The American media’s fraud and corruption are at an all-time high

Recent dishonesty demonstrates why the mainstream media is largely no longer worthy of the trust of the American people.
 
Following the massacre of movie-goers in an Aurora, Colorado theater early last Friday morning, ABC’s Brian Ross twisted himself into knots to connect the violence with the Tea Party on “Good Morning America” with George Stephanopoulos. Here is the text.

Stephanopoulos: I’m going to go to Brian Ross. You’ve been investigating the background of Jim Holmes here. You found something that might be significant.

Ross: There’s a Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado, page on the Colorado Tea Party site as well, talking about him joining the Tea Party last year. Now, we don’t know if this is the same Jim Holmes. But it’s Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado.

So, Mr. Ross, if you don’t know “if this is the same Jim Holmes,” why even mention this? It’s not like “Jim Holmes” is so unusual a name that it couldn’t be shared by multiple individuals. Is wild speculation your idea of responsible journalism? Or, are you just taking advantage of a horrible crime and the pain it caused to score cheap political points for your own ideology?
 
Even if it was the same Jim Holmes, there was no indication that the shooting had any connection whatsoever with the Tea Party. Like the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords last year, this is another pitiful and failed media attempt to tie the Tea Party to violent acts.
 
ABC issued a correction, and then an apology, and that likely will be the extent of its efforts at contrition. However, the family of the man Mr. Ross falsely connected to the shooting was still getting death threats days later.
 
Question: How can anyone trust Brian Ross’ reporting hereafter, or that of ABC?
 
The cable network MSNBC got caught manipulating a comment by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, totally changing the context of a statement he made in order to ridicule and demean him.
 
The fraud that MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell palmed off on her viewers painted Mr. Romney as an out-of-touch elitist who doesn’t understand how retail commerce works.
 
Ms. Mitchell introduced a video clip, saying “I get the feeling – take a look at this – that Mitt Romney has not been to too many Wawa’s [convenience stores] along the roadside in Pennsylvania.” In the clip, Mr. Romney comments: “I was at Wawa’s, I wanted to order a sandwich.  You press the little touch tone keypad, alright, you just touch that, and you know, the sandwich comes at you, touch this, touch this, touch this, go pay the cashier, there’s your sandwich.  It’s amazing.”
 
Ms. Mitchell and her accomplice yuck it up at the candidate’s obvious ignorance of this common method of selling food: “It’s amazing,” she smirks. 
 
But she pulled a fast one on viewers who trust her to honestly tell them what is going on the in the world. What actually happened was that Mr. Romney, prior to relating the Wawa’s anecdote, commented on how a friend had a simple procedure badly mangled by incompetent government bureaucracy that required him to fill out a 33-page form to notify the government of his change of address. Twice. 
  
He was contrasting government inefficiency with the efficiency and innovative nature of the private sector. But that’s not the message Ms. Mitchell wanted her viewers to get, apparently.
 
Question: Is Andrea Mitchell’s reporting trustworthy?
 
After the shooting death of 17 year-old Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman in Florida, a large number of people, aided by media reports, rushed to judgment accusing Mr. Zimmerman of a racially motivated killing of the young man we all came to know from the photo of an angelic-looking youngster taken when he was 12 years-old. 
 
Whether Mr. Zimmerman committed a crime, or merely defended himself will be determined at trial, which every American – even those knee-jerks who jumped to the conclusion that the shooting was racially motivated – needs to understand is the proper setting for such determinations.
 
News organizations are expected to accurately report to the public what is known about events. A well-informed public is less likely to react emotionally and inappropriately, as so many did in the Trayvon Martin shooting. These days it seems the mainstream media frequently ignores ethical standards.
 
Supporting that point is the way NBC News edited the recording of Mr. Zimmerman talking with a police dispatcher, and creating the impression that Mr. Zimmerman had a racial prejudice against Trayvon Martin. It then broadcast this deception on the “Today Show”: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good.  He looks black,” George Zimmerman tells police in NBC’s edited version.
 
