Internet Perceived As A Threat By Government(s)

Internet Perceived As A Threat By Government(s)
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

Anytime people gather to discuss the shortcomings or “over comings” of their governments, those governments feel threatened.

In the world of the 21st century, the Internet is akin to a global town hall.  And that makes the Internet a HUGE threat to governments, everywhere.  They know it -- and they hate it.

Enter the UN.

“A gathering of United Nations diplomats overseas has some in the U.S. worried about a potential takeover of the Internet by foreign powers – with others claiming such fears are wildly over hyped.
The obscure branch of the U.N. at issue is the International Telecommunication Union, whose 193 member states include the U.S. and which was convening this week in Geneva. The ostensible purpose of the conference is to seek consensus for an updating of the last set of international telecom regulations, known as ITRs, which were issued in 1988.”  (SOURCE)

Ok.  So … why is this a concern?  Well, let’s go back to the story from Fox News:  “…Robert McDowell, a commissioner on the Federal Communications Commission, has been warning that the conference is a moment of great peril for industrialized and Third World countries alike. In an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal and a subsequent interview with Fox Business, McDowell accused the so-called “BRIC” countries – Brazil, Russia, India, and China – and their allies among developing nations of trying to seize the moment to strengthen international regulation of the Internet. Such a development, McDowell claimed, would imperil the Web’s historic role as an outlet for free expression and economic growth.”

If you are thinking that the statement by the FCC commissioner is really mind-boggling coming, as it is, from a member of an agency of the Obama Regime, then don’t.  Take a breath.  You see, Commissioner McDowell is a George Bush appointee to the FCC.

Telecommunication Union spokesman Gary Fowlie, in an interview with Fox news said:  “(International Telecommunication Union) members do not want heavy-handed regulation,” Fowlie went on to say: “There are no proposals on the table that would impact access to or freedom of the Internet." (SOURCE)

Danny Weitzner, deputy chief technology officer at the White House, is reported to have recently said:  “This multi-stakeholder process -- the process that the Internet community has pioneered in many ways -- I think works based on the fact that people have things they need to do together,” he told the Brookings audience. “It doesn't really work when one people tells someone else what to do. That's kind of the Marx command-and-control model.” (SOURCE)

Look.  It takes no stretch of the imagination to see where the UN is headed with all this. They want to control world wide instant communications between the people of the planet … period.

There was a time, and not so long ago, that in order for there to be a successful revolution or uprising of the people against their government, the rebels absolutely MUST take control of the country’s radio and TV stations. It remains a fact today, that for tinhorn dictators (who still dot the globe) control of broadcast stations and other means of communications -- including the Internet and the print media -- is imperative in order to maintain power over their people.

Just days ago, the world learned that Iran had simply turned off the Internet in that benighted country.  I’m not a technician, so I don’t know how, exactly, you do that, but the mad mullahs of Iran do … and they’ve done it.

Here, in what used to be a free America, we know the government has access to every e-mail we send … not to mention our landline phone calls and our cell phones, as well.  According to Col. Ollie North, the only communications the US government does not read are smoke signals.

The facts of the matter are plain.  It is only a matter of time before there is worldwide regulation of the Internet. The governments of the world, both good and bad, simply cannot allow people all over the globe to communicate with each other at will.  It is far too dangerous to their hold over us. The Internet must be regulated to protect THEM.  It is the same principle as dispersing a crowd of people to avoid a riot.

I submit that if Thomas Paine and Samuel Adams were alive today, they would be burning the Internet up with their rabble-rousing commentaries.  Just as their fiery tomes led to the revolt against Great Britain by her colonies in America, other commentators around the globe are having similar effects upon THEIR totalitarian governments.  THAT is a THREAT and it cannot be allowed to continue.

Sooner, or later, the Internet will be regulated and governed by a single international entity.  Bet on it.

US Should Stay Out of Syrian Mess

US Should Stay Out of Syrian Mess

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

There is every indication the Obama is about to order the US military to take some sort of action against Syria.

It is more of the UN’s policy, which is often referred to as “The Responsibility to Protect.”  And it is taxing America’s treasury and America’s already over-extended military.

Look.  Syria is just another Muslim country that seems never to be quite happy unless it is bleeding -- or causing someone else to bleed. THIS, dear reader is what happens when a people insist on living in the 12th century while the remainder of the world is 9 centuries ahead.

