Israel And Iran Nearing Point Of No Return

Israel And Iran Nearing Point Of No Return

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

When US military forces leave Iraq next month, Israel’s door to Iran will swing wide open.  Iraqi airspace will be available for Israel’s air force for the first time since US troops invaded Iraq.

Tensions have been ramping up between the two government’s for the past year, or so, especially since Obama’s announcement that US forces would leave Iraq next month.

As a police officer many, many, decades ago, I learned, first hand, that some people just don’t know when to shut up.  Many times a police officer will find that he has to separate two people shouting threats at each other.  While one calms down the other continues, even after being warned multiple times to be quiet, shouting epithets, curses, and threats at his former antagonist.  More often that not, the loud-mouth finds him/herself face down on the ground, with his hands cuffed behind him, and on his way to jail.  As we indicated, some people just cannot grasp that there is a time to shut one’s mouth -- and keep it shut.

Such, it would seem, is Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran.  He continues yammering when he should simmer down.  One must consider the possibility that he is attempting to convince himself (more than anyone else) that Iran can destroy Israel. Ahmadinejad is on the brink of a rude awakening. He is about to talk himself into a thrashing of biblical proportions.

On the other hand Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, has had more than enough of Mr. Ahmadinejad’s threats and posturing as well as Iran’s arming of proxy troops in nations surrounding Israel.  For Netanyahu -- it is put up or shut up time for Iran.

There is an extremely thin line of resistance to a preemptive attack on Iran in the Israeli government.  That resistance can dissipate at a moment’s notice, however.

I find it extremely difficult to believe that Iran has any idea of the strength and lethality of the Israeli Defense Forces.

When the attack begins, it will not be simply an air attack.  It will be a three-pronged attack by the air, land, and sea forces of Israel.  It will rival America’s “shock and awe” attack on Iraq.

This projection is based on Israel going it alone -- without US assistance. However, I expect US naval assets will guarantee the Straits of Hormuz will remain open, when the attack begins, and be joined in that effort by Israeli naval forces immediately after the opening few hours of battle.

Should the US Navy elect to stand down during Israel’s attack, the Israeli navy and IDF Special Forces are quite capable of removing Iranian missile emplacements that would certainly be used to fire on oil tankers and naval vessels in an attempt to close the Straits to out bound oil bearing ships.  An air attack on the Straits will be met by US aircraft -- defending the waterway -- and quickly smashed.

Netanyahu is former member of the IDF Special Forces.  He is no novice when it comes to matters of war.  Netanyahu’s brother was killed in the Israeli raid on the Entebbe airport in which many hostages from a highjacked airliner were being held.  The hostages were freed but the Netanyahu family, like so many Israeli families, felt the loss of a loved one to military conflict.  There can be no doubt that Netanyahu knows the pain of war.  He also understands that if Israel is to survive, it will be called upon, once again, to sacrifice it’s young on the bloody alter of war.

Delaying the inevitable is only going to intensify the conflict when it comes and probably extend it, as well. The IDF has been training for this war for years now.  Israel’s troops are keen, sharp, and leaning forward.  A number of its assets are; no doubt, already forward deployed and awaiting orders.

Even as US forces are leaving Iraq, the US is already building up its forces “in the area.”  It is said, publicly, to be a back up in case the experiment in nation building in Iraq begins to crumble – or -- Iran starts trouble in Iraq.

The fact is, that once hostilities commence between Iran and Israel, Iran will most certainly make every effort it possibly can to kill American troops in the area they consider their sphere of influence. Therefore, it will be nigh on to impossible for the US to remain on the sidelines.

Americans must face the fact that America is at war and will remain in a state of war for as far as the eye can see into the future.  The US government should understand this and immediately cease all talk of cutting funding for the only thing that stands between Americans and their freedom:  The US Military.

How To Destroy A Friendship

By Findalis of Monkey in the Middle

Friendship is defined as:  A friendly feeling or disposition.  Yet in the last week we have witnessed President Barack Hussein Obama destroy the special relationship the United States has had with Israel.  A relationship based on mutual trust, understanding, and respect.  As of Thursday, all that is now a one-way street, with Israel being the friend and the United States actively and openly working to destroy the tiny Jewish state.

In doing this without condemning the violence perpetrated towards Israel, the official indoctrination of Anti-Semitism into the minds of Arab children, the rewriting of history with the purpose of distorting and obliterating the presence of the Jewish people from the Land of Israel, and finally the daily calls for the destruction of the State of Israel has displayed to the world (And especially Jewish voters.) that the United States is no longer a full partner with Israel but just one of many who condemn the Jewish state.

