Black Church. He opened his speech by referring to the media’s playing of the “out of context” sound bites saying, “It’s not an attack on Jeremiah Wright. It is an attack on the Black Church.”
Then Wright went into a brief history of the Black Church in America and attempted to distinguish his “Prophetic Theology of the Black Church” from James Cones’ “Black Liberation Theology.” What are the differences? Basically none except that Wright’s theology goes beyond “white supremacy” to the prophets of the Old Testament. He hinges his theology on the 61st chapter of Isaiah and on Luke 4.
According to Wright, his theology is a theology of liberation, transformation, and “ultimately, reconciliation.” Why did he insert the word “ultimately”? According to Wright, the white church in Europe and North America is a “theology of white supremacy.”
Here’s a summary of Wright’s speech concerning what whites have to do in order to become reconciled to the Black church in America.
God’s desire is for a radical change in a social order that has gone astray. God’s desire is for a radical transformation. This is the heart of Liberation Theology. What must we do in order to become reconciled? “Children of God repenting for past sins against one another.”
Apparently, Wright thinks whites have a long, long way to go before they deserve to be reconciled to the Black Church.
I wonder what kind of additional repentance Wright has in store for Whites? Hint, go listen to Obama’s new pastor’s sermons and, can you spell Reparations and residtribution???
With regard to the “white supremacy” church in America, Wright quoted Dr. William Augustus Jones to explain how one’s theology determines one’s sociology. Really? Can we get permission from Wright to apply that same standard to Obama???
I wonder if Wright considered that if that’s truly the case, then why shouldn’t all Americans have a right to ask Obama to explain his own theology in terms of comparison and contrast to Trinity United Church of Christ and Jeremiah Wright?
The Q&A session offered some hard questions that Wright attempted to turn to his favor.
When asked about the “chickens coming home to roost” post 9/11 sermon he responded:
“Have you heard the whole sermon? (He waits for a response) Well that nullifies that question.” Then Wright went on to say that (1) “I was quoting the ambassador of Iraq,” (2) What Wright said “comes from the Bible”, and (3) “You cannot do terrorism against other people and not expect it to come back on you.”
Asked if he was patriotic and loved Aemrica, Wright said:
“I served six years in the military. Does that make me patriotic?” Then he waved a flimsy salute.
Hummm. Looks like he doesn’t want to give a direct answer on that one.
Wright was asked about his relationship with Louis Farrakhan, the acting head of the Nation of Islam. Wright implied that he had been hurt by his relationship with Farrakhan because Farrakhan has once called Zionism a “gutter religion.” But Wright went on to say, “Farrakhan and I don’t agree on everything. Farrakhan is one of the most important voices in the 20th and 21st centuries. I won’t put down Farrakhan any more than (Nelson) Mandela would put down Castro.”
Asked about Sen. Obama’s disavowal of him, Wright reminded the audience that Obama had not disavowed him just “distanced himself from me because he is a politician.” Wright said that he was downstairs praying with Obama before Obama went upstairs to talk. What does this imply?
When asked about his own motivation, Wright said, “If Obama had not said what he said he would never get elected.” Then Wright added, “I’m not running for office . . .(then with a kidding grin) I’m hoping to be V.P.” As a matter of fact, he said that again at the end of his speech. Interesting, and I bet he’s serious.
Asked about what evil our government is capable of, he said, that based on the Tuskegee experiment, “I believe our government is capable of anything.”
Asked if he likened Israeli policies to apartheid, he denied saying that and said that Israel has a right to exist but needs to sit down and work out a solution – reconciliation.
Wright refused to comment about Bill Clinton and said that “I came to talk about the church not politics.” Funny, he could have fooled me.
Wright was asked how the Black and White church could reconcile. He said that many have already “taken great steps to do so. To reconcile, whites must understand the injustice that was done.”
He would start educating at the earliest levels by using “Infusion curriculum” – telling the true story.
When asked if Islam is the way to salvation, Wright said, “Jesus said, ‘Other sheep have I not of this fold.’”
So what’s Obama to do?
Wright, like a dirty old piece of gum, is permanently stuck to Obama’s shoe. Obama can’t shake him. Granted, Obama hasn’t tried very hard to convince most voters that he’s all that upset with Wright, but why should he? If Obama were to come out even stronger against Wright or his own Black Liberation church, he’d lose the votes of his primary supporters on the left.
Some speculating yesterday on the news had the Obama camp actually redirecting Wright in an attempt to rehabilitate his image. The idea is that if Obama can stop attacks on Wright, he can win the blue collar white votes he badly needs. The only way to do that is to turn this thing on his head. Apparently, the far left is taking the ball and running with it.
Here’s the new spin. To question Wright or Obama is tantamount to white racism!
Hot Dog Anti-American publicity hound Rev. Jeremiah Wright plans to turn the tables on the “white establishment” he so hates. The AP has announced that Wright has cancelled several appearances in Florida and Texas. Wright cites “security issues” for the hosting facilities, for his family, and for himself as his reason for cancelling. But we know better.
Unfortunately for Wright’s case, none of the local police departments in Florida or Texas know of any security issues and have already offered to beef up security for Wright.
Wright, the perpetrator of anti-White racism, is planning on turning himself into the imaginary victim of racism. Clever, don’t you think?
Well it’s likely to work among those who already buy into Wright’s type of perpetual victim-mentality!
The Daily Skiff, TCU’s campus newspaper, is lamenting the fact that the event honoring the “controversial” pastor was moved off campus.