The US does not need another entanglement in the Middle East.  Believe me, we are headed for a regional conflagration in the area that will most certainly involve Syria, anyway.  There’s no point in wasting America’s military resources on another tinhorn dictator – at the moment.

Soon, Israel will take the reins in its teeth and attack Iran and the whole Middle East will blow up – including Syria.

But, I don’t think the US President is receptive to folks who offer common sense.  There is way too much evidenced to the contrary.  So, it is, I believe, only a matter of weeks before US aircraft will be flying missions over Syria.

Consider this from YnetNews.com:

'US to announce aerial blockade on Syria'

“The Pentagon is readying for the possibility of intervention in Syria, aiming to halt Syrian President Bashsar Assad's violent crackdown on protesters, the newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported Saturday, citing a US military offical.
According to the official, the intervention scenario calls for the establishment of a buffer zone on the Turkish border, in order to receive Syrian refugees. The Red Cross would then provide the civilians humanitarian aid, before NATO crews would arrive from Turkey and join the efforts.”
The measure would pave the way for the US to declare an aerial blockade on Syria.  (SOURCE)
So, here we go again!
You would think, by now, the eggheads in Washington and the elite universities would have realized there is no way to save Muslim countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya, and Syria from themselves. It simply cannot be done.  They made their choice hundreds of years ago to wallow in their backwards-tribal ways and their “woe-is-me” self-pity and their seething hatred for their fellow humans on this planet who chose to move forward and improve their lot in this life.
I heard a noted journalist ask a question recently in reference to the rioting and killing in Afghanistan.  She asked if this was the thanks the US got for nation building in Afghanistan?  It was intended – I THINK—as a rhetorical question.  I hope so, because the answer is obvious for the entire world to see.
It doesn’t matter a whit if the US stays in the Middle East, rescuing one Muslim country after the other for a hundred years, we will receive NO THANKS, we will continue to be despised and hated -- and they will still slit our throats (or behead us) at every opportunity afforded them.
Obama, it seems, believes he can save them.  It is his messiah complex, don’t you see. Why, the man is just so darned intelligent that he simple cannot see that he is being made a fool of by a bunch of wily desert and mountain tribesmen who quickly learned how to play him like a violin.
You would think he would be embarrassed – but you would be wrong.  It’s that “messiah” thing, you see.
In the meantime, Mr. Assad of Syria had better get his binoculars polished up and begin watching the skies for Obama’s drones.  On the home front, Americans can be prepared to foot the bills for another American military intervention they neither want nor can afford.

UN Seeks “World Tax” To Fund Global Socialism

UN Seeks “World Tax” To Fund Global Socialism

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

“No one should live below a certain income level,” stated Milos Koterec, President of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. “Everyone should be able to access at least basic health services, primary education, housing, water, sanitation and other essential services.”  (SOURCE)  We recommend that you click on the “source” and read the entire article by Paul Joseph Watson.

Why is the US still a member of the United Nations?  The UN is, in my opinion, the single greatest threat to American freedom and liberty on the planet today … and that’s saying a lot!

The UN has been finagling for decades to construct a global government (a one-world government) and rule over all the peoples of the earth.  National sovereignty be damned.

For the people of the United States it would mean the abrogation of the US Constitution.  Our loyalty would be to the UN -- not to the US Constitution.  UN law would prevail in America, not US law.

The UN has delusions of grandeur.  I mean REAL delusions.  Unfortunately, except for the late US Senator Jesse Helms, of North Carolina, nobody has been willing to stand up and call them on it.

Any attempt to rule the world is destined to end in utter and abject failure. The people of this planet are far too diverse -- and just plain ornery -- to agree to live under one government.  Any attempt to force a one-world government on earth will lead to wars all over the planet.  The earth would be in a constant state of world war.  Any FOOL can see that.

And yet they continue to mold a receptive mindset in the less educated, less sophisticated, and the less fortunate peoples of the earth in order to create a creature so banal, ignorant, weak, and vulnerable as to be completely reliant on them for their very existence.  It is akin to the modus operandi of the Democratic Party in the United States.

And now the UN wants us to pay for it, too!

Once again they are seeking a “World Tax” to fund their global socialism.  It is pure socialism/communism.  Of course,  they want to tax the wealthier countries more than the less wealthy countries.  It other words – it is
redistribution of the wealth or, as we have come to know it … socialism.

