Norwegian Doctor in Gaza Supported Terrorist Attacks on the U.S.

Claims by Norwegian Doctor Mads Gilbert that Israel is intentionally targeting Palestinian civilians and not just Hamas, need to be taken with a large dose of salt. Following 9-11 Gilbert supported terrorist attacks on the United States.

The Spectator reports today that last night the BBC TV News featured a “highly partisan report about Gaza” by Jeremy Bowen. The pro-Hamas report failed to mention “a direct hit yesterday by a Hamas rocket on a kindergarten in Ashdod.”

The BBC also failed to tell its viewers that “every single journalist and media utterance coming out of Gaza is controlled by Hamas.”

The highlight of the BBC TV report was an interview with the now famous Dr. Mads Gilbert. Gilbert is the Norwegian doctor who claimed that Israel is deliberately targeting civilians and that “We’re wading in death, blood and amputees.” (See “Norwegian Doctor in Gaza Says This is an All-Out War on Civilians” in today’s Digital Journal)

According to The Spectator, Gilbert isn’t just an innocent long-suffering humanitarian doctor.

Gilbert was presented as just an ordinary doctor. But Gilbert appears not to be just an ordinary doctor. He is a political activist and member of the Norwegian Maoist ‘Red’ party. Not only is he viscerally hostile to Israel and a long-standing activist in the Palestinian ‘solidarity’ movement, but he even supported the 9/11 attacks.

Additionally The Spectator reports that after the attack on the World Trade Center on 9-11, Gilbert not only defended the moral right of “the oppressed” to attack the United States, he also stated that he supported terrorist attacks on the United States.

“If the U.S. government has a legitimate right to bomb and kill civilians in Iraq, they have also suppressed a moral right to attack the United States with the weapons they had to create. Dead civilians are the same whether they are Americans, Palestinians or Iraqis.’ On the direct question whether he supported the terrorist attacks on the United States, Gilbert said: ‘Terror is a bad weapon, but the answer is yes, within the context I have mentioned.”

The Strile Eye reports that Gilbert and surgeon Erik Fosse are currently the only European health care workers on the Gaza Strip and that they are in Gaza on behalf of the Norwegian Aid Commitee (NORWAC).

The Norwegian Aid Committee (NORWAC) states that it is a humanitarian organization that works mainly with health care issues. “Our work is based on the principle of solidarity and equality regardless of religion, race and ethnic belonging.”

Almost all of NORWAC’s projects now center in Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt and Sudan. NPRWAC’s partners include: Palestinian Red Crescent Society - Lebanon branch, National Institution of Social Care and Vocational Training, Rabab al - Sadr Foundation, Marouf Saad Social and Cultural Foundation, Martyr Foundation, Islamic Health Society, Abu Jihad al - Wazir Institute for the Disabled, Palestinian Red Crescent Society,The Palestinian National Authority, Ministry of Health, Palestine Red Cross Society - Syria branch.

The Norwegian Aid Committee (NORWAC) appears to have no involvement with Israel.

Israel-Palestinian-Gaza Update

Israeli strikes continue Sunday on Gaza as Palestinians fire missiles into Israel. Obama won’t be drawn into the conflict, and international pressure on both sides is mounting. The U.S. and the U.N. say it’s up to Hamas to cease the violence.

According to NapaValley Register, Palestinians “breached the border fence with Egypt and hundreds poured across the frontier, prompting Egyptian guards to open fire, said officials and witnesses on both sides.”

The Guardian.UK reports that U.S. president-elect Barack Obama has refused to get drawn into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Obama has not given a hint as to his policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but finding a peace plan will be a priority in his administration.

When Obama visited Sderot in July he “unequivocally condemned the rocket attacks from Gaza on the Israeli town. “

"If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep at night, I'm going to do everything in my power to stop that," Obama said. "And I would expect Israelis to do the same thing."

While still vacationing in Hawaii, CNN reports that Obama’s senior adviser said that Barack Obama is monitoring the situation in Gaza closely, "the fact is that there is only one president at a time."