This has left Israel with very few options.  They can no longer trust the United States to veto resolutions in the Security Council that condemn it for any whim the Arab/Muslim world decides to invent.  And let us face it, these idiots invent so many things against the only beacon of freedom in the Middle East.

On Thursday President Obama was 45 minutes late in addressing the State Department in his second major address to the Muslim world.  He was on the phone with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu of Israel who was vainly trying to get him to remove the  passage:  1967 borders.   This Obama did not do, nor was he going to.  In doing this, President Obama has effectively backed the Israelis into a corner.  They cannot return to the Auschwitz Borders, nor can they use it as the starting base in negotiations.

Without condemning Hamas for the rocket fire into Southern Israel, or Fatah for the murder of Israelis (Especially the slaughter of the Fogel family.), President Obama has effectively turned the Foreign Policy of the United States in a 180 degree turn away from Israel.

This is leaving President Obama with a problem here at home.  To be exact a Jewish Problem here at home.  While in 2008 President Obama received over 78% of the Jewish vote, today that support is down to 55% (The exact same number that Jimmy Carter received in 1980.) and it is dropping.  While in 2008 the Obama campaign found that their major donors were Jews, today donations from The Tribe is down 60%.  The more President Obama's foreign policy turns away from Israel and towards the Muslim world, the more Jews will desert him in favor of a candidate that is more appealing to their values.  In an economy that is doing well, with low gas prices, this wouldn't even be an issue.  As we know the economy is going to hell in a handbasket, gas is rising out of sight, and this is now a big issue with the Jewish voters.

As for what Israel will do.  Sources in the Israeli government have remarked that they are looking for a new partner.  A new friend.  Russia, France and Great Britain are no friends.  Their record of official anti-Semitism for centuries destroys that idea.  Instead the Israelis are sending out feelers towards China.  China needs a source of high technology.  While the Arabs have oil in abundance, they are very low on the Leaders of Technology scale.  And while Israel is very short on oil, it is a Leader in Technology (In robotics it will surpass the United States and Japan by 2015.).  China will be able to buy oil from anyone, but gaining the technological advantage takes more than money.  Takes a willing partner to help them.

It is a shame that the United States under the "leadership" of Barack Hussein Obama has destroyed the friendship between Israel and the United States and may have helped China become a technological giant by forcing a friendship between Israel and China.

Massive US Naval Build-Up Off the Shores of Iran

Massive US Naval Build-Up Off the Shores of Iran
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

**********************

In an article entitled: “Obama starts massive US Air-Sea-Marine build-up opposite Iran” Debkafile reports on a massive US Naval build -up currently underway in the Persian Gulf waters off Iran’s shore. You can read the article in its entirety at:
http://www.debka.com/article/8794/

We urge you to read the article and form your own opinion as to what is going on off the shores of Iran.

So – what IS going on? Is the stage being set for the long expected attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities? Well, nobody is going to admit that, even if it were true. Is the US stationing itself, strategically, between Iran and Israel – as a clear warning to Israel NOT TO ATTACK IRAN? With the Obama Regime clearly showing no favor for Israel, one must consider that possibility.

As one looks at the Iranian defense, especially the new Russian “Surface to Air Missiles,” one must consider the option of boots on the ground, inside Iran, to take out those mobile missiles by either hands-on destruction or painting the targets with lasers for aircraft using stand-off munitions to take out. Of course, we are describing a task, which would be undertaken by Special Forces troops. Both Israel and the US have outstanding Special Forces who certainly have the capability to complete such a mission.

On the other hand, the US has the option of using its stealth aircraft to take out Iran’s nuclear facilities. The Russian SAM’s can’t shoot ‘em if they can’t see “em!

If stealth aircraft are to be involved in this mission, whatever it is, there will likely be no reports on their movement for they fly out of US bases, here in the states, and return to those same bases after their mission is complete.

Whatever the mission, this is a very large and a very visible task force assembling off Iran. SOMETHING IS going on.

It is important to remember the value of keeping the Straits of Hormuz open for the world’s flow of oil to continue unimpeded when the strike on Iran begins. Iran has made it clear they will make an effort to block the straits immediately when the shooting begins. Certainly one task of the US Armada will be to secure the straits from attack by the Iranians.

Remember, too, that when THIS war begins it will be fought in the air, on land, and at sea. I should think that depending upon the intensity of the conflict and the durability of the Iranian forces, the use of tactical battlefield nukes would certainly be considered. We KNOW the US has them and we THINK Israel has them as well.