A 2010 UN blueprint for putting the organization back at the forefront of global governance alarmingly revealed the agenda to re-brand global warming as “overpopulation” as a means of dismantling the middle classes while using “global redistribution of wealth” and increased immigration to reinvigorate the pursuit of a one world government.”  (SOURCE)

The UN has even put fortha plan under which the west would be mandated to respect “the rights of Mother Earth” by paying a “climate debt” which would act as a slush fund for bankrolling an all-powerful world government.” (SOURCE)

Oh, the utopians will love this idea … until they grow up.  By then, of course, it will be too late -- because the world will already be enslaved.

If the US is the subject of an act of God, and conservatives manage to grasp control of the Congress and the Presidency, then Americans should insist that one of the first acts of the new government should be to pull the United States of America out of the United Nations.

As an American, I am embarrassed that my country is a member in such a corrupt organization.  For good measure, Americans ought to insist that the United Nations move its headquarters to a country more accepting of the UN’s corrupt socialist agenda.

The UN is a festering carbuncle on the posterior of the world. Its stench reaches unto heaven.

By the way:  that “world tax” the UN wants to levy would be  … “a minimal financial transaction tax (of .005 percent). This will create $40 billion in revenue.” (SOURCE)

In a recent report by Olivier De Schutter, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, “Mr. De Schutter blames the free market system for threatening the livelihoods of “peasants, fishers, pastoralists, and indigenous peoples.” He emphasizes “the importance of land redistribution for the realization of the right to food.”   (SOURCE)

De Schutter goes on to say:  Rather than focusing on strengthening the rights of landowners, States should encourage communal ownership systems, strengthen customary land tenure systems and reinforce tenancy laws to improve the protection of land-users…” (SOURCE)

What he is advocating, dear reader, is doing away with private ownership of land and replacing it with collective farms, or socialist communes.  YOU will not be able to own land.  The STATE will own all the land.

The United Nations is a socialist organization and the United States of America has no business even associating with it let alone being a dues paying member.

Creation of Palestinian State Means Eradication of Israel as a Jewish State

Creation of Palestinian State Means Eradication of Israel as a Jewish State
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat has said, “… he did not discuss with American officials the possibility of the Palestinians seeking unilateral declaration of statehood at the UN, though he added he would like to see US support should the Palestinians make such a move.” (SOURCE)

Did you know that the people, erroneously called Palestinians, were offered a state of their own back in the 1930’s?

Look, the plain truth is… the people, calling themselves Palestinians, have been offered a state of their own at least three times since the 1936 Arab revolt. They have flatly turned it down every time! The first offer made by the Peel Commission in the 1930s offered them a vast piece of real estate much larger than that offered to the Jews… and … they turned it down!

UN Resolution 181 passed soon after the Second World War gave Israel 55% of the so-called Palestine and the Palestinians 45%. The Jews accepted and in doing so recognized that Palestine would become a state next door to them. They accepted that. But the Arabs rejected it, flat out, and started another war against the Jews, which they promptly lost.

It has been over 60 years now and the whining and moaning is still coming from the “woe is me” crowd who called themselves Palestinians.

The problems between Israel and the Palestinians are not because Israel has settled some disputed land. No! The cause of all the trouble in that “center of the earth” strip of land is due entirely to the Arabs refusal to accept the existence of a Jewish state called Israel, or called anything else, for that matter. That is the crux of the problem.

“Right of Return” is far more dangerous to The State of Israel than an all out attack by their Arab neighbors. You’re going to hear more and more about the Palestinians demand for a Right of Return.

So what is the Right of Return? “The idea of the right of return is to demand that Israel allow the descendants of the 750,000 Palestinians who were displaced in 1948 and their families (which now stands at almost 4 million) back into Israel and give them full compensation for their troubles. Even if only half of these Palestinians returned, it would alter Israel's identity as a Jewish state and effectively create a second Palestinian state.

