Jeremiah Wright is now embroiled in a sex scandal involving a church secretary from Dallas. The affair apparently began during the height of the Obama/Wright controversy this past spring.
The New York Post published an expose´ today: O PASTOR IN SEX SCANDAL.
Apparently Wright got involved with the church secretary at Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas while on his whirlwind tour in Texas last spring to receive an award from the liberal Brite Divinity School.
The woman in question, Elizabeth Payne, 37, and her now former husband were interviewed by the NYP. Ms. Payne also lost her job at the church and has filed a wrongful-dismissal claim with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to get her job back.
As reported in March by the blog, Faultline USA, the controversial Wright was to receive an award at the Black Church Awards Banquet for his 40-year ministry linking divine justice and social justice. The banquet was to be held at the Brite Divinity School on the campus at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth Texas. Brite was to host the fourth annual State of the Black Church Summit and Awards Banquet on March 29.
Due to the numerous racially inflammatory statements made by Wright that caused Obama to finally disassociate himself from Wright, there was an out pouring of negative citizen response and the awards banquet was moved to Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas.
Here is the statement by TCU Chancellor Victor J. Boschini Jr that forced the move to Dallas.
TCU Chancellor Victor J. Boschini Jr. said Monday that "TCU supports the right of free speech even when the opinions expressed are controversial. That is what a university is about. But giving an award is another matter, and in this specific case in light of Reverend Wright's recently discovered remarks, TCU would not give such an award . . .
According to the NYP, the affair probably began in Dallas in the spring. “In April, Payne organized a series of Texas public appearances by Wright, 67. Weeks before, Obama had disavowed his preacher of 20 years after Wright's anti-government rants came to light.”
It would appear that Wright continued a life pattern of getting sexually involved with church women.
“The preacher reportedly wooed [his wife] Ramah away from her first husband in the 1980s, when the couple came to marriage counseling at Wright's Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.”