With the American public signaling their war weariness it is unthinkable that the current regime would undertake another war they were sure could not be ended successfully and quickly. Tactical nukes would do that.

Whatever is up, this naval flotilla, gathering off the shores of Iran, sends a very strong signal that the US is not intimidated by Iran’s military posturing. And it is never, ever, wise to thumb one’s nose at the IDF. As the biblical story of David and Goliath points out, all too clearly, Israel has a very long record of defeating superior military forces.

Iran has rattled the tiger’s cage far too often.

Take ANOTHER LOOK!

Take ANOTHER Look!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
*******************************

The article below entitled: “Socialism and Obama” was first published in September of 2008… before the Presidential Election in which B. H. Obama was elected President of the United States. As you can see, we had Mr. Obama pegged for the socialist/communist he turned out to be.

It STILL is a source of persistent concern for me that the American electorate could have been so willfully BLIND to Mr. Obama’s communist sympathies, which he now flaunts through the policies he has enacted in his very first year in Office. As a result, the United States has, very nearly, collapsed -- finding itself in the worst financial shape it has experienced since the Great Depression of the last century! THIS is what Socialism does! THIS is what Communism does!

Even today, in January of 2010, the US is teetering on the cusp of a second recession which, if it happens, will render the country destitute.

I find it very difficult to empathize with my fellow Americans who opine and moan that they voted for Obama, not knowing he was a socialist/communist! I am compelled to ask the burning question: “Where the hell WERE you, then?” As you can see in the article below we trumpeted it from the rooftops of the nation!

It is too late now to correct the national mistake made last November. The damage done to the US will take generations to repair, IF it CAN be repaired. In the meantime, we will have no choice but to suffer the pain we have brought upon ourselves - and make no mistake about it: WE DID THIS TO OURSELVES!

This coming November, if the Obama Regime allows it, we will have the national Mid-Term Elections. If the American voter has any sense left, AT ALL, he/she/they will flood to the polls and vote out of office every incumbent who supported the Obama Regime in ANY WAY, and to any degree. If we truly want to save America, we will do that. If we don’t do it, then America is finished. Her greatness will be a thing of the past. Her glory will fade like that of ancient Rome, and her exceptional history will forever be relegated to that place where mankind stores his hoard of myths and legends. The lofty perch of world leadership will be vacated while humanity waits in nervous trepidation for America’s successor.

It most certainly IS true that democracies are their own worst enemies. For democracies run the risk of making dumb, hurtful, mistakes in choosing leadership. Mistakes at the ballot box can destroy a democracy -- as America is learning today. It is a costly lesson. And worse, it may yet be unlearned! We won’t know until after the polls close in November.

Below is the article as it was published in September of 2008.

Socialism and Obama.
By: J. D. Longstreet
******************************
The Communist Party USA newspaper, the “People’s Weekly World”, has an editorial you need to read if you have any doubt about where Obama’s support is coming from. Actually, every American voter should read it.The paper may be found online at:
http://www.pww.org/

The article to which we’d like to which we’d like to direct your attention is titled:“Eye on the Prize.” You’ll find it at:
http://www.cpusa.org/article/articleview/975/1/27/

We have been telling you, since day one, that Obama is preaching socialism. If there was any doubt, at all, this should remove it.The folks over at CNSNews.com have an excellent article about it. You’ll find it at:
http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=33971

This should come as no surprise to anyone. The democrat/socialists are currently in charge of the legislative branch of the US government. If they manage to get a socialist in the Oval Office, you can bet the Supreme Court is next. Then, what’s left? Think about it.

The big question American voters have been asking is: “Are we Americans ready for a “rookie” in the White House?” I submit to you (as have a number of other conservative scribes) the question ought to be: “Are Americans ready for a socialist in the White House?”

Obama is the most liberal senator in the US Senate. We know this from his record. We should all understand, especially Americans supporting Obama, that we are asking for socialist laws and socialist programs to be pushed through the Congress of the US if we have Obama in the Oval Office and a “veto-proof” Democratic Congress.

John Voight, an Academy Award-winning actor well known for his humanitarian work said the following in an op-ed piece titled: “My Concerns For America. Obama sowing socialist seeds in young people”. Mr. Voight wrote the piece recently for The Washington Times: “If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.” You can read the entire article at:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jul/28/voight/

Look, socialism does not work! Oh, it looks great on paper, but in practice it corrupts and corrodes and finally rots a country’s core until that country collapses in on itself. History has taught us that. But, if you have not been taught history and you are ignorant of the trail of collapsed socialist countries littering the landscape of human history then, yes, you may find socialism’s promises compelling. For those of us who have studied history, and (at my age), have lived history, it scares the hell out of us! We have watched our beloved country, over the past few years, drift ever closer to European State Socialism… and it is frightening.

