"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
--2 Chronicles 7:14
I commend "The Harbinger," by Jonathan Cahn, for you to read. The author's premise is that the events of September 11, 2001, were a wake-up call from God warning America to turn from its wicked ways and return to him. He cites passages from the Prophet Isaiah to compare it to when ancient Israel received a similar warning that they, in turn, did not heed. (He does not claim that Israel and America are the same, only that the warnings are similar.)
Whether you completely agree with the author's analysis of the events leading up to, the day of, and after September 11th, the most important point of his thought process is the answer to this question:
Who did America turn to in the aftermath of that day for their safety, security, and redemption?
The bottom line is that it was not God, and therein lies our problem.
Instead of the nation turning from it's current path and seeking the face of God, we sought to solve all our problems with our own hands. We have sought solutions from our human government, rather than trusting in the wisdom and grace of God.
Because we as humans cannot solve these problems before us and refuse to rely on God, we are forced to continue attempting to do so, taking bolder and bolder measures, until we reach utter and complete failure. That is why our Federal Government has grown so large, taken over so many portions of our economy and nation, and why we have sought a "savior" of sorts to occupy the office of the President. It is the very collectivization that I have spoken of and F.A. Hayek has warned us about. We must come together as humans to solve our problems since we no longer trust in the Lord.
All of these solutions made from human hands, absent of God, will ultimately fail.
Only if we as a nation turn from our wicked ways and once again seek the face of our Creator will we have any hope of once again living in peace and security within our nation.