The U.N. Secretary General Bal-Ki-moon has issued an official statement. The U.N. Security Council calls for an immediate halt to hostilities.

"While recognizing Israel's security concerns regarding the continued firing of rockets from Gaza, he firmly reiterates Israel's obligation to uphold international humanitarian and human rights law and condemns excessive use of force leading to the killing and injuring of civilians. He condemns the ongoing rocket attacks by Palestinian militants and is deeply distressed that repeated calls on Hamas for these attacks to end have gone unheeded," a spokesman said. . .

The U.N. Security Council ended a four-hour emergency meeting Sunday with a call for an immediate halt to hostilities and a re-opening of border crossings to allow humanitarian supplies to reach Gaza.

Reuters reports that Arab protestors are demanding a response to Gaza. Popular Islamist movements are threatening other Arab nations friendly to the U.S. by claiming that they are “collaborators with the United States or Israel.

"America and the Zionists are the leaders of world terrorism," read a placard held by protesters at the U.N. headquarters in the Lebanese capital Beirut.

UPI reports that Sunday the Israeli government approved a draft of more than 6,000 military reservists for a ground offensive in Gaza.

Holy Land Foundation Guilty on 108 Counts of Terrorism Financing!

The Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, which was once the largest Muslim charity in the U.S., has been found guilty of funneling millions of dollars to the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

The group and five of its former leaders have been found guilty of 108 charges of terrorism financing.

According to the Associated Press, it took the government 15 years and two trials to finally bring down the Holy Land Foundation. The guilty verdict was rendered yesterday in Dallas, Texas. The Texas headquarters of the former foundation was based in nearby Richardson, Texas.

Last year the judge declared a mistrial when jurors were deadlocked over most of the counts after 19 days of deliberations.

Following the verdict, U.S. Attorney Richard Roper said:

"United States citizens have spoken in this case, and said with a resounding verdict of guilty that we will not tolerate those who choose to finance terrorism."

Since the 1990’s the Holy Land Foundation has been suspected of funneling money to Hamas by “bankrolling social programs run by Hamas.” AP reports that the foundation was accused of sending more than $12 million to Hamas, which was designated by the U.S. as a terrorist organization in 1995.

The convicted leaders face lengthy prison sentences, and “some could be locked away for life.”

The convictions range from supporting a terrorist organization to money laundering, which carry sentences up to 15 or 20 years on each count. . . Holy Land itself was convicted of all 32 counts. It will also be required to forfeit about $12.4 million to the government.

The Holy Land defense attorneys say that they will appeal the verdict, and their supporters accuse the government of “politicizing the case as part of its war on terrorism.”

The Dallas Morning News reports that Muhammad Salah, a Palestinian-born Illinois businessman told Israeli agents in 1993 that “Holy Land was the chief fundraising arm of the then-6-year-old Islamic Resistance Movement, better known as Hamas — which sponsored suicide bombings targeting Israelis in protest of their occupation of Palestine.”

Investigators also learned that Mousa Abu Marzook, who was at the time the head of Hamas, helped to start the Holy Land Foundation with “hundreds of thousands of dollars in seed money”.

He also was married to a cousin of Ghassan Elashi, Holy Land’s board chairman and one of its founders.

The Dallas Morning News investigated the Holy Land Foundation over a period of time and was the target of organized protests.

Muslim groups were outraged and denied the links. They organized protests at the newspaper’s downtown Dallas offices. Meanwhile, investigators were learning that Holy Land was flying in militant clerics, many with Hamas ties, to headline U.S. fundraisers. Those gatherings often featured calls for violent jihad, or holy war, against Israelis.

The Dallas Morning News also reported that in 1997 InfoCom, a Richardson-based Internet service provider with financial ties to Marzook and conveniently located right across the street from the Holy Land Foundation, tried to set up an Iraqi domain name. InfoCom was also doing business with Syria and Libya in violation of U.S. export laws. A federal terrorism task force finally shut the company down in on September 5, 2001 - six days before 9/11.