Here, however, is original text of the call:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?

Zimmerman: He looks black.

In these examples, people were deliberately trying to manipulate you with fraudulent reporting, or they are incompetent. When news organizations slant the news, or manufacture the news, whatever the cause, it is unethical, underhanded and unforgiveable.

Liberal U.S. media working to subvert Mitt Romney’s candidacy

The experiences of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney last week illustrate how the media fail to provide adequate, objective and balanced coverage of serious campaign issues.

Campaigning in Colorado last week, Mr. Romney gave an interview to a local TV reporter, no doubt wanting to talk about his ideas for combating the horrible economic conditions, the need for jobs, and other weighty problems that threaten the nation.

The reporter began by asking about Mr. Romney’s inability to connect with Colorado Republicans, and following his 24-second answer then moved to same-sex marriage. Mr. Romney gave what he said was the same answer to this question as he has given from the beginning. The reporter then asked follow-up questions on that same subject. After two minutes of questions and answers on same-sex marriage, the reporter then asked if illegal aliens should receive in-state tuition. And then after that she asked Mr. Romney about medical marijuana.

So, given the opportunity to interview the likely Republican nominee for the office of President of the United States, a local reporter spends three minutes of the four and one-half minute interview asking about social issues.

Mr. Romney had about all he could stand, so he protested, since medical marijuana, same-sex marriage and tuition for illegals are neither the most important issues facing the nation, nor something about which a President of the United States should be concerned, since they are state issues.

And, indeed, there are obviously more important issues needing attention, such as the $16 trillion national debt that runs to $50,000 for every one of the more than 300 million Americans. How about the highest corporate tax rate in the world that makes U.S. corporations less competitive in the world market? How about the 16 percent of American workers – about 13 million, all together – that can’t find a job at all, or are underemployed? What about a nuclear Iran, and the mess in Afghanistan? How about the fact that the Democrats in charge of the U.S. Senate have shirked their obligation to pass a budget for three straight years?

None of that seemed important to the reporter, but she finally did get around to asking questions about energy.

While the Colorado reporter was focusing on less relevant topics, the intrepid investigators at The Washington Post were busy looking into Mr. Romney’s high school days, searching for archaic dirt. And, they found some.

Some of the former governor’s high school classmates from 1965 said that he had indulged in boyish behavior, and one incident allegedly involved forcibly cutting the long blonde hair of a boy a year younger than Mr. Romney, who the classmates said may have been gay. If true, this was clearly wrong and indefensible. But it was nearly 50 years ago in high school, and appears to be an isolated incident. Yet, The Post thought it was important enough for 5,000 words starting on page 1 above the fold. And since then these allegations have “evolved” into proof that Mitt Romney was a homophobic bully. He also is accused of pulling classmate Susie Jones’ hair in the third grade.

The Post’s crack investigators successfully found this 47 year-old story about Mr. Romney (13 times longer ago than the last budget passed by our Democrat-controlled Senate), but gave little attention to Barack Obama’s history with former members of the Weather Underground and his admitted “enthusiastic” drug use, and were unable to find any information about his mysterious college days, including his grades, his formal papers, his days at the Harvard Law Review, his friends, etc.

Some people’s past apparently deserves closer scrutiny than others. You can understand why The Post might regard Mr. Romney’s past as more important: he’s running for President.

It is relevant to note that the family of John Lauber, the victim of Mr. Romney’s alleged brutish haircut, is appalled that their relative would be used for political purposes. His older sister, Christine, was unaware that Mitt Romney, or anyone else, “bullied” her brother, who passed away from liver cancer in 2004, but she was clearly not pleased by the story. “Even if it did happen, John probably wouldn’t have said anything,” she said. “If he were still alive today, he would be furious.”

“The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda,” she said. “There will be no more comments from the family.”

The treatment of Mitt Romney in 2012 and the treatment of Barack Obama in 2008 couldn’t be more different. In the Romney story, an unproved allegation of bullying gets front page treatment from The Washington Post, but admitted drug use, et al, by Barack Obama goes virtually unreported.