Mr. Obama, and the democrat/socialists, currently in charge of our government, worship(s) the ideals of socialism. They talk of “fairness’ and “redistribution of the national wealth” (and of individual wealth), of government run “universal healthcare”, and bigger and bigger government wielding more and more power over individual’s lives. And then… there is Obama’s embrace of the United Nations.

Ever hear of something called The Global Poverty Act? It is Senate Bill s2433 introduced by Obama on December 7th, of 2007. The bill is supposed to compel (require) the President of the US to devise and implement strategies to promote the reduction of global poverty, and even eliminate extreme global poverty, and to promote the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day." A high sounding goal, right? Well, what will such a plan cost the US taxpayers? How about 845 billion US dollars (spread over thirteen years), over and above the foreign aid we already provide for struggling nations and peoples around the globe? And, even more troubling… where will that money come from? Of course, it will come from the pockets of you and me and the other US taxpayers. There is an excellent article on this by Lee Cary at the American Thinker at:
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/02/the_global_candidate_proposes.html

I don’t know about you, but, to me, the Global Poverty Act sounds like just another way to buy friends. As Mr. Cary says: “In other words, other nations will like us better if we give them our money”.In an article by Cliff Kincaid at the Accuracy in Media website titled: “Obama’s International Socialist Connections”, Mr. Kincaid says: “Obama's socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat… DSA describes itself as the largest socialist organization in the United States and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International. The Socialist International (SI) has what is called "consultative status" with the United Nations. In other words, it works hand-in-glove with the world body.” You can read the entire article at:
http://www.aim.org/aim-column/obamas-international-socialist-connections

Benjamin Franklin, one of the Founding Fathers of this republic, is credited with having said: “When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.” Franklin was, of course, correct.

When one looks at the decided drift of the US toward socialism and the Obama juggernaut pushing with all it’s might in that same direction, one must ask… have we reached the end of the US Republic?

I Never Thought It Would Come To This!

by Findalis

I was raised to believe that all people living in the United States would be safe and secure in their homes, schools, temples or churches and businesses. But in the last few years it seems that is no longer the case. Especially for Jewish Americans.

We have witnessed an upsurge in the number of violent acts either committed against Jews, such as the attack in Seattle which the killer was given a mistrial. Or the attack on the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. Then there was the group of American Muslims who planned a series of attacks on Jewish targets.

The authorities did a good job with those, but the Jewish community knows they and our elected leaders allow behavior such as this:

to occur without a word condemning it.

Once, in Europe
, Jews finally had enough and took up the sword. American Jews have had enough it seems. They now know that the government will not protect them. They now know that they have to protect themselves. And they are doing just that.
Starting in late July, a group of Israeli combat veterans will be holding a training camp in New York to teach advanced self-defense techniques to Jews in U.S. communities. An increasing number of American Jews have expressed interest in the program following a wave of anti-Semitic incidents worldwide over the past year, organizers report.

The group calls itself Kitat Konenut New York – a reference to the “rapid response teams” active throughout Judea and Samaria. Rapid response teams in Israel, comprised of local civilians who are IDF veterans, have often been the first on the scene of terrorist attacks and other emergencies, and have prevented casualties.

It was founded in 2006 in response to a shooting attack at a Jewish center in Seattle, Washington. One woman was murdered in the attack, and several others were wounded.

Kitat Konenut in action (Israel news photo: Kitat Konenut)

The group is apolitical, and does not take part in demonstrations. “Our agenda is to protect Jews,” says group member Yonatan Stern.

However, the group does have a firmly held political belief. “We believe in the constitutional right to bear arms,” Stern says. Kitat Konenut encourages all American Jews to learn how to use weapons, and to purchase their own firearms for self-defense.

I guess this is the sort of unification and change that we were promised under President Obama. It is more like the return to the regime under that great Muslim hero: Adolph Hitler. Seen here with his good pal the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem.

I suppose that the President just forgot about this bit of Muslim history when he made his historic address in Cairo.

Dear President Obama

By Findalis

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Lou Pritchett
Lou Pritchet is a former vice president of Procter & Gamble whose career at that company spanned 36 years before his retirement in 1989, and he is the author of the 1995 business book, Stop Paddling & Start Rocking the Boat.

