The man who wants to rid America of “
white privilege” and who condemns “
middleclassness,” has proven once again that his hubris and hypocrisy know no bounds! Jeremiah Wright, the “former” pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, is being gifted by HIS church with a 10,000-plus square foot 1.6 million dollar home (with a $10 million dollar line of credit) in an exclusive gated community where 93% of the residents are White.
But did Wright actually retire or did he just leave the pulpit? It’s a good bet that TUCC is still Wright’s church lock, stock, and bloody barrel. Yes, Trinity is Wright’s personal tax-free honey pot. Anyone who knows anything about the structure of Mega Churches knows that Mega’s are usually personality-centered. In most Mega churches, when the highly visible minister actually retires or dies, the church usually collapses or splits apart. Anyone believing that the puppet preacher who has taken Wright’s place, Rev. Otis Moss III, has any real power apart from Wright knows nothing about church structure. It’s a safe bet that Wright is still directing and pulling all of the strings.
But is Wright being hypocritical? Here’s an excerpt from
Jeff Goldblatt of Fox News from March 27th.
" . . .Some people think deals like this are hypocritical. Jeremiah Wright himself criticizes people from the pulpit for middle classism, for too much materialism,” said Andrew Walsh, Associate Director of the Leonard E. Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life with Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.
“So he’s entitled to be tweaked here. So the question really is, how unusual is this? Somewhat unusual,” he said. . .
Goldblatt’s article goes into more of the details of the interesting house deal. Then he asked the UCC national office if this kind of deal is customary.
“ . . .It is customary and appropriate in many Christian denominations, including the United Church of Christ, for local churches to offer housing provisions for retiring clergy, especially in cases where pastors have served long-term pastorates. We support efforts by our 5,700 local churches to ensure that retiring pastors and spouses have continuing housing, adequate pension and health care, as an expression of our continuing appreciation for their years of service. Each local UCC congregation is free to honor a retiring pastor in ways it feels most appropriate to address the needs of that clergyperson’s circumstances,” wrote the Rev. J. Bennett Guess, spokesman for UCC’s national office.
“This is about how these kinds of churches work,” notes Walsh. “These pastors who made big successful churches are real valuable commodities. Is it morally wrong? Well, Protestants don’t have the idea that their religious leaders should live modestly or aesthetically. We’re not talking Buddhist monks or Catholic priests here. There’s no tradition that says they have to live poor.”
Hummmm? Talk about clouding the issue. This is not about living poor or even about living in reasonable comfort. This is about living a privileged life of hypocritical opulence! Wright feels free to condemn to his followers what he feels completely free to embrace.
But, why on earth would Wright want to live in a “
white privilege” gated community unless, of course, he seeks the familiarity of those who share his privileged educational upbringing? You see, no matter how Obama has tried to spin the background of poor misunderstood Jeremiah Wright, it just more smoke and mirrors. When will Obama ever learn???

Obama's Rev. Wright Mythology has provided us with an excellent background sketch of the young middle class Jeremiah Wright. Here are some excerpts:
“In his speech on race, Barack Obama tried to explain away his longtime minister’s denunciations of America by saying that for blacks of his generation, memories of “humiliation and doubt and fear have not gone away.”
But an examination by Newsmax of the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.’s background reveals that Obama’s characterization of his upbringing is mythology. . .
. . .For 62 years, Wright’s father, the Rev. Jeremiah Alvesta Wright, was pastor at Grace Baptist Church of Germantown.
. . . Wright’s mother, Mary Elizabeth Henderson Wright, was a schoolteacher. She was the first black to teach an academic subject at Roosevelt Junior High, the first to teach at Germantown High, and the first to teach at the Philadelphia High School for Girls. She became vice principal of Girls High in 1968.
. . .Rather than attend the more racially mixed Germantown High School at 40 East High St., Wright traveled a few miles to the elite Central High School at 1700 West Olney Ave., graduating in 1959. Opened in 1838, Central High has a distinguished past and admits only highly-qualified applicants who are privileged to attend from all over the city. It is comparable to the Bronx High School of Science and Boston Latin School, both public schools known for academic excellence.
. . .In retirement, Wright will continue a life of privilege that dates back to Central High. As a retirement gift, Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ is building him a million-dollar home abutting Odyssey Country Club and Golf Course in the nearly all-white Chicago suburb of Tinley Park. The home sits on land the pastor purchased in 2004 for $345,000. In December 2006, Wright sold the land to his church, which took out a $1.6 million mortgage on the property. In April 2007, the church applied for a building permit for the brick and stone structure.
. . . Rather than being a victim of oppression of blacks, as Obama has claimed, Wright is a symbol of the American dream. Rather than meriting sympathy, he exemplifies what my friend Fox News contributor Juan Williams describes as black leaders who orchestrate support for themselves by manipulating blacks into seeing themselves as victims, creating a black “culture of failure.
Obama’s attempt to excuse Wright’s hate-America rhetoric by deceptively describing his personal history and his failure to condemn him as a bigot speak volumes about the candidate’s own character and fitness to lead the country.”
Now let’s take a look at Wright’s version of The Black Value System on the
Trinity United Church of Christ web page. Pay special attention to #8. Here's an excerpt:
8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness.” Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must be able to identify the “talented tenth” of those subjugated, especially those who show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor’s control.Those so identified are separated from the rest of the people by:1. Killing them off directly, and/or fostering a social system that encourages them to kill off one another.
2. Placing them in concentration camps, and/or structuring an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.
3. Seducing them into a socioeconomic class system which, while training them to earn more dollars, hypnotizes them into believing they are better than others and teaches them to think in terms of “we” and “they” instead of “us.”
4. So, while it is permissible to chase “middleclassness” with all our might, we must avoid the third separation method – the psychological entrapment of Black “middleclassness.” If we avoid this snare, we will also diminish our “voluntary” contributions to methods A and B. And more importantly, Black people no longer will be deprived of their birthright: the leadership, resourcefulness and example of their own talented persons.Look at this insanity that came from Obama’s long-time church (aka: Jeremiah Wright)!!! Anyone who would call Wright, this hatemonger par excellence, his “friend”, his “mentor”, an “inspiration” etc., should have his head examined – Not be a candidate for President of the United States!
If we don’t call our national media to task for failing to vet Obama’s questionable associations, then we deserve exactly what we get!
