Ellison supports Obama

Originally posted at Right Truth

Big surprise, Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison, a Muslim, supports Illinois Senator Barack Hussein Obama for President of the United States of America. I'm waiting for Macon County Georgia Mayor Jack Ellis to toss his support Obama's way. Ellis was a Christian who 'became a Sunni Muslim during a December ceremony in the west African nation of Senegal' after reading the Koran. He stated 'that his new religion was practiced by his ancestors before they were brought to North America as slaves.'

Ellison says it's not because Obama is black -- it's because the senator "speaks with a unifying spirit."

Ellison is the first Muslim elected to Congress and the first black candidate elected to Congress from Minnesota.

While Ellison is supporting Obama at this stage of the campaign, the congressman acknowledges that he may end up backing New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton if she wins the Democratic nomination.

Ellison spoke yesterday at a Black History Month event in Minneapolis. (source)

And so it goes ...