Mr. Pritchett confirmed that he was indeed the author of the much-circulated "open letter." “I did write the 'you scare me' letter. I sent it to the NY Times but they never acknowledged or published it. However, it hit the internet and according to the ‘experts’ has had over 500,000 hits.

America 'Moves Towards Abandonment of Israel'

By Findalis

It is very unusual for a former intelligence official to come forward and speak about current American policy. So when one did for Northeast Intelligence Network (NIN) I took notice.

An unnamed former highly-placed U.S.intelligence official has broken silence and says that America may soon be abandoning Israel in favor of the Arabs. “This is just the beginning”, he said, "Israel could be about to lose the support of the United States."

The source made these remarks in an exclusive interview with Douglas J. Hagmann, the director of the Northeast Intelligence Network (NIN), which is comprised of veteran licensed professional investigators, analysts, military affairs specialists and researchers. The group has combined their resources to provide accurate and well-sourced information via their website.

When questioned about the possible abandonment of Israel by America, Hagmann told Yonah, "The Obama administration is no friend to Israel, is no friend to the Jews in America and is no friend to democracy or freedom in America. …Just by his very appointments, we can see him filling positions of power with people who are anti-Semitic, who want to see Israel essentially dissolved as a nation, if not by diplomacy, then certainly by war."

In his report, the unnamed intelligence source told Hagmann, “I have every reason to believe, based on what I’ve seen at my level of [security] clearance especially over the last several years, that Israel will soon be completely on their own… or worse.” He explained this would happen “when our administration provides more support to Arab countries [with] financial and military aid, undercutting Israel’s defense efforts all while pushing Israel to succumb to the pressure of unreasonable demands designed to end with their political annihilation as a nation.”

Haggman told Yonah that this official broke silence because he had already retired from his highly placed position, and because of his knowledge of the NIN's (Northeast Intelligence Network) position as pro-Israel and the way it valued the relationship between Israel and America. Another reason, he said, was his own perception of the Biblical aspect of this scenario developing.

The intelligence officer explained that the turnover of American policy towards Israel could occur through a manner that he dubbed 'malicious intelligence," which Haggman defined as information that is taken from its raw form. It then is morphed into something else to promote different interests, "where intelligence and politics meet and often collide,” he said. A method “that has been molded and massaged to advance the agendas of a select few,” he elaborated.

In the case of the relationship between America and Israel, he noted, malicious intelligence is being used to turn over the U.S. to a more anti-Israel policy and forge ahead with a more pro-PA or pro-Islamist one.

Hagmann told Yonah in the radio interview, "A perfect example of this is when there was a shooting in Seattle a couple of years ago at a Jewish center. The police were ordered by the city officials and by the Federal Government, basically, to not protect the synagogues and other Jewish centers in Seattle, but to have protection details [instead] at the mosques in Seattle."

U.S. administrations have apparently been following a policy of abandoning Israel for several years, according to Hagmann's report. His interview with the intelligence official cited "the 2005 surrender of Gush Katif to the Palestinian Authority as one critical example of the slow dismantlement of Israel as a viable nation. Despite critical intelligence outlining in every possible manner imaginable that this would be a disastrous move leading to the events we are seeing today [rocket and missile fire on Israel], it was done anyway," he stated.

In the report that Hagmann posted on the NIN (Northeast Intelligence Network) he cited one of his sources explaining, “Now you can see where intelligence and politics meet and often collide,… " the Obama administration is being purposely filled with people who are truly anti-Israel, either because of their own financial interests or a larger globalist agenda that does not include Israel, or for that matter, the United States as a sovereign nation.

"Whatever the reason, the anti-Israel, pro-Islamist policy makers will be appointed or have already infiltrated nearly all levels of the U.S. government. These are the people who place anti-Semitic references in school textbooks, promote revisionist history regarding Islam, 9/11, and are the same people who allow or even promote the Islamic agendas in all aspects of Western society, especially the restrictions on speech against Islam.

"With regard to the latter, note that the United Nations is quite involved in forcing the restriction of “hate speech” and the implementation of global standards, some that have already been adapted by European nations,” noted the source.

Hagmann reports that "the Middle East will be the site of 'the coming war,' and Israel will be at its epicenter. If we survive as a nation, the U.S. will not be on the side of righteousness in this war, instead turning our back to - or our guns against - our only true friend in the Middle East - Israel," he said.

Before Obama was elected, I warned that he wasn't a friend of Israel or the Jewish people. He was raised by Muslim father who taught him to hate Jews. He sat at the feet of an avowed anti-Semite for 20 years who called for the destruction of Israel and the Jewish people. His wife was the one who introduced them. But we are not to believe that he is not one.