One assumption made under the right of return is that the all the Arabs that lived in Israel proper were forcibly expelled from their homes in 1947 and 48. This is a myth. While historians know for a fact that a small number of the 750,000 displaced Arabs were forcibly expelled by Zionist militias (a famous example being Deir Yassin), honest and impartial historians also know that a large number of this 750,000 strong population left on their own, either to avoid an upcoming war between the Zionists and the Arabs, or to join the Arabs in the fighting against the newly established state.” (SOURCE)

“What unites Palestinians has been their opposition to Jewish nationalism and the desire to stamp it out, not aspirations for their own state. Local patriotic feelings are generated only when a non-Islamic entity takes charge - such as Israel did in 1967 after the Six-Day War. It dissipates under Arab rule no matter how distant or despotic, as it was under the rule of Jordan prior to 1967.Culturally, Palestinians are not distinct from other Arabs. The sole contributions Palestinians can take credit for are the invention of skyjacking for political purposes in the 1960s, and lately a special brand of suicidal terrorism that uses their own youth as delivery systems for bombing pizza parlors, discos, and public commuter buses.” (SOURCE)

Obama’s efforts toward a “two-state solution” are doomed to failure. The Palestinians will obfuscate, and delay, and continue to carry on their war to wipe Israel from the face of the map. They will use any means to do it. The most recent threat is to have the UN unilaterally proclaim Palestine a state.

As a conservative, I believe in “peace through victory.” To take that a step farther, I believe we ought to unleash Israel and let them do whatever they find necessary to eradicate the Palestinian problem on their borders.

But, as we view the situation today, we can see that the Obama Regime, and the US State Department, have been “snuckered” again!

If the world truly wants peace in the Middle East, especially that portion we erroneously call Palestine, then get out of the way and allow Israel to take care of business.

“Princeton University professor of Semitic literature Philip Hitti (1886-1978) one of the greatest Arabic historians of the ninth century and author of 'The History of the Arabs,' testifying on behalf of the Arab cause, told the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry on Palestine in 1946: "There is no 'Palestine ' in history, absolutely not." (SOURCE)

It is revisionist history. Real, honest to goodness “HISTORY,” reveals, as professor Hitti told us, there never was a country named Palestine in the past. If the US were on the right side of this issue it would insure there would be no state of Palestine in the future, either. The fact that the American President certainly appears to favor so-called Palestinian Muslims over the Israelis is just another reason why many feel he should be a one-term President.

The Unilateral Creation of a Palestinian State by the UN?

The Unilateral Creation of a Palestinian State by the UN?
Does the Obama Regime Support UN Creation of Palestinian State?
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
*********************

Palestinian Authority officials say if Israel and the Palestinians fail to reach an agreement to create a Palestinian state, the Obama administration will support a resolution at the United Nations that would unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state (SOURCE).

In a report at World Net Daily, the following is reported: “Last year, Ahmed Qurei, former PA prime minister and member of the Palestine Liberation Organization executive committee, told WND in an interview that the PA "reached an understanding with important elements within the administration" to possibly bring to the U.N. Security Council a resolution to unilaterally create a Palestinian state. Asked to which "elements" he was referring, Qurei would only say they were from the Obama administration. (SOURCE).

All of this just confirms our worst fears about Obama and his Regime. He is, quite likely, the least prepared President to ever hold office.

You know, I used to wonder if Obama or, at the very least, someone within his regime had actually read the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Now I add to that list of critically important documents nothing less than the Holy Bible. Obama is meddling in a situation that predates the United States of America by thousands of years. Much of the history, which leads up to the problems with Israel and their less than neighborly neighbors, is recorded in the pages of the Bible.

When one does a tiny bit of research, one finds that Israel has a claim to the Holy Land that dates back as far 3,700 years ago. They created a civilization on that terrain and developed a national language, which they have managed to maintain for at least 3,700 years.

Yes, they claim that land and they have a right to it. First, God promised the land to Abraham, then, the Jewish people moved onto to it and began to develop it and they made it their home. The world community saw it -- and recognized Israel as the home of the Jewish people and granted Israel recognition as a sovereign country ON THAT LAND.

So, how did Israel grow to the size it is today? As a result of wars that were perpetrated upon Israel by her mischievous neighbors. Israeli military forces captured the land Israel grew into as they attempted, successfully, to defend their homeland. Now, that land, too, is a part of the nation of Israel.

So what about the name Palestine? In the second century A.D., after crushing the last Jewish revolt, the Romans first applied the name “Palaestina” to Judea. Judea was the southern portion of what we now call the West Bank. It was an attempt, by the Romans, to isolate Jewish identification from the land of Israel.