I’ll buy into that logic as soon as TCU invites a white racist like David Duke to be tolerated for an “optional event on a college campus.”
Blackwell, a senior fellow at the Family Research Council, says while Brite Divinity and Wright have the legal right to be theologically wrong, they cannot force anyone to accept their beliefs or institutional decision. Blackwell disagrees with the liberation theology that Wright espouses from the pulpit.
"Liberation theology is a belief system that teaches that biblical phrases such as the Messiah coming to 'set the captives free' speaks to overthrowing government to aid the downtrodden, rather than teaching that freedom comes about by achieving spiritual freedom through an individual relationship with God," Blackwell notes.
He says liberation theology is only practiced by a minority of black churches in America and does not represent orthodox Christianity. "We have a tradition in the African-American church of pursuing social justice [and] of breaking down our walls of exclusion, and I think that is consistent with traditional Christian thought and Christian doctrine," Blackwell says.
Blackwell also contends that liberation theology, as it has been practiced in Latin America and Africa over the past 50 years, "has been advanced by insurgent regimes that have been more about political agendas and collectivist economies than encouraging people to seek an individual relationship with God. . ."
Regarding the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the following exchange of three letters between the writer (name withheld) and Dr. Newell Williams, President of Brite Divinity School, is being published without editing with permission from the writer. Dr. Williams was kind enough to send me a copy of his response to this writer, so I am assuming that he regards it as a response to my letter too. O course, one might assume, and fairly safely, that he only feels comfortable when writing directly to Democrats.
Read the second letter this active Democrat sent in response to Williams. It’s encouraging to know that there are still some Democrats out there who haven’t sold out to the leftist agenda!!!

As a Christian and an active Democrat, I cannot believe the Brite Divinity School associated with Texas Christian University is going forward to honor Jerimiah Wright. Not after the hateful statements made by the pastor have so outraged the public. God Damm America and accusations of blame on our country for spreading aids among blacks must be condemed from the pulpit and by all Christian leaders.Does the pastor have the right to make hateful speeches from his pulpit. Yes, but all of us who love our country and understand the gospel of Jesus, must take a stand against it or what happened in Germany can happen in our own country.
Please do not honor hateful statements. No amount of good deeds can overcome or justify during this ciritical time we face in our country, a Divinity School honoring a man who preaches hate from the pulpit.

