You might expect that the inauguration of a new president would be a solemn and dignified event. You would be wrong.
It may not be the first time that inappropriate behavior intruded on a stately and serious event, but it will certainly be remembered as the inauguration with most overtly inappropriate behavior, perhaps ever.
I don’t mean this to be a slam at the new president, for while he is responsible for some of the shameful behavior, he is not responsible for all of it.
The first of the inappropriateness came at the end of the formal ceremony when a minister named Joseph Lowery spoke. Mr. Lowery appeared to be a dignified, elderly gentleman of the cloth, and the expectation was that he would be a dramatic improvement over Barack and Michelle Obama’s minister of 20 years, the odious Jeremiah Wright. He was an improvement – how could he not be? – but a deeply flawed one.
While most of Mr. Lowery’s prayer was acceptable, if somewhat political, which on this particular day was not unusual, Mr. Lowery did not know when he should have stopped. As he ended the prayer he said this:
“Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around ... when yellow will be mellow ... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen.”
Racist? You bet. Appropriate? No way.
But the cake was taken by two rappers, one well known, Jay-Z, and one unknown, Young Jeezy. After their performance, it is evident that they rely not on talent, but on sensationalism for their notoriety.
These two clowns sullied the name of Barack Obama, a man you would expect they would want to celebrate in a positive way, and confirmed what we have known for a long time: Rap is a morally and intellectually bankrupt indulgence that is most often profane and dirty, and unfit for consumption by decent people.
It is “music” only in the most basic and un-artistic way, based primarily on primative rhythms, and lacking melody and harmonic elements.
It comes closer to being “poetry,” which I say with apologies to real poets everywhere.
Saying that rappers have “talent” indicates only that some of them are better than others at creating monotonous, gutter rhymes. Even mud-slinging, murder, rape and child molestation have their “pros.”
This disgusting performance is being celebrated by the “MTV crowd” as if their profanity-laced message is something to be honored. It isn’t.
Here is one description of the “performance”: “Rappers Young Jeezy and Jay-Z crazily cursing their heads off and screaming ‘Nigga’ this and ‘Nigga’ that as a crowd goes wild to Jeezy’s national anthem: ‘My President Is Black.’”
With apologies in advance, here is a sample – I was about to say a “taste,” except that the word “taste” is totally out of place here – of the original lyrics of “My President”:
Yeah Be The Realest Shit I Never Wrote
I Aint Write This Shit By The Way Nigga
Some Real Shit Right Here Nigga
This Will Be The Realest Shit You Ever Quote
That’s real poetry, isn’t it? That takes real talent, doesn’t it?
If the attitude represented by this display is going to be a feature of having elected the first black President of the United States, many of us will wish for an impeachment.
Soon.

Taking Back Our Culture
Crossposted at The Lonely Conservative
The left owns American culture, from our schools, to news outlets and the entire entertainment industry. To the rescue comes Andrew Breitbart who launched Big Hollywood today!
The left owns American culture, from our schools, to news outlets and the entire entertainment industry. To the rescue comes Andrew Breitbart who launched Big Hollywood today!
Big Hollywood is not a “celebrity” gabfest or a gossip outpost - it is a continuous politics and culture posting board for those who think something has gone drastically wrong and that Hollywood should return to its patriotic roots.
Big Hollywood’s modest objective: to change the entertainment
industry. To make Hollywood something we can believe in - again. In order to give millions of Americans hope.
Until conservatives, libertarians and Republicans - who will be the lion’s share of Big Hollywood’s contributors - recognize that (pop) culture is the big prize and that politics is secondary, there will be no victory in this important battle. -Andrew Breitbart
It’s a bit like the conservative version of The Huffington Post. I wish him luck and will visit Big Hollywood often. With the likes of Ben Shapiro, John Nolte, Gary Graham and Greg Gutfeld it’s sure to be a hit!

The Battle for American Unity
There are many who cite quotations concerning “A Nation Divided” but I believe that Abraham Lincoln said it best, primarily because he understood the battle. His last sentence is the key to the question of National Unity.
---
A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure permanently half-slave and half-free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved - I do not expect the house to fall - but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other.

Lincoln's 'House-Divided' Speech in Springfield, Illinois, June 16, 1858.
---
Today many of us are disillusioned with our own two-party system. We are angered at the failures of both the Democrats and the Republicans. And most of all, many of us are longing for national unity.
---
Unity is vital to the strength and health of any nation but false unity, based on little more than gathering large numbers of the disillusioned, is bound to fail. When the core values of the large majority of Americans are in direct opposition, attempts at false unity can only do one thing and that is to ignore those core values altogether by concentrating on those issues where some consensus can be found. It might work for a while but eventually it fails.