There was never an independent Arab or Palestinian state in Palestine. It never existed, in all of history. In fact, when the Arab-American historian, Princeton University Prof. Philip Hitti, testified against partition before the Anglo-American Committee in 1946, he said: "There is no such thing as 'Palestine' in history, absolutely not." In fact, Palestine is never explicitly mentioned in the Koran, rather it is called "the holy land.”

Going back to 1937 we learn that “a local Arab leader, Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi, told the Peel Commission, which ultimately suggested the partition of Palestine: "There is no such country [as Palestine]! 'Palestine' is a term the Zionists invented! There is no Palestine in the Bible. Our country was for centuries part of Syria." (SOURCE)

Until, roughly, 1967 the Arabs referred to that piece of ground as “southern Syria. “The representative of the Arab Higher Committee to the United Nations submitted a statement to the General Assembly in May 1947 that said, "Palestine was part of the Province of Syria" and that, "politically, the Arabs of Palestine were not independent in the sense of forming a separate political entity." A few years later, Ahmed Shuqeiri, later the chairman of the PLO, told the Security Council: "It is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing but southern Syria." (SOURCE)

One must consider God’s promise to Abraham, the creation of a Jewish homeland with Jewish settlements upon the land as far back as 3,700 years ago -- up to today. Then, one must consider so much more including the Balfour Declaration of 1917; the League of Nations Mandate, which incorporated the Balfour Declaration; the United Nations partition resolution of 1947; and Israel's admission to the UN in 1949. And, finally, add to all of the above the recognition of Israel as a sovereign nation by most of the country’s of the world. I suspect the Israeli Jews would ask that an observer also note their thriving society.

Now, when you consider all of the above, you must ask yourself why anyone would want the people of Israel to give up their ancestral homeland, the land God gave them, to the people of a country that never, in all of history, EVER existed.

Remember, too, that these people, of a fantasy country, want nothing more than to push the Jews off their land and into the sea -- wiping them out of existence.

THAT is where Obama’s policy toward Israel and the so-called Palestinian people will lead.

When all of this is considered -- aren’t we justified in asking if Obama’s ties to the Muslim world are so strong that he has adopted their cause as his -- and pushing the Jews of Israel into the Mediterranean Sea is the desired result for both the so-called Palestinians – and -- for the Obama Regime?

The United Democratic Nations?

The United "Democratic" Nations?
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
*******************************

The United Nations has become so corrupt and, so anti-American, the United States can no longer remain a member. Any chance to save the UN, as a viable mediator of disputes in the world, has completely disappeared. Their graft, and corruption, has taken away the last leg they were leaning on. It is now a hollow shell of what it was supposed to be, indeed, what it was created to be. It never quite reached the grand plateau of respectability envisioned for it by its creators.

The United Nations is a flop. Worse… it is a caricature of the organization it should be and… could have been. The United nations seems occupied, these days, with one thing, and one thing only, and that is -- the advent of global governance -- a "One World Government." Guess which organization will be the government of that "One World?" You've got it! the UN. The US MUST get out. To preserve itself, and its constitution, Americans have no choice but to demand the United States government pull out of the United Nations. If, in fact, we find a world forum is needed to fill the void left by the decomposing UN, then we should found a new one… one that reflects the hallmark of truly democratic countries.

Enter the United Democratic Nations. (The UDN.)

Let the world see the US, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, Israel, New Zealand, just to name a few of the democratic nations inside the US orbit, conceive and give birth to a world body of nations to carry out the mandate once given to the United Nations and spurned so horribly by them.

It is only a matter of time until an organization, such as the UDN, is established.

Oh, it was not a mistake, by this author, to be so obvious in overlooking France and Germany, and Russia and the other European Socialist Democracies. They have decided to go their own way, refusing to believe there is anyone else on the globe worthy of their respect. France and Germany have the shortest memories in the history of the planet. Or, is it a huge inferiority complex? Whatever their problem, they no longer deserve to be shielded by the truly western democracies and we should make it plain that membership in the UDN will not be extended to them. They are own their own… to fend for themselves.

If history is any is any indication of their destiny, they will soon be at each other’s throats again. For history has taught us that as soon as the US leaves "The Continent" they begin to squabble with each other, pick fights that turn into wars that set the globe ablaze in WORLD WARS. Their vanity and arrogance is exceeded only by their utter lack of common sense.

Yes, we will have a bi-polar world again. East and West. There will soon be a diplomatic slugfest to determine the leader of the Eastern Block and that will soon be Russia, not France, as France supposes. The French entitlement to leadership is in THEIR minds ONLY.