Brite would not honor Dr. Wright if we believed that he preaches hate from the pulpit. We believe that this image has been created for one reason only: to embarrass a current candidate for the Democrat nomination for president. Rather than judging Dr. Wright by media clips, we have gone back to the ministers who nominated him for this award, and to others, who have known him for years and worshiped in his congregation on multiple occasions. These ministers represent different denominations and are of diverse races. They are unanimous in reporting that worship in Dr. Wright's church is Biblical, inspiring, and welcoming to all.

An op-ed piece, signed by Dean Nancy Ramsay and Dr. Eugene Brice, Brite trustee and retired minister of University Christian Church, Fort Worth, will appear in tomorrow's Fort Worth Star-Telegram. It seeks to further explain the disconnect between our view of Dr. Wright and the one that, we believe, has been circulated for largely political reasons.

Wright's defenders keep shooting themselves in the feet! An anonymous person provided a link to the "so-called" full text, "IN Context," of Jeremiah Wright's 9/11 speech. I write "so-called" because a less than ten minute Sunday sermon is rather short - especially in a Black church, and in the sermon Wright tells his congregation that God has told him three things to do in response to 9/11, but he never get's past the first thing in this sermon. The video stops rather suddenly.

Transcript of Wright’s 9/11 Sermon “IN Context”
Every public service of worship I have heard about so far in the wake of the American tragedy has had in its prayers and in its preachments sympathy and compassion for those who were killed and for their families, and God’s guidance upon the selected presidents and our war-machine as they do what they got to do - pay backs. There’s a move in Psalm 137 from thoughts of paying tithes to thoughts of paying back. Move if you will from worship to war. A move, in other words from the worship of the God of creation to a war against whom God has created. And I want you to notice, very carefully, the next move. One of the reasons this psalm is rarely read in its entirety. Because it is a move that spotlights the insanity of the cycle of violence and the cycle of hatred.
Look at verse 9, look at verse 9, look at verse 9, “Happy shall they be who take your little ones and dash them against the rocks. The people of faith are the rivers of Babylon. How shall we sing the Lord’s song if I forget the (unintelligible). . .
The people of faith have moved from the hatred of armed enemies, these soldiers who captured the king, who slaughtered his son, they put his eyes out, the soldiers who sacked the city, burned the towns, burned the temples, burned the towers, and moved from the hatred of armed enemies to the hatred of unarmed innocence, the babies, the babies .
“Blessed are they who dash your baby’s brains against a rock.” And that my beloveds is a dangerous place to be. Yet, that is where the people of faith are in 551 BC and that is where the people of faith are, far too many people of faith are in 2001 AD. We have moved from the hatred of armed enemies to the hatred of unarmed innocence. We want revenge. We want paybacks and we don’t care who gets hurt in the process.
Now I-I-I asked the Lord, “What should our response be in light of such an unthinkable act?” But before I share with you what the Lord showed me, I want to give you one of my little faith footnotes. Visitors often get faith footnotes, so that our members don’t lose site of the big picture. Let me give you a little faith foot note. Turn your neighbors say “faith footnote.”
I heard Ambassador Peck on an interview yesterday. Did anybody else see him or hear him? He was on Fox news. This is a White man and he was upsetting the Fox news commentators to no end. He pointed out. You see him John? A White man he pointed out –an Ambassador! He pointed out that what Malcolm X said when he got silenced by Elijah Mohammad was in fact true. America’s Chickens are coming home to roost!
We took this country by terror away from the Sioux, the Apache, the Aroawak, the Comanche, the Arapaho, the Navajo. Terrorism! We took Africans from their country to build our way of ease and kept them enslaved and living in fear. Terrorism! We bombed Grenada and killed innocent babies, non military personnel. We bombed the black civilian community of Panama with stealth bombers and killed unarmed teenagers and toddlers, pregnant mothers and hard-working fathers. We bombed Gadhaffi’s home and killed his child. Blessed are they who bash your children’s head against a rock! We bombed Iraq. We killed unarmed civilians trying to make a living. We bombed a plant in Sudan to payback for the attack on our embassy. Killed hundreds of hard-working people; mothers and fathers who left home to go that day, not knowing that they would never get back home. We bombed Hiroshima! We bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye! Kids playing in the playground , mothers picking up children after school, civilians – not soldiers – people just trying to make it day by day. We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and Black South Africans, and now we are indignant??? Because the stuff we have done overseas has now been brought back into our own front yard! America’s chickers are coming home to roost!