Right! I have a bridge to sell in Brooklyn.

Not only is he going to destroy Israel, but he will fulfill the goal of every Muslim in the world. The elimination of all Jews from the face of the Earth.

That would have made both his father and step-father very proud!

About Roger Gardner and Radarsite: Friendships in the Blogosphere

Cross-posted by Maggie at Maggie's Notebook

It is odd how well we can get to know a person by their blogs. When someone writes consistently, daily, and writes about subjects affecting our daily lives, our writing is a perfect profile of who we are.

I "met" Roger Gardner seven months ago. It seems much longer. The bloggers in my circle of blogger friends do not trade much personal information back and forth...just enough to ask for prayers when one of us, or one of ours, needs prayer. We might know a little about another's children or grandchildren...and we might not. What we do know is that we are all passionate about traditional American values. That is our common bond.

Roger obsessed over the elections. He laid-out all of his election emotion in his writing. He was "up" in spirits in one post, and "down" in spirits in the next. He waged the battle. He never gave up. In a recent post, he said:

Of course my friends think I take it all too seriously. They have a much healthier view of it all, a much more cavalier attitude. Politics is politics, they say. It's the same old game. Not worth getting yourself all upset about it. Liberals who have responded to my emotional pleas and dire warnings have invariably characterized me as a bitter, lonely, hate-filled right-winger racist, an obsessive anti-social paranoid, clinging to a semi-mythical and long-gone past. An uptight reactionary, fearful of change, stubbornly rejecting the promise of a bright future.
Most of us did not think he took it "all too seriously." We recognized that he could put it into words better than most of us, and was driven to do so.

The elections are over. Now Roger has another battle to wage. Here is his message.

Dear loyal Radarsite readers --

This is a strange message for me to be writing. But it must be done. But how? What can I say? I think I'll just say it up front. Two days ago I got diagnosed with acute leukemia. It is considered "lethal". I have been told that it could come to an end in as short a time as 2 weeks. I have been allowed to come home for one night before I go into the hospital tomorrow for chemo. If I survive the first week, things could get better, if I survive four weeks thing could really get better.

However, as of now, the first prognosis does seem the most likely. I think we all wonder how we might react to news like this. At this point I can tell you that I am in a good mood, and I have accepted it and I have nothing but gratitude that I have been allowed to live this long, and to have found such a fulfilling mission this late in life.

I am so grateful to have made so many good friends and to have found so many worthy patriots who love this great country of ours as much as I do, not despite what we have done but because of what we have done.

This may be my last article and of course I would like it to be my best. I would like to fill it with everything I have learned or felt. I would like to say something really profound and meaningful, but I just can't. I'm getting too tired right now to go much further.

I can only say thank you for all I have learned from you and for your steadfast loyalty. My fondest hope of course would be that I would come back home all cured and find this article to be an embarrassment to me. lol But of course that's not up to me.

Please, all of you, all of you who are my fellow warriors, all of you who have commented here, and all of you who have been quiet readers, keep up the good fight, and I hope that you have enjoyed me as much as I have enjoyed you.

With great respect,
Roger W. Gardner

Secure Our Future Now Report

Originally posted at Right Truth

This is the Sovereignty and Security Update for December 2007. It is critical that we remain informed activists, and the Sovereignty and Security update is a monthly e-mail dedicated to keeping you abreast of current news on national security and sovereignty issues. This issue of the Sovereignty and Security Update will discuss the Law of the Sea Treaty and the immigration policies of the candidates seeking the GOP nomination for President.

Immigration and Amnesty

With the presidential primary elections right around the corner, nothing could be more important than being educated about the positions of the Presidential Candidates on the issues. Immigration policy is one of the hottest issues this cycle, so below are links to all of the GOP Candidates' immigration policy pages so you can be more informed about where they stand on the issues.

Law of the Sea Treaty

The UN Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) has become a hot issue in recent weeks, though it is far from new. When Ronald Reagan was serving as President, he was instrumental in keeping the U.S. from ratifying LOST. Senator Inhofe opposes the treaty and contends that none of the issues raised by President Reagan, including the ceding of economic and security authority to international bureaucrats, have changed. U.S. endorsement of LOST would greatly diminish US sovereignty and empower a supranational bureaucracy - the International Seabed Authority (ISA) - with unprecedented powers to regulate seven-tenths of the earth's surface, levy taxes, govern ocean research and exploration, and create a multinational court to render and enforce its judgments.