By emphasizing peripheral issues like same-sex marriage, illegal alien tuition, medical marijuana, and high school behavior, the liberal media distracts attention from President Obama’s dismal record on the critical economic problems. And in the attempt to discredit Mr. Romney, The Washington Post story denigrates John Lauber’s memory and upsets his family, presumably because of its obligation to inform the public. Well, about some things, anyway.

Taking in politcal news these days is like watching one of those dumb movies where preposterous events occur that would never happen in real life. Those movies are so annoying my husband and I will abandon the show rather than subject ourselves to further insults to our intelligence.

Unfortunately, the goings-on in Washington DC aren’t make believe and they effect not just our lives but also those of future generations. It’s too bad so few of our fellow Americans understand this. It’s not that millions of Americans woke up one day and decided “I want to be uninformed”. It’s just that liberalism has completely taken over and has become the new normal.

There’s a great piece up on Big Hollywood by Andrew Klavan - Why We Fight. He answers those on the right who seem to be giving up and giving in.

Look, the American media are in a bad way, a disastrous way. Movies, TV, literature–instead of illuminating vehicles for art and entertainment, they’ve become like the Matrix, replacing reality with a plausible leftist imitation. Journalists especially have so shamed themselves in their coverage of the last election–hounding Sarah Palin’s daughter and Joe the Plumber while all but ignoring Barack Obama’s ties to Illinois corruption, and his long and deep association with the racist anti-American Jeremiah Wright–that it’s going to take them years to recover. When people shame themselves that badly, they don’t admit it in a hurry. They savage their critics instead and continue their own shameful practices as a kind of defiant denial–anything rather than look in the mirror and confront what they’ve turned
themselves into.

So yeah, we’re on our own for now. But we’re not unarmed and
we’re in no way defeated. We have great politicians like Sarah Palin–who could well be president in not eight years but four–honest newsmen like Bret Baer and genius commentators like Rush–and Ann Coulter, who’s only about ten times smarter, funnier and more talented as a satirist than Jon Stewart or Bill
Maher will ever be. The left can’t out-argue these mind-warriors so they try to ridicule, disdain and isolate them, to make us feel ashamed that we admire and respect them. And they tell us they’re finished, washed-up. Why, just look, it must be true: it’s right there in the newspapers and on TV.

Mr. Klavan knows they’re liars. I know they’re liars and most of you reading this know they’re liars. My guess is that about 47 million Americans know they’re liars. Now we have to prove it.
But we won’t take back our country until we take back the Republican party. George Bush did a lot of good, but the constant verbal assault against the man seems to have taken its toll. He’s abandoned free market principles to avoid being labeled a Herbert Hoover. That’s understandable, but it appears he’s set us up for a complete socialist takeover of our country.

Other Republicans now seem to be embracing this new leftist mentality while the rest appear to be completely emasculated. A few, like Ron Paul, continue to speak out but to no avail. The best John Boehner could come up with today was “Oh my God.”

On a day the country’s experiencing colder weather than we’ve seen in a decade or more, Rep. Henry Waxman is pushing for climate change legislation to be passed by Memorial Day! Haven’t these people gotten the memo telling them we’re headed for an ice age?!? If their theory about carbon is correct, we need more, not less of it! Are there any Republicans left to stand up to this madness? Surely when the legislation makes it to the Senate we won’t be able to count on John McCain to speak for us.

Most Americans are putting our records in order to prepare our income taxes. At the same time, we learn that the man Barack Obama’s chosen to head the IRS “forgot” to pay taxes for four years, even though he received a tax allowance from the IMF and signed an acknowledgement that he would pay his taxes. It looks like the Democrats will give Mr. Geithner a pass because “we need him” to oversee the $825 billion stimulus package proposed by Madame Nancy Pelosi. If the dude can’t handle paying $34,000 in taxes, why should we trust him to oversee the biggest government giveaway in history? Yet we have Republicans telling us it’s okay, because Geithner’s really brilliant. Just look what he did for CitiBank!