Violence begets violence. Hatred begets hatred and terrorism begets terrorism. A White Ambassador said that y’all not a Black Militant. Not a Reverend who preaches about racism. An Ambassador whose eyes are wide open, and who’s trying to get us to wake up and move away from this dangerous precipice upon which we are now poised. The ambassador said that the people we are wounded don’t have the military capability we have but they do have individuals who are willing to die and to take thousands with them and we need to come to grips with that. Let me stop my faith footnote right there and ask you to think about that over the next few weeks if God grants us that many days. Turn back to your neighbor say “footnote is over.”
Now, now come on back to my question to the Lord. “What should our response be right now in light of such an unthinkable act?”
I asked the Lord that question Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I was stuck in Newark New Jersey. No flights were leaving LaGuardia, JFK, or Newark airport. On the day the FAA opened up the airports to bring into the cities of destination because those flights had been diverted, because of the hijacking, a scare in New York closed all three airports and I couldn’t even get here for Mr. Radford’s funeral. And I asked God, “What should our response be?”
I saw pictures of the incredible. People jumping from the 110th floor. People jumping from the roof cause the stairwells above the 9th floor were gone. No more. Black people jumping to a certain death. People holding hands jumping. People on fire jumping. And I asked the Lord, “What should our response be?”
I read what the people of faith felt in 551 BC. But this is a different time. This is a different enemy. This is a different world. This is a different terror. This is a different reality. “What should our response be?” And the Lord showed me three things. Let me share them with you quickly and I’m going to leave you alone to think about the faith footnote.
Number one. The Lord showed me that this is a time for self-examination. As I sat 900 miles away from my family and my community of faith, two months after my own father’s death, God showed me that this is a time for me to examine my relationship with God; my own relationship with God, my personal relationship with God. I submit to you that it is the same for you. Folks flocked to the church in New Jersey last week. You know that fox hole religion syndrome kicked in, that emergency cord religion; you know that old red box cord to pull in case of emergency, it showed up full force. Folk who ain’t thought about coming to church for years were in church last week. I heard that mid week prayer services all over this country, which are poorly attended 51 weeks of the year, were jammed packed all over the nation the week of the hijacking the 52nd week filled full. But the Lord said, “This ani’t the time for you to be examining other folks’ relationship, this is a time of self-examination”
The Lord said to me, “How is our relationship doing Jeremiah? How often do you talk to me personally? How often do you let Me talk to you privately? How much time do you spend trying to get right with Me, or do you spend all your time trying to get other folk right?”
This is a time for me to examine my own relationship with God. Is it real or is it fake? Is it forever or is it for show? Is it something you do for the sake of the public or is it something that you do for the sake of eternity? This is a time to examine my own and a time for you to examine your own relationship with God. Self-examination. . .
Psalm 137 (NIV) 1 By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion. 2 There on the poplars we hung our harps, 3 for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!" 4 How can we sing the songs of the LORD while in a foreign land? 5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill . 6 May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy. 7 Remember, O LORD, what the Edomites did on the day Jerusalem fell. This Fort Worth Star-Telegram article hints that Obama’s church is merging Marxism with the Gospel. Looks like Black Liberation Theologian, James Cone, (Rev.Jeremiah Wright’s hero), thinks/though that the white Church is/was the antichrist. And that he is/was a Marxist. He certainly loves to obfuscate the issue. I wonder why Cone would not attribute that strange non-quote to Obama? Why did he bring Obama into the non-quote? Perhaps he’s hoping someone will take it “OUT-OF-CONTEXT” and run with it? Not me, I’ll leave it at the end of the original article should you choose to visit the link. American Thinker’s Lee Cary, who holds a Doctorate of Sacred Theology, accuses Wright of “Hate Preach” and accuses Brite Divinity School of violating its own covenant!!! She’s been asking Brite president, D. Newell Williams, for answers to two vital questions. So far she hasn’t received any answers. Don’t feel bad Lee, neither have I. These two questions are doozies. Perhaps we all should just forward them to Williams and keep sending to him on Lee's behalf them until he is forced to answer?