So, bring on the UDN, if we must, and the sooner the better. Let us commit the United Nations to the ash heap of history where it belongs. That dream turned into a nightmare. It is time to wake up, from it, and get on with handling the problems of the real world.

International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People

The UN meeting observing the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is to be held Tuesday at the UN headquarters in New York. Today is the second day of the two-day celebration which includes numerous pro-Palestinian exhibitions.

Haarretz.com reports that Israel is bracing for a concerted diplomatic attack against Israel during this second day of Palestinian day celebrations at the United Nations.

Haarretz.com predicts that the Palestinians and the Arab states will push forth their public campaign directed at the international community concerning the suffering of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation and they will denounce Israel as being responsible for a lack of solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The debate is expected to end with the adoption of some 20 anti-Israel resolutions. In the past, these included denouncing Israel for annexing East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights in separate resolutions.

Many supporters of Israel view this day as the annual “anti-Israel ritual” where the UN will typically pass a number of pro-Palestinian resolutions due to the fact that there is a “built-in Arab and third-world majority in the General Assembly.”

According to China View, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao sent a congratulatory message to a UN meeting which stated that “China staunchly supports the restoration of the legal rights of the Palestinian people as well as the Mideast peace process.”

Jiabo went on to say:

“As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China will continue to support the United Nations in playing an important role in solving the Mideast problem and pushing forward the settlement of the Palestinian issue.”

Here's "The Meat" of Obama's Global Poverty Act, S.2433

Originally posted by Maggie at Maggie's Notebook

I received a comment on my Obama's U.N. Global Poverty Act - Supported by a Wicca Witch post that I want to reply to, and I think the best way to do this is post about her comments. Of the several Obama Tax on the World posts I've done, it is amusing that she picked this one to post her reply.

Right up front, because this is a long article, I want to offer the link that supports the serious reporting on Senate Bill 2433, sponsored by Barack Obama. This link supports the claim that the Bill is complicit in achieving the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) - a tax on fossil fuels, land, currencies, etc. Investor's Business Daily didn't make it up, Lee Cary at American Thinker didn't make it up. The MDG "Agenda" is very long, and I've posted below the most significant points - but you can read it for yourself at Millennium Forum

The commenter's (Ms. Williams) statement is shown in full, with my reply in red text.

Senator Obama's S.2433 cannot be separated from the U.N. Millennium Development Goal and here's why:

Ms. Williams says: "Currently, U.S. global development policies and programs are scattered across 12 departments, 25 different agencies, and almost 60 government offices. Increased coordination is sorely needed to be effective."

Maggie: If this is true, and I have no doubt that is true and may be even worse than 12 departments, 25 different agencies and almost 60 government offices - because, after all, this is "government." We pay the administrators and starve the hungry.

Ms. Williams says: "The Global Poverty Act, S.2433, is an authorizing piece of legislation which sets a directive for those departments under the Secretary of State to create a plan to address the first United Nations Millennium Development Goal."

Maggie: S.2433, within the language of the bill, is "A bill to REQUIRE the President to develop and IMPLEMENT," "the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal.

This bill is NOT an appropriating piece of legislation that would direct any new funds (or global taxes) to United States foreign assistance. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that this legislation would cost less than $1 million to implement.

Maggie: Let's not be naive. There's nothing in Washington D.C. that costs only $1 million dollars, and especially with the United Nation's U.N. Development Program (UNDP) at the helm. I reject the U.N., I deplore the UNDP, which is corrupt at it's core. To make my case, here's some back-up information:

Does the United Nations Accept the Rule of Law?

The UN's Gravy Train to Iran

Ros-Lehtinen Statement on UNICEF Ties to Saudi Extremist-Linked Charity

Report Shows U.N. Development Program Violated U.N. Law, Routinely Passed on Millions to North Korean Regime

The UN Corrupting Itself - A Chavez Connection

The Millennium Development Goal is a tax on the world, and that statement is verified and clarified as you read on.

Ms. Williams, from your very professional email, you must have some background on the U.N. As an American, how do you defend that this Bill REQUIRES
the President to develop and IMPLEMENT the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal?

Ms. Williams says: S.2433 does not prejudge what the strategy should be, only that a strategy should be created.