It might work for a while but eventually it fails.
---
Let me make an analogy to religion. We’ve always been taught that mixing religion and politics is a dangerous pursuit, but one of the first things I learned in seminary was that religion and politics are never far apart.
---
In the last century, many Christian churches began to focus on inclusiveness and Christian unity became the primary core value. Divisive moral issues were ignored or downplayed. Individual behaviors were never judged. Emphasis was always placed on God’s forgiving love rather than on individual accountability to God. Thousands of sermons were given about how Jesus loved and kept company with sinners. Few of those sermons ever pointed out that Jesus always gave these parting words to the repentant sinner, “Go and sin no more.” Eventually even the word “sin”, became replaced with more gentle words such as “failings.
---
The irony of false Christian unity is plain to see. Those Christian churches that placed unity above everything , including adherence to Christian tradition and the Ten Commandments, have been losing membership for many years. Many old denominations are about to become extinct. Why?
---
Well, it would seem that those individuals whose core Christian values were strong enough sought out churches that were not afraid to proclaim and to uphold those values. On the other hand, those who valued unity above all else felt no loyalty to a church that proclaimed little more than ill-defined non-judgmental sweetness and light. They became what is known as “cafeteria Christians” and their tastes were as shallow and as fickle as their faith.
---
Please feel free to apply the above analogy to politics and political parties.
---
Right Truth posted that Unity08, the online third party that wants to find bi-partisan candidates to support for the presidential ticket, “has launched a unique online study that allows you to rank the presidential candidates and the issues facing the country.”
---
According to Unity08 (emphasis mine),
---
The latest GWU Battleground Poll (from Lake Research and the Tarrance Group) tells us lots that we've heard before: 70% of the people think the country is on the wrong track; 57% disapprove of the job the Republican president is doing; 52% disapprove of the job the Democrats are doing in Congress
---
But they went further. Asked which of these qualities is the most important in a Member of Congress, 32% said "strength of values and convictions" and twice as many, 64%, said "willingness to find practical workable solutions." 93% said Washington lawmakers put partisan politics ahead of the people, and an astonishing 71% say that of their very own Member of Congress.
---
No wonder that a plurality of Americans felt that in the future their children will be "worse off" than they are right now. That is an amazing finding in a country where our optimism is supposed to be the hallmark
---
What it says is that the people don't expect the politicians in either party to lead. That leaves it up to the people. Only the people can lead us out of this mess, starting now, starting here – literally, starting here, at Unity08.com. This is your site. This is your country. . .
---
Now the pollsters themselves (Republican Brian Tringali of the Tarrance Group and Democrat Celinda Lake of Lake Research Partners), provided the analysis of the results. I believe, however, that the analysis just might be a bit faulty or at best, spun. Perhaps Tringali and Lake are now part of the Unity 08 movement? Perhaps not, but one thing is for sure. This was a poll by and for bi-partisans.
---
According to the Washington Post, in quoting from and discussing this bi-partisan Battleground Poll, America is a “Pessimism Nation.” Here’s an excerp.
---
It's a warning to all the candidates that they have to straddle these two worlds: effectiveness and not being an insider, she (Lake) said. . .
---
Really? I don’t buy it. The Unity08 folks would love nothing better than to pull off the voting strength from the two major parties. If 32% of those polled want "strength of values and convictions," they aren’t about to jump ship into a watery feel-good ill-defined third party pool. And those 64%, who seek a "willingness to find practical workable solutions,” may find that our nation’s diametrically opposed core values make those solutions difficult, if not impossible, to achieve.
---
We are in a battle and yes it is a culture war. There are those who deny the war and there are those who want peace and unity at any price. But when 70% of the people polled think the country is on the wrong track, that’s cause for optimism because that means change will come! And change will come from those who hold together and are willing to stand their ground for America’s core values and principles.