If Barack Obama really had a sense of humor, when he finally settles on a dog for his family he will nominate that dog for a high position in the US government. There will be a few meek voices of protest and he will make a statement explaining the reason for appointing the dog. The dog’s confirmation hearings will be a smashing success, as he will undoubtedly make more sense than anything we’ve heard to date. The media will report how appointing the dog was really brilliant and non-partisan while ignoring the Hoovervilles popping up along Pennsylvania Avenue.

But the former New York mayor has built a formidable political base in Texas with the help of well-connected Republican money men. He owes his advantage in part to his role as a name partner with a powerhouse, Houston-based law firm known for its impressive roster of energy-giant clients, Bracewell & Giuliani.

His partnership in the law firm has also brought Giuliani unwelcome criticism in connection with some of the firm's more controverisal clients, including a Spanish contractor involved in planning part of a Texas superhighway toll road known as the Trans-Texas Corridor. . .

I would like to thank Proprietor Nation for bringing this to our attention with the article, Hatchet Job Masquerading as Political Analysis. Although PN has done an excellent job of demonstrating political bias especially in the Midland Reporter-Telegram’s characterization of the GOP, I do take issue with PN’s characterization of those thousands of Texans - mostly bi-partisan - who are fighting the Trans Texas Corridor and it’s Spanish partner, Cintra. PN hinted that Texas farmers and other landowners are being taken in by Conspiracy theorists.

“Texas farmers and other landowners are worried their property rights will be trampled to make way for the highway. Conspiracy theorists see Giuliani, because of his highway connections, as allied with a cabal of international monied interests plotting to supplant the United States with a North American Union that includes Mexico and Canada . . ."

Far from conspiracy theory!!!

The Trans Texas Corridor (part of the open border NAFTA highway) is a multi-billion dollar reality. I should know because I spoke at the TXDOT hearings on the TTC last year!

Millions of Texas land acres and thousands of Texans will be fighting a losing battle over eminent domain. And just in case you aren’t too interested, the NAFTA highway goes all the way from Mexico to Canada – so your state may be affected as well.

Last weekend (August 2007) Governor Perry vetoed 49 more bills.

Property protections were dashed with the veto of an eminent domain bill TxDOT didn't like. Another bill that would have required TxDOT to consider using existing highway routes for future TTC routes was struck down. A bill that called on the Attorney General to study the impact of international agreements on Texas was ridiculed by the Commission and also vetoed by the Governor.

A few more vetoes smack of retaliation dealt to those who opposed the Governor's view of the TTC, HPV, TYC or education during the session. . .

Anyone who cares to look at the maps of the upcoming NAFTA highway will note that this eminent domain issue doesn’t stop at the Texas border!

Aside from my criticisms of the PN article, it is a great read and a good primer on how to spot bias. Here’s an excerpt from the PN article: . .

Right from the get go, the article is suspect. Imagine, the shoe on another foot. One could see this sort of lead in, Democrat Hillary Clinton, scandal ridden, highly polarizing and with negatives already at or near 50%, has bucked convention and continues to lead nationwide. Let's try another... despite his Mormon background, flip flopping on key issues, and reputation for being to slick for his own good, Mitt Romney maintains a lead in Iowa.

While it is pefectly fine to lead in in such a way, if there is going to be straight analysis, we will expect to understand how he has bucked the conventional wisdom that a social liberal could lead in a social conservative party. Instead, what we get is a nebulous reason that is really just an excuse to attack Rudy in a backhanded and terribly unfair sort of a way.

It can’t be stated enough – all politics is local! We can complain all day long about the MSM, the NY Times, The Boston Globe, etc., but if we ignore the bias in our own local newspapers, we’ve missed the point entirely!

CNN: Are All God’s Warriors Equivalent?

This is a continuing series of articles concerning the left’s attack on traditional American cultural values. Regardless of how you feel about religion, you have to admit that the left has been fairly successful in its attempts to infiltrate many of our cherished institutions – including our religious institutions. What the left can’t infiltrate, they are willing to mock and to marginalize by attempting to engender fear primarily against Christians and Jews.