The Bill says that we will IMPLEMENT the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal? Can it be any clearer, or is it a poorly written Bill?

Ms. Williams says: The Global Poverty Act does not subjugate the United States to the will of the United Nations. The strategy would apply only to those programs administered by the United States and the strategy would have complete Congressional oversight.

Maggie: Congressional "oversight" is not a comforting thought to Conservatives.

HERE'S THE MEAT:
The U.N. Millennium Forum plans to subjugate the the U.S. to the U.N., if it can possibly do so, and I, as opposed to your comment, will validate my claims.

So here's the meat: Everything above is just fluff compared to the following selected, devious and downright evil assertions (click the Millennium Forum link above to read the entire agenda):

The Forum (urges, advocates, calls upon or insists): The United Nations
To introduce binding codes of conduct for transnational companies and effective tax regulation on the international financial markets, investing this money in programmes for poverty eradication.

To explore the feasibility of a legally binding convention on overcoming poverty, to be drafted in effective consultation and partnership with people living in poverty themselves.

To carry out the objective of moving towards the abolition of war by practical means, the United Nations Secretariat and interested Governments, or a separate group of Governments, should develop a draft proposal for global disarmament to be discussed in a fourth special session of the General Assembly on disarmament.

To respect national sovereignty and the prohibition of the use of force, which are fundamental in the Charter of the United Nations. This principle must not be undermined. In the solution of conflicts, all peaceful methods in accordance with Chapter 6 of the Charter must be tried before measures of force are undertaken in accordance with Chapter 7. The General Assembly should set up a broad commission to analyse standards for forceful action in cases where crimes against humanity, war crimes or genocide are committed.

Maggie: We have painful reminders from history. "Peaceful method" mean un-acted upon Resolutions.

To expand the United Nations arms register in order to show the production and sale of small arms and light weapons. It should include specific names of their producers and traders.

Maggie: If the U.N. can, this will include you and me.

Together with nearly all Governments that participated in the recent Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty review conference, Forum participants consider that unilateral deployment of nationwide missile defence by any country could have dangerously destabilizing effects and create pressures to permanently retain high levels of nuclear weapons or even to increase existing levels. The deployment of theatre missile defences in Asia or other regions could have serious regional destabilizing effects. Such plans should be relinquished in favour of a worldwide missile launch warning system and a conference to review methods of ending production of long-range surface-to-surface missiles and long-range bombers.

Maggie: The U.S. met their non-proliferation goals five years early, while the U.N. was enabling Iran to grow its nuclear program.

To initiate a worldwide freeze on armed forces and a 25 per cent cut in production and export of major weapons and small arms, and to that end to adopt an international code of conduct on arms exports, as the beginning of worldwide build-down of conventional forces.

To establish a commission at the United Nations to devise ways of stopping the technological development of new and more advanced weapons that create new imbalances in global power relationships. The Conference on Disarmament should also establish a working group on this subject.

To increase their efforts to promote and to comply with international humanitarian laws, limiting the methods and means of war and protecting non-combatants, civilian populations and humanitarian personnel.

The international community civil society, Governments and the United Nations has a responsibility to stop promptly any genocide, war crimes or any massive violations of human rights. All those involved should seek to avoid any confusion between humanitarian help and military intervention.

Maggie: I do not know that this is a reference to the U.S. in Iraq, but it probably is.

Globalization needs defining....it is transforming our world into a global village...We, of all ages, in particular our future generation the youth claim a space for that transnational civil society that even now is rising on the world scene with unprecedented ties, networking, exchanges and common action among peoples, groups, communities and organizations.

Just for emphasis: a transnational civil society

To develop a legally binding framework for regulating the actions of transnational corporations (TNCs), respecting the international labour, human rights, and sustainable environmental standards set by the United Nations and its relevant specialized agencies. The regulatory mechanism should include the active participation of workers and communities directly affected by TNC operations in order to prevent abuses and to subordinate TNCs to democratic civil authority and community-based modelling of socio-economic systems.

Maggie: Who are the "transnational corporations?" As I look around the web, I find no list of these evil-doers.

To examine and regulate transnational corporations and the increasingly negative influence of their trade on the environment. The attempt by companies to patent life is ethically unacceptable.

Maggie: What does this mean, and who is patenting the life of others?

To move towards democratic political control of the global economy so that it may serve our vision.

Maggie: And how does the U.N. define a democracy?