Almost every conservative organization, from the center for Security Policy to the Family Research Council, some 75 organizations in total, is armed with facts and ready to fight the LOST treaty with Senator Inhofe. To date, GOP presidential candidates Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Fred Thompson, and Mike Huckabee have publicly stated their opposition to the treaty.

World Net Daily: L.O.S.T. at sea

Presently, the Law of the Sea Treaty, derided by critics as "The LOST," is like an encrusted artifact on the ocean floor just waiting to be excavated. Since 1982, it has periodically resurfaced for cloaked Senate committee debate only to re-submerge in the heat of analysis. The salvagers ?in this case the U.N. ? have the treaty in their sounding crosshairs and merely await U.S. Senate confirmation before officially implementing their oceanic redistribution of wealth from the richer nations, i.e. the U.S., to the smaller ones.

Want proof of this socialist agenda? Just look at Article 82, Section 4, which states that the International Seabed Authority "shall distribute them (payments) to States ... on the basis of equitable sharing criteria, taking into account the interests and needs of developing States, particularly the least developed ... among them."

One needs only to go so far as the treaty's preamble to see that it could be used as a Marxist primer, with the words "an important contribution to the maintenance of peace, justice and progress for all peoples of the world." In fact, the 202 pages are filled with socialist code phrases, including "just and equitable economic order," "for the benefit of mankind as a whole" and "the common heritage of mankind."

As a career professional mariner, I recognize the need for free and orderly sea passage. I understand the U.S. military's support of the treaty on the grounds of seeking a legal framework to allow clear transit on, above and below straits. However, the military's tunnel-vision support is based strictly on the "right of innocent passage doctrine" and ignores numerous flaws to their own detriment.

Article 19 outlaws the practice or exercise of any kind of weapons in state territorial waters. What if a naval or commercial ship is boarded by pirates or terrorists in these waters? How can they defend themselves without first having to petition the International Seabed Authority, or ISA? For example, the Bab al-Mandab at the base of the Red Sea and the Malacca Straits in Southeast Asia are current hotspots of piracy. In 2003 alone, there were 445 reported incidents of ship attacks worldwide. Article 20 requires all unmanned vessels ? even submarines used for mine detection- to transit territorial waters on the surface.

One tradition the U.N. is attempting to trample upon is the sovereignty of salvagers to bring up valuable artifacts from sunken treasures. Historically, wrecks on the international ocean floor have fallen under the doctrine of "finders, keepers." Private treasure hunters have been outstanding stewards of historical objects and if it weren't for them, they never would have seen the light of day. Now, according to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the U.N.'s watchdog body, anything more than 100 years old may only be recovered if it can be displayed in a public museum for perpetuity. With a cost of up to $50,000 per day for recovery operations, what is the incentive to find these glorious objects?

Marine scientists should be aware that, should the treaty come to pass, when working in international waters they would be de-facto employees of the U.N. In Article 144, the transfer of technology clause, the ISA has the authority to seize scientific research data and give it to other states under the power of eminent domain.

Article 150, the development of resources clause, allows the U.N. to play Uncle Hugo Chavez to oil and gas drilling companies by charging them a user fee and taxing their profits. The ISA has untrammeled power to socialize the seabed by deciding who it wants to extract resources. This is the equivalent of an international no-bid contract program. Iraq oil-for-food program, anyone? Do the accusations of Haliburton favoritism ring a bell?

Supporters claim it creates a global standard to protect living resources for future generations. However, under the conservation provisions, if nations do not harvest their entire allowable fish stocks within territorial waters, the surplus could be given to other nations, a policy that could result in forced overfishing and depletion of fish stocks.

On Oct. 31, 2007, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 17 to 4 to send the treaty to the full Senate for ratification. Though President Bush is pushing for its approval by year's end, it is not clear when that vote will take place; Spring of '08 appears likely. If it does pass, just know that a small, land-locked nation like Luxemburg and American adversary like Cuba will have as much power over the international seafloor as the U.S. - literally.

Should America Pull Out of the United Nations?

From Right Truth

Should America Pull out of the United Nations? An Historic Conference about the Demonization of Israel at the UN that Has Not Been Covered by the Mainstream Media, by Phyllis Chesler

I once worked at the United Nations and have vowed that someday I will write about what a soul-scorching experience it was—especially for someone who was and still is a white Jewish-American feminist and Zionist. I had to absorb the most virulent, almost surreal hatred because of who I am and for the views that I hold. This happened long before I was perceived to have crossed any political aisle.

