Brite Divinity School Accused of Violating Its Own Covenant

Note: This is the fifth post in a continuing series concerning the fateful decision of Brite Divinity School to honor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright on March 29th. For background read (1) Brite Divinity School to Honor Rev. Jeremiah Wright, (2) Brite Divinity School Jeremiah Wright Update, (3) Brite, Jeremiah Wright, and the Out of Context Card, and (4) The Brite-Jeremiah Wright Debate Continues

Here’ are my teasers to three must-read stories just published today!!! I’ll be making separate posts for each of these very substantial articles. Stay tuned.

Some views at Obama's church are controversial

This Fort Worth Star-Telegram article hints that Obama’s church is merging Marxism with the Gospel. Looks like Black Liberation Theologian, James Cone, (Rev.Jeremiah Wright’s hero), thinks/though that the white Church is/was the antichrist. And that he is/was a Marxist. He certainly loves to obfuscate the issue. I wonder why Cone would not attribute that strange non-quote to Obama? Why did he bring Obama into the non-quote? Perhaps he’s hoping someone will take it “OUT-OF-CONTEXT” and run with it? Not me, I’ll leave it at the end of the original article should you choose to visit the link. Here’s just one quote to whet your appetite.

“ . . .Among some of Wright's more provocative doctrines are his claims that Jesus is black; that merging Marxism with the Gospel may show the way to a better tomorrow; and that the white church in America is the Antichrist because it supported slavery and segregation.”

Hate Preach: Brite Divinity School To Honor Wright

American Thinker’s Lee Cary, who holds a Doctorate of Sacred Theology, accuses Wright of “Hate Preach” and accuses Brite Divinity School of violating its own covenant!!! She’s been asking Brite president, D. Newell Williams, for answers to two vital questions. So far she hasn’t received any answers. Don’t feel bad Lee, neither have I. These two questions are doozies. Perhaps we all should just forward them to Williams and keep sending to him on Lee's behalf them until he is forced to answer?

Saving the Best for Last

The Speech: A Brilliant Fraud Today Charles Krauthammer dissected Obama’s speech with such mastery that it’s not surprising that so few of us heard it for what it actually was. Here’s a hint.

“His defense rests on two central propositions: (a) moral equivalence, and (b) white guilt.”

If you’d like to share your thoughts with the President of Brite Divinity School, D. Newell Williams, or with Texas Christian University Chancellor Boschini, here is their contact info.

  1. I heard Krauthammer on Fox last night, he's amazing. Always able to cut through the expected comments by others and get to the meat of a situation. Must be the 'shrink' in him, ha.

  2. His article (link in above post) is a treasure!!! A keeper if we are to believe that Obama's race speech is historic!

  3. Brite Divinity is a liberal school within a conservative university, not unlike the Methodist ministers who opposed the Bush Presidential library on the SMU Campus. They do these things not realizing how it alienates alumni and potential students and their families. TCU is a good school, but Brite Divinity School is trying to use their pulpit to bully opinion. Shame on them. There's a whole day of "festivities" in addition.

  4. Thank you Ellen. It sounds like you may have attended TCU or Brite. Both schools are excellent schools and you've very accurately described the situation.

  5. Republican presidents have been embracing anti-American, anti-minority, anti-Semitic, anti-gay, anti-women, anti-Catholic, etc., etc. Right-Wing Evangelical and Fundamentalist ministers for decades. People like Schaefer, Graham, Falwell, Robertson, Jones, Hagee and dozens of others have all preached that America and Americans are damned by God for one goofy reason or another. These religious bigots have been the advisors and confidants to Nixon, Ford, Reagan and both Bushes. But, the anti-American hate they spew is fine because it furthers the fear-based Right-Wing political agenda.

Wright's only problem is that he isn't Right.

The Right-Wing became a joke in its efforts to "prove" that Senator Obama is/was a Muslim. Having failed that, they turned to sensationalizing Reverend Wright and Trinity United Church of Christ. According to their warped spin, Senator Obama may be a Christian, but he isn't the Right kind.

The Right-Wing is running its smear campaign against what they fear as the ultimate boogieman -- a Black president of the United States.

    YES WE CAN!

P.S. TCU = Party School = Students aren't sober often enough to do much critical thinking.

  6. I actually graduated cum laude from SMU. BTW, while the party school label can apply to such private schools as TCU and SMU, there are also serious students there who attend based on academic excellence and scholarship funding. I know kids who attend UT and Texas Tech who party far more than kids from private universities.

  7. Ellen thank you for your defense of TCU. But then, consider the source of the above comment? What is anonymous drinking? Probably Kool Aid.

Anonymous did make an interesting observation. “According to their warped spin, Senator Obama may be a Christian, but he isn't the Right kind.”

How can we know what kind of Christian Obama is unless we can examine the church he has attended for the past 20 years? And if his pastor, for the past 20 years, has been spewing anti-American and racist statements, and if Obama hasn’t noticed, or hasn’t been there to hear him, then we have choices. (1) If he didn’t notice then he’s not that bright and he shows bad judgment, or (2) if he wasn’t there, perhaps he was worshipping elsewhere or not worshipping at all, or (3) perhaps Wright's words didn't bother Obama all that much?

  8. Don't you just love the leftnoid's who come into your blog make all kinds of accusations and never offer a link or shred of proof to what they say and then don't even have the stones to sign their name?

But then what does one expect from one who supports a candidate like Obama, and who comes from the same mold and same segment of the party as John Kerry, Ted Kennedy and Tom Daschle, the left of the left within the party. The wing that represents the angry anti-American, self-loathing, defeatist wing of the party. The wing which loses time and time again and loses big.

  9. You said it Ticker! You really can’t expect much. Many blogs don’t allow anonymous posters and for good reasons. But I allow them because much of the time, not always, they don’t like what I had to say and aren’t brave enough to allow a visit back to their blogs. I leave the comments there, unless seriously abusive, just so folks can see their cowardice and/or stupidity.

  10. Faultline, most of the anonymous posters are not bright enough to have their own blogs. The TROLL other blogs to spew their ignorance and then run to blogs like the daily Kuss where they are considered heros and brillient posters regardless of how stupid the comment as long as it is leftnoid enough.