And change will come from those who hold together and are willing to stand their ground for America’s core values and principles.
---
Continuing with the WP article . . .
---
Tringali said he and Lake were equally struck by the pessimism they found about the future. A plurality (38 percent) believe their children will be worse off in the future and only a third said they "think their own children will be better off than they are right now -- a drop of 7 points since January."
---
Tringali noted in his analysis of the findings that it would be "hard to overemphasize" what a sea change this represents in the attitudes of a country that long has prided itself on its optimism.
Tringali noted in his analysis of the findings that it would be "hard to overemphasize" what a sea change this represents in the attitudes of a country that long has prided itself on its optimism.
---
More surprising is where the pessimism is most intense: among white Americans rather than African Americans or Latinos. Tringali said pluralities of African Americans and Latinos believe their children will be better off than they are. Only 29 percent of whites believe that will be the case; 38 percent believe their children will be worse off. . .
---
So for all those disillusioned pessimists who feel that Unity is more important than any other value, Unity08 might just be their cup of tea. As for me, I’ll stand with those strong conservatives who are willing to fight the battle to defend our traditional American values .
---
Remember Lincoln’s words because National unity comes with a steep price tag. Before we jump onto the Unity bandwagon, we must continue our battle to define, to preserve, and to defend our Nation’s core values, because eventually , “It will become all one thing or all the other”.

Discrediting the Family as an Institution: THE BIG PICTURE
Why our public schools are circumventing parental authority – encouraging students to lie to their parents – and are attempting to destroy the very fabric of family and society. . .
It’s amazing to me – absolutely amazing - that, according to Google, less than 400 blogs have even covered the story of Deerfield High School, and it’s been almost a full day since the last news coverage of this issue.
Summary: Deerfield High School freshman students are required to attend a Gay-Straight Alliance Network panel discussion led by "gay" and "lesbian" upper classmen promoting the homosexual agenda. No alternative viewpoint is presented. Students are also required to sign a “Confidentiality Agreement” that they will not reveal the content of this course to their parents.
For more background please read the following articles we ran Thursday and Friday:
“Confidentiality Promise”: Don’t Tell Your Parents, School Says “Don’t Tell Your Parents”, and
Stop the ACLU 3/15/07.
While it is important that conservative bloggers are highly focused on several vital issues such as the War in Iraq, the War on Terrorism, Illegal Aliens, the 2008 elections, etc., it appears that we are missing THE BIG PICTURE.
Let’s remember that we want to win the war in Iraq to stabilize the Mid East, to strengthen the new democracy in Iraq, and, most importantly, to protect America from terrorism on our soil.
We want to win the war on Terrorism to protect freedom in America and in the world.
We want to control immigration to protect America from an invasion of illegal immigrants that have no loyalty to America, nor any wish to assimilate into American culture.
We are enmeshed in dissecting leftist liberal talking points as we angst about the dangerous prospects of the 2008 elections.
But what is THE BIG PICTURE that we are missing?
When our public schools force children to sign an illegal and unenforceable “Confidentiality Promise” that they will lie by withholding information from their parents, folks the war to save America is already lost!
Sadly the incident in Deerfield, Illinois is NOT an isolated incident. Any school district in the US that has a “Social Justice Unit” may already be involved in offering such unbalanced propaganda courses that require parental deception because they promote only one particular viewpoint. Parents must not abdicate their parental authority to the state! Parents must become involved in their children’s schools!
Please be aware that these are just some of the complaints lodged by Deerfield High School parents:
The teachers are not required to give full disclosure as to the content in their lesson plans.
They do not present alternative viewpoints even though they claim to welcome diverse views.
Parents have repeatedly asked for a panel to speak on the subject of homosexuality from a moral and medical view but have been denied.
Parents have asked to see the materials and the school refuses to give access to parents. Illinois state code says any member of public is allowed to view all curriculums.
Those children who disagreed or who refused to sign were taken into hall and intimidated into signing. They were made to stand up in class if they objected to the material. One child spoke out against these curricula and was called anti-Semitic because there was Jewish student on the gay student panel.
Requests by parents to observe the class have been refused.
Note: It is a violation of Illinois state law and school policy for teachers to promote sexual behavior.
But why is this happening in our public schools?
Students of history remember that this tactic was successfully used in Communist controlled nations to indoctrinate children into Communism. Children were encouraged to spy on their parents and to lie to their parents.
Yesterday Glen Beck reminded his radio listeners about the “Current Communist Goals” to take over the U.S. as entered into the Congressional Record January 10th 1963. (See Congressional Record--Appendix, Vol. 109, 88th Congress, 1st Session Appendix Pages A1-A2842 [pp. A34-A35], Jan. 9-May 7, 1963)
There were 45 Communist Goals to take over the U.S. Anyone who reads these chilling goals will recognize that almost all of the goals have already been accomplished.
I want to draw your specific attention to the following Communist Goals:
17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch."
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.
42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.