At the time, when I tried to tell people about this, few wanted to understand. The UN diplomat’s dining room was so elegant, the parties and social circles so colorful and so career-building that even radical feminists did not want to understand that the tyrants and mediocrities that dominated the UN would never, ever police themselves and that sexism, racism, poverty, and even genocide would remain unchecked by this corrupt international body.

Friends: This was twenty-seven years ago and matters have only gotten worse. The United Nations has been effective in only one matter. It has increasingly legalized Jew-hatred by its demonization of Israel.

This past Sunday, a major conference on this very subject was held in New York City. Unfortunately, at the last moment, I could not attend it. To the best of my knowledge, only two articles about this conference have so far appeared: In the Jerusalem Post HERE and on the internet website War to Mobilize Democracy (WMD) HERE. However, journalist Fern Sidman, who wrote the WMD piece, has sent me an extended version of her piece which I have posted HERE.

Please understand that powerful figures spoke at this conference, including former American Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, Senator Norman Coleman, and Congressman Thaddeus McCotter.

I share Congressman McCotter’s view that both the United States and Israel, who pay the largest amount of money to the UN, should pull out of it and form a new alliance of democracies, or as McCotter suggests, a “Liberty Alliance.” I know, there are other views that claim that the humanitarian work done by the UN justifies even the corrupt political hierarchy and that Israel must continue seeking a group that will allow her to join them; currently, Israel is not allowed to be part of either the Middle East or European group and is therefore a permanent non-member of the Security Council.

Let me congratulate Herb London and Anne Bayefsky who hosted this conference and who have continued to work on this important subject.

Dear Readers: What do you think? Should America leave the United Nations? If not, what chance do you think America has of reforming this body? And if you think it has absolutely no chance—what is your thinking about why we should still remain a dues-paying member? Do you want your taxes going to support non-intervention in Darfur and the demonization of Israel?

AMADINEJAD AND THE SAUDIS PLAN TO DISRUPT FREE SPEECH ON AMERICAN CAMPUSES STARTING TOMMORROW

AMADINEJAD AND THE SAUDIS PLAN TO DISRUPT FREE SPEECH ON AMERICAN CAMPUSES STARTING TOMMORROW, Phyllis Chesler (posted by request)

We have just been informed that President Amadinejad, who himself enjoyed no disruption when he spoke at Columbia University, has called upon American students and faculty to disrupt the handful of panels and lectures at Columbia University and at the more than one hundred other universities where Islamo-Fascist Awareness Week will take place from October 22nd to October 26th, 2007.

By the way, the term “Islamo-fascism” was coined by Algerian Muslims and ex-Muslims to characterize the Islamic fanatics who slaughtered 150,000 of their Algerian Muslim brethren in the 1990s—and all in the name of Allah.

I am speaking at Columbia on a panel with my esteemed colleagues Ibn Warraq and Christina Hoff-Sommers on the evening of October 24th. David Horowitz, whose Freedom Center has organized the week-long Teach-In, is speaking there at noon on October 26th.

There will be security, cameras, and perhaps even media. These add-ons have become increasingly necessary in order that those who hold minority anti-fascist viewpoints may nevertheless engage in the joys of academic freedom.

We have also just been informed that Saudi money, (what an everlasting surprise), has apparently funded the various pro-Palestinian, anti-American, and anti-Israeli campus groups to launch a defamation and disruption campaign against us. And, the religious Jewish left has also weighed in with an emailed campaign that opposes our telling the truth about how Muslims are blowing other Muslims up, and persecuting women, intellectuals, and homosexuals.

Apparently, if you don’t blame America first, and Israel soon thereafter; and if you don’t continually apologize for the Christian Crusades and for the West’s past colonialism and imperialism—you do not deserve to speak or, perhaps, to live. This way of thinking represents an utter failure to understand that jihad against infidels and other barbarisms are intrinsic to the Arab Muslim Middle East and were not necessarily caused by Western actions.

As to Columbia: In 2004, my answer to a single question sparked a near-riot and I had to be hustled out for my safety. In 2005, the graduate students at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA—the group that invited Amadinejad), boycotted a student-organized and rather illustrious panel about Israel of which I was a member. Also in 2005, at an all-day conference with enormous security, my words still “provoked” a planned pro-Palestinian “acting up” (or is it “acting out” or “shaking off?”). There is more. You get the picture.

Today, speaking the truth about fascism means that you have to do so under hostile and perhaps even dangerous working conditions. The truth-tellers are defamed as “fascists” and “racists.” Those who silence all free speech other than their own view only themselves as anti-racist liberators.

I will have more to say about this. Stay tuned.