On the National scene Fox’s Greta Van Susteren interviewed Andrew Chavez, editor of Texas Christian University’s THE DAILY SKIFF on March 18th and again tonight. Chavez believes that there will be a lot of people interested in attending the Wright event. But Brite hasn’t yet announced where it will be held. The Black Church Awards Banquet is a $125.00 a plate affair. (Let me avoid the urge to comment here.) Chavez confirmed tonight that there are not a lot of students on campus who are in favor of the Wright event. Ya think???
Despite TCU’s attempts to distance itself from the Brite banquet honoring Jeremiah Wright, Brite appears to be holding fast to its commitment to honor Rev. Jeremiah Wright on March 29th.
However a firestorm is raging. Comments are flying on the online local press at the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Looks like the left-leaning ST editorial is getting more than they e bargained for as most of the comments are not favorable to their assessment of Wright!

“Black church summit will not be at TCU The event featuring Rev. Jeremiah Wright was moved for security reasons, officials say By TERRY LEE GOODRICH Star-Telegram Staff Writer
FORT WORTH -- Black Church Summit sessions will not be held at Texas Christian University as scheduled because of security concerns triggered by a controversial award to be given to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, TCU said in a statement Wednesday.
The executive committee of TCU's board of trustees voted in favor of moving summit events, including the March 29 awards banquet, and host Brite Divinity School agreed to the move, the statement said.
Brite will announce the event's new location later, according to the statement. . . "

The Dallas Morning News announced late this evening: “An event honoring controversial Chicago pastor Jeremiah Wright at Texas Christian University has been moved off campus because of security issues, TCU announced Wednesday. . . Members of TCU's board of trustees voted to move the Brite Divinity School's fourth annual Black Church Summit events off the Fort Worth campus. Officials at the divinity school agreed, according to a statement from TCU. . . The Brite school has not announced a new place for the event. . .Fort Worth police Lt. Paul Henderson said he had not heard any specific reasons why the event will be moved from TCU. "We don't have any information on any threat against the event. It may be due to some concerns related to on-campus security. . ." Though the divinity school is at TCU, Brite is a separate corporation with its own leadership. The award is presented by Brite.”
What the news left out is that Dr. Victor J. Boschini, Jr., Fort Worth, TCU Chancellor ,is a member of the Board of Trustees of Brite Divinity School. It would appear that some long overdue political leverage is being applied. Brite, however, must rescind the invitation to Wright. The failure of Brite to recognize the great damage Jeremiah Wright has done, not only to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, but to race relations in our nation, is evidence of the leftist ivory tower attitude permeating universities and religious seminaries throughout the Western world. They have lost touch with the truth and with current political realities!