Now that bastion of leftist ideology, CNN, has managed to lump Christian and Jewish conservatives into the same “warrior” pot with Islamists.

CNN's "God's Warriors," hosted by Christiane Amanpour, is a three-part series intended to examine the growing role of religious fundamentalism in today's world. Unfortunately, the first program in the series, "God's Jewish Warriors," is one of the most grossly distorted programs to appear on mainstream American television in many years. It is false in its basic premise, established in the opening scene in which Jewish (and Christian) religious fervency is equated with that of Muslims heard endorsing "martyrdom," or suicide-killing. . . .

Pamela of Atlas Shrugs calls Christiane Amanpour -Christiane I'm-a-whore. After the past week I would suggest to Pamela that her description doesn't go far enough in describing the CNN "reporter." She created a three part series "God's Warriors"which was supposed to examine three different religions and their relationship with Israel and she managed to attack Israel with each one.

I wonder what her motivation was---a gift for her Muslim father, . . .

By the end of her third and final segment we are meant to fear and loathe the Christian conservative right far more than we are meant to fear or loathe Amanpour's Amadinejad whom --incredibly--she never accuses of funding Hezbollah's terrorist work abroad. . .

On Thursday, August 23, CNN went after “God’s Christian Warriors.” Let me state at the outset, in the name of full disclosure, that while I am a rather conservative Christian, I am in no way, shape or form an evangelical or “fundamentalist” Christian (yes, my liberal readers, there IS a difference).

Amanpour began by observing that “religion has exploded as a political force” in the last 30 years but blames it on the Religious Right: “[Jerry] Falwell thrust religion into politics.” Has Christiane, or any producer or editor at CNN, never had a class in American history? Religion has been part and parcel of American politics going back to the founding of the Republic, as Jon Meacham demonstrates in his recent book American Gospel. Many Americans who don’t work at CNN know that the 19th century fight to emancipate black American slaves was led by the churches. And even within Amanpour’s lifetime, we have had the example of the civil rights struggle—incubated in black and white churches and led, more often than not, by ministers. How she gets away with stating on TV that Falwell religionized politics is beyond me. . .

Why does CNN seem obsessed with equating Christian fundamentalists with Muslim ones? Despite some surface simlarities, the two are quite different. But for CNN, as for much of the mainstream media, ANY strong religious belief is ipso facto frightening and irrational.

The interview on Larry King was pre-recorded in mid-July and none of the participants had seen the six-hour documentary because it was still being edited. Now that I have seen it, I sent the following critique to the producers of God's Warriors. . . .

No, not the jihadists who are killing thousands of innocents every year -- although they are in the six-hour special -- but also "God's Jewish warriors" and "God's Christian warriors."She uses those phrases throughout the preview clips, and it's disgusting. There's hardly a Christian alive who would call an abortion clinic bomber "God's warrior," nor do Jews use "Jewish warrior" to describe the few in Israeli society who resort to a little terrorism in the face of an overwhelming terrorist threat. . .

The 16-year President of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Nadine Strossen, appears to continue to retain convicted felon Steven C. Cunningham as her Chief Aide.

Some background: Steven C. Cunningham was convicted of the murky charge of Child Endangerment in the State of New Jersey. What is child endangerment? Did he fail to buckle a child's seatbelt? Did he leave a small child at home, unattended? Did he go shopping with a child and let the child wander away? Did he allow a child to assault another child - endangering the assaulted? Did he let a child play with a medicine bottle?

No, that's not what he did. He had three online chats with a boy that he believed was 12 years old, but was actually a police officer. According to charges filed, the phone calls were lewdly graphic and he attempted to meet "the child" somewhere. Cunningham was permanently disbarred in the State of New Jersey, but it appears that he is still licensed to practice in the State of New York and continues in the position of Chief Aide to ACLU President Nadine Strossen.

