The War Heats Inside the Democratic Party

According to Michael van der Galien of The Moderate Voice

There is something strange going on in the progressive blogosphere these days: instead of uniting against Republicans, progressive bloggers like Matt Stoller have decided to declare war on every Democrat who they consider not to be progressive (read anti-war) enough. . . .

Now they are admitting to what we’ve been saying all along! The following are articles Faultline USA posted earlier this year:

The Active Democrats Revolution . . . The key words “Active Democrat” are showing up in more and more new Political Action Committee names. The words are deliberately designed to link radical activists to the left-leaning P.A.C. that will represent their interests. . .

Extreme Left Hijacking Local Democratic Party Chairs . . . In the following days I will share with our readers actual examples (including names, dates, and places), of how the extreme left is actively hijacking local Democratic party executive committees and local chairs. . .
Democratic Left Cloaked in Religion and Patriotism . . . This is a continuation from yesterday’s introductory article, Extreme Left Hijacking Local Democratic Party Chairs. . .A well-orchestrated national strategy by the far left . . .

Obama Campaign Abusive to Blue Dogs . . . It's a sign of the times when Blue Dog Democrats have to leak stories to conservative bloggers because their own party has abandoned them. . .

Conservative Blogs Give Active Democrats Heartburn . . . Doesn’t it warm you heart to know that the far left is going into apoplexy over the fact that conservative bloggers are trying to keep them honest? Well, keeping them honest is quite an impossible task. But exposing them is a pleasure . . .

Will the Blue Dogs Vote with GOP? . . Starting with the left, Contentewire seems to think this is all some elaborate conspiracy between Blue Dog Democrats and Moderate Republicans . . .

Michael van der Galien continues:

. . .Seemingly frustrated that there are actually Democratic Congressmen that do not necessarily always vote along party lines - but make up their own minds - they have decided to ask their readers to make profiles of so-called “Bush Dogs” (Blue Dogs and New Democrats) as to be able to target them in the coming years, and to replace them with progressive, left-wing Republicans.

An example of a so-called Bush Dog they are targeting is Brian Baird. Baird opposed the war against Iraq from the get-go but believes that since the US went ahead and attacked anyway, it should persist and be successful. He believes that the surge might be paying off, at least to a degree, and that - therefore - the troops should not be withdrawn soon. So, Open Left and Daily Kos have decided to target Blair - they are writing negative posts about him, etc.
Of course, Baird is not the only victim. Once one pays attention to what is happening, one also sees that they are targeting
Hillary Clinton. Obviously not to replace her, but instead to make sure that she does not win the nomination. Besides attacking Hillary straight on, the left-wingers of the Daily Kos, Open Left and MyDD, also seem to have declared Bill Clinton their enemy. Their new best buddy? Al Franken.

Castro may or may not be Dead – Again

This from Memorandum

BREAKING: FIDEL CASTRO IS DEAD — My cellphone has not stopped ringing for the past ten minutes. Various sources inform that an announcement will come within the next few minutes from the Cuban government on Cuban TV and media. Stay tuned and we'll see if we've been manipulated once again …

  1. This is a very nice piece and I think it is exactly what we will see from the far left groups throughout the election. MoveOn.org flexed it's muscle and got most of the Democrat candidates to pass on the debate co-sponsored by Fox. As time passes they and other groups like them will demand more and more obsequious pandering from the candidates. And being the panderers that they are the Democrat candidates will willingly dance to their tune. Its unfortunate that the far fringe left will hijack the party away from the somewhat reasonable center of the party. But in politics it is always the squeaky wheel (with the money) that gets the grease. And it will be the Blue Dog Democrats, or anyone even slightly to the right of the Activist Democrats that will be heaped with scorn and abuse.

  2. Another enlightening article.
One can only hope that this frenzied in-fighting will end in their self-destruction, or at least that the rest of those reasonable Dems (like Baird and co.) will finally get fed up with their bullying tactics and decide that it's definitely NOT in their best interest to be identified with this vicious radical fringe -- simply because most Americans aren't radicals.

    And they call us fascists!

But as you pointed out earlier in your churches piece, the far left is already making such rapid progress infiltrating almost every aspect of our culture that sadly such hopes may be just wishful thinking.

Thanks for keeping us on top of things.