On the heels of Obama’s race speech yesterday I learned on national TV that Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth Texas is still planning on presenting an award to Rev. Jeremiah Wright at the Black Church Awards Banquet for his 40-year ministry linking divine justice and social justice. Brite will host the fourth annual State of the Black Church Summit and Awards Banquet on March 29.
What is a ministry that links divine justice and social justice? Basically it’s short for Marxist born and bred Liberation Theology. Cutting out all the nuanced obfuscations of leftist Theological language and political correctness, Liberation Theology sees Jesus as the Divine Revolutionary leader intent on bringing social justice into this world. It’s a theology that calls for God’s Kingdom here on earth; not something to be attained in the hereafter. And if necessary, God’s Kingdom must be brought forth here and now on earth by any means necessary - even including violent revolution. I leave it to your imagination as to what country and which people must be dealt with!
It is imperative that traditional Christians from all denominations reach out to the young “middle class Christians” that are clueless as to what kind of heresy Brite and other seminaries are spreading. Here’s a typical response from a properly indoctrinated Marxist Brite graduate who is probably coming to pastor a church near you. Note that the blogger doesn’t have comments enabled.

The Obamas were comfortable at Trinity United Church of Christ because the message and theology from Mr. Wright were consistent with the historical world view in which both were academically immersed in the Ivy League.
While the core tenet of the evangelical left is pacifism, the core thrusts of the secular left are distributional justice and social equality. These themes complement each other, and the evangelical and secular Left mutually reinforce each other’s respective positions. . .”
The only correction I would make to Alexovich’s statement above is that Brite Divinity School is not an evangelical school. It is a Mainline Christian seminary!!! During the time that I attended Brite the majority of the students were from the United Methodist and Disciples of Christ denominations.
Those who have followed my writing about Leftist Heresy in my blog, Faultline USA, are familiar with my stories of surviving and graduating as a traditional Christian from an extremely liberal mainline Christian seminary. I have always refrained from mentioning the name of the seminary because my intent was not to disparage any one institution but to inform other Christians about the dangers of heretical leftist Christianity. Today, however, I am so disgusted that I am revealing the hotbed of radical leftist “Christianity” seminary where I earned my degree. And I am coming forward with a public call for action.
If Brite does not immediately rescind this invitation to Jeremiah Wright, I will be compelled by my conscience to repudiate my Theology degree from Brite Divinity School. "Contrary to media claims that Wright preaches racial hatred, church leaders who have observed his ministry describe him as a faithful preacher of the gospel who has ministered in a context radically different from that of many middle class Americans." . . .
TCU Chancellor Victor J. Boschini Jr. said Monday that "TCU supports the right of free speech even when the opinions expressed are controversial. That is what a university is about. But giving an award is another matter, and in this specific case in light of Reverend Wright's recently discovered remarks, TCU would not give such an award." . . .
Although Brite is on the TCU campus, it's a separate school with its own officers and board. Dr. Williams emphasized that the decision to honor Dr. Wright was Brite's alone. . .”
Yes, I will agree that Wright’s preaching is radically different from that of many middle class Americans, and we all must remember that context is everything to multicultural moral relativists! But America can no longer afford a double standard of multiple contexts when it comes to racially charged inflammatory speech. We are now living in “a time when we need to come together to solve a set of monumental problems,” and according to Obama that demands a context of unity! Ministers, no matter how much good they might have done, and no matter what the racial context, can no longer get a free pass for Anti-American, anti-Jewish or anti-White racist speech!!! Universities can no longer hide behind “the right of free speech” lie that rewards leftist anarchists and Anti-American traitors while silencing the voices and limiting the access of traditional Americans!

“ . . .I have already condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Reverend Wright that have caused such controversy. For some, nagging questions remain. Did I know him to be an occasionally fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy? Of course. Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes. Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely - just as I'm sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.
But the remarks that have caused this recent firestorm weren't simply controversial. They weren't simply a religious leader's effort to speak out against perceived injustice. Instead, they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country - a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America; a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam.
As such, Reverend Wright's comments were not only wrong but divisive, divisive at a time when we need unity; racially charged at a time when we need to come together to solve a set of monumental problems - two wars, a terrorist threat, a falling economy, a chronic health care crisis and potentially devastating climate change; problems that are neither black or white or Latino or Asian, but rather problems that confront us all. . . .”