Since Strossen's office will not confirm or deny Cunningham's important position as her Chief Aide, why do I think he is still, indeed, with the ACLU? Here's why: A search of New York State Unified Court System eCourts site confirms that Steven Christie Cunningham is licensed to practice in New York. Is Steven Christie Cunningham the same convicted Steven C. Cunningham? I think so. After this morning's "no comment" from Strossen's office, I called the phone number for Steven Christie Cunningham given on eCourts website. That call was answered by the New York Law School voicemail. When I selected Cunningham's name from the list offered, the call was answered by Nadine Strossen's office - the same young man who took my first call this a.m. and refused comment.

So much for the ACLU's interest in your civil liberties or mine...our right to know if a man convicted of child endangerment is an integral part of the ACLU daily operations.

As I said in a previous post:

Now, if the Chief Aide or Executive Assistant to the CEO of Wal-Mart was convicted of Cunningham's charges, we would know about it. Suppose a high-ranking assistant on Dr. Laura Schlessinger's staff was so convicted - we'd know about it. What if a person of influence within Dr. James Dobson's organization was convicted of child endangerment - we know we would know about it - not only from the MSM but Wal-Mart, Dr. Laura and Dr. Dobson would be called upon to explain how this abomination could possibly happen right under their noses. From the ACLU we hear nothing - at least that I can find.

As I have said in previous posts, Nadine Strossen did not commit a Child Endangerment crime. Nevertheless, the ACLU is becoming infamous for their defense of the right to access child pornography. Strossen is the author of Defending Pornography. Pornography doesn't necessarily mean "child" pornography but the ACLU's defense of The North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) clearly cannot be explained away as a civil right. How do you defend the right of men to "talk" about and "write" about sexually preying on young boys, because they are only "talking" or only "writing" about it, when you fully know, but refuse to acknowledge, that children have been damaged by NAMBLA.

The Pitiful Left’s Media Attacks

Yesterday I had the “pleasure” of reading “The Pitiful State Of Our Media” – a loony leftist attack on “right-wing media bias” by Pacific Views.org. The article accuses the MSM of collaboration with the Bush administration! That statement would even make Pelosi laugh!

It would appear that the far left has decided to jump into media-bashing as a way of defending a completely ludicrous and defenseless accusation. Of course the lefty MSM doesn’t mind this silliness by their unhinged comrades because now the MSM can point to these mindless accusations and say, “See we get it from all sides, so that proves we aren’t biased.”

I thought you might enjoy a few excerpts (hyperlinks added by me). . .

Three stories this week show just how damaged the mainstream media is. It is
clear we are in deep trouble as a nation if we cannot get the media to do a
better job because it is this dysfunctional media that has enabled the worst
administration in American history as well as their extremist collaborators to
take us to war and to weaken the institutions that are needed to help us deal
with the enormous problems facing us. These stories were designed to slime
Democratic leaders and to justify more war by stoking the fear factor once more.
. .

The Edwards blogger story was another example of
manufacturing a controversy that was designed to damage a top Democratic
candidate. Glenn Greenwald thinks that the overall outcome of this story shows
how the liberal blogosphere has started to fight against the right-wing noise
machine, yet he sees the Edwards story as a prime example of the influence of
the right wing network on our public discourse.

For
the last 15 years or so -- since the early years of the Clinton administration
-- our public political discourse has been centrally driven by an ever-growing
network of scandal-mongers and filth-peddling purveyors of baseless, petty
innuendo churned out by the likes of Rush
Limbaugh, Matt
Drudge, various right-wing operatives and, more recently, the
right-wing
press led by Fox News. .
.

We are in the position we are in as a country
because there has been really no effective counterweight to the lowly, deceitful
and filth-peddling right-wing network which has dominated our political
discourse and the media's coverage of it. . .

Edwards
was able to reconsider his original decision to fire Amanda and Melissa because
the blogosphere gave him backing. (And I suspect his very smart wife was
involved in working with him as he came to the right decision in the face of
this manufactured firestorm because she knows and participates in the blogging
world herself.) Nevertheless, this particular tempest in the teapot did its
dirty work on the John Edwards campaign, by asserting that he was associating
with extremists via the "liberal bloggers are bad" meme (using Malkin and Donohue, neither
would would be considered respectable arbitors of civil discourse or political
correctness in any sane world). This a story was designed to make him look weak
if he buckled down to the right wing machine. But when he decided to stick with
his bloggers, the right wing can run with a new meme that Edwards has given in
to the rabid rabbits that make up the left blogosphere. Talk about a no win
story for Edwards, just because he had asked two smart and gutsy gals to join
his campaign. What can the candidates learn from this episode to get in front of
nasty attacks from the right wing? And how do we help them?

The final story is yet one more example of the way the
mainstream media will collaborate with the adminstration as they try to frighten
and anger the public in to backing a war with Iran just like they did before
attacking Iraq. . . .

Well it’s obvious that this nitwit went way, way over the top. I couldn’t resist leaving a comment gleaned from Wake Up America’s fine article, “The Obligatory Edwards/Bloggers Post.” I posted the suddenly removed but stealithily archived examples of the “trash-talking Stalinists at Pandagon” and challenged Mary, the author, to keep the comment up. So far it’s still there and there are no other comments. It would appear that even the far, far left is blushing with embarrassment!

American Marxist “Journalists” are Killing Our Soldiers!

As almost everyone knows by now, yesterday William M. Arkin, of the Washington Post and NBC News Analyst, stepped into his own leftist excrement with his “The Troops Also Need to Support the American People”.

Rather than rehash Comrade Arkin’s troop bashing I urge you to visit Wake Up America and read yesterday’s column, “The Left Wants Our Soldiers to SHUT UP!!!!!!” which offers the best blogging overview of Arkin’s diaper-full-o-crap and many of the linked sentiments from our military bloggers on Mr. Arkin’s statements.

After Arkin got thoroughly throttled, he came back with “The Arrogant and Intolerant Speak Out.” Now he calls those in uniform “arrogant and intolerant”!!!

Well, one thing's abundantly clear about who will actually defend our
rights to say what we believe: It isn't the hundreds who have written me saying
they are soldiers or veterans or war supporters or real Americans -- who also
advise me to move to another country, to get f@##d, or to die a painful, violent
death.

Contrary to the typically inaccurate and overstated assertion in
dozens of blogs, hundreds of comments, and thousands of e-mails I've received,
I've never written that soldiers should "shut up," quit whining, be spit upon,
or that they have no right to an opinion.

I said I was bothered by the notion that "the troops" were somehow
becoming hallowed beings above society, that they had an attitude that only they
had the means - or the right - to judge the worthiness of the Iraq
endeavor.

I was dead wrong in using the word mercenary to describe the
American soldier today. . .
The notion then that we should defer to the
military to fight when and how and where they want is absurd. As the debate
about the Iraq war demonstrates, war-making is a shared endeavor and the arrogant and intolerant few who think they are above the
people seem to be those who are wearing the uniform.

Commrade Arkin, you are beneath contempt!

Today Arkin has written “A Note to My Readers on Supporting the Troops”

I knew when I used the word "mercenary" in my Tuesday
column that I was being highly inflammatory. . . .

He wanted inflammatory, well he’s got it. Hope he and the WaPo realize what they’ve unleashed!!!

Arkin has received more than 200 comments, so far. And the vast majority of comments aren’t coming from his fans!!! These comments are well worth reading and I only hope some of those who left comments bothered to send their comments to his bosses!

Note: We need to remind the “mainstream” media bosses that unless they seriously get some balance in their coverage of the war, they may soon be subject to the sweeping reforms Congress is considering to the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995. Although S.B. 1 passed without the “grassroots” provisions, congress is considering adding amendments. Additionally, H.R. 4682 (still under consideration) would subject groups and individuals (including the media) to disclosure and biased media SHOULD be considered “grassroots lobbying firms”!

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and others will attempt to push through these dangerous restrictions in the House. And if they do let their leftist media hacks pay!!!

military, but the American veterans and a great number of our civilian