To develop migration policies, both emigration and immigration, in conformity with human rights standards, particularly to respect the global principle of freedom of circulation for all.

Maggie: This is terrifying, really. The goal is to remove the sovereignty of our borders. The North Korean dictator will surely applaud this.

To make serious commitments to restructure the global financial architecture based on principles of equity, transparency, accountability and democracy, and to balance, with the participation of civil society organizations, the monetary means to favour human endeavour and ecology, such as an alternative time-based currency.

Maggie: Who do these people think they are?

Sustainable funds could be raised through a currency transfer tax,...which could also help to reduce currency speculation, and a tax on the rental value of land and natural resources.

Maggie: Yep, here it is. A tax on currency transfers and land.

Stop imposing economic sanctions, which deprive people of their basic economic, social and environmental rights and which make their struggle for survival, as well as for civil and political rights, more difficult.

Maggie: We can make the case that sanctions are worthless, as it is the U.N. which strengthens them. Iraq and Saddam Hussein comes immediately to mind, especially the Oil-for-Food Program. Then and now, there's Iran. How does the U.N., always wanting diplomatic solutions to prevail, propose that we deal with tyranny ?

To fully incorporate women into leadership at every level and gender perspectives into all its operations; to hold Governments accountable for their obligations to promote and protect the human rights of women and girls; and to act as monitors of the implementation of commitments to end discrimination and violence against women and girls.

Maggie: When it comes to Women's Rights, (or human rights for that matter) most of the worst offenders are Muslim countries. It all is a matter of "degree," isn't it? I notice in the Millennium Development Goal monitoring sites, some Arab countries have shown some degree of improvement. What does that mean? How has it changed the life of women under the control of Islam and their Islamic male dominators? The free world will finance achieving this goal? Think again.

To establish a global habitat conservation fund to purchase comprehensive protection of threatened, critical ecological habitat worldwide. The fund should accrue revenues from a nominal (0.5 -1.0 per cent) royalty on worldwide fossil energy production oil, natural gas, coal, collecting at least $5 billion to $10 billion annually.

Maggie: Uh huh. Here's the tax on fossil fuels.

Ms. Williams offered two informational links in her comment:
For more information on the myths related to this bill, please visit: http://www.bread.org/take-action...-fact- sheet.pdf.

For more information, you can easily read this bill at: http://www.thomas.gov/cgi-bin/qu...emp/ ~c110vneZOT

I have read s.2433 over and over. It is included at the end of this post. It says nothing but means many things. I've had a link up on my webpage for weeks to take readers to the bill, to press and to blog coverage.

Ms. Williams, many of us reject the U.N. and everything it stands for, because everything that it stands for is against the best interest of Americans, and usually is intent on feathering the nests of a U.N. diplomat, somewhere in the world.

You can read the Millennium Development Goals here.

You can "monitor" the goals by country beginning here, although you won't learn much. Most of what we want and need to know falls into the "Insufficient Information" category.

Global Poverty Act of 2007
A bill to require the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.
There are 21 co-sponsors:

The usual RHINO's support this traitorous Bill: Susan Collins, Chuck Hagel, Richard Lugar, and Olympia Snowe. Gordon Smith (R-OR) is also a co-sponsor and I do not have much information on him. He's from Oregon, so...

Ms. Williams, you do not have a homepage, but you did leave your email address. I'll let you know that I have replied and I hope that you'll comment once again.

U.N. Human Rights Council Kicks-Up Its Policy of Abusi

Cross-posted by Maggie at Maggie's Notebook

One of the most important issues of our time is America's membership in the United Nations.

If you take comfort in the existence of the UN's Human Rights Council, or any confidence that world human rights are protected by this Council, then you are deaf, dumb and blind, or you hate freedom.

Lorn Gunter at the Calgary Herald has put together a very important piece about the U.N.'s Human Rights Council. Gunter states the central issue:

The fascinating aspect for me is how many of Freedom House's "worst of the worst list" ["worst" human rights record] have also been elected by the UN to be voting members on its human rights council.
The U.N.'s inhumanity to man, woman and child goes on:
On May 21, 15 of the 47 UNHRC seats will come up for election or re-election. Along with UN Watch, an organization that analyzes UN activities, statements and programs, Freedom House has declared that five of the 15 candidate countries -- Bahrain, Gabon, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zambia -- are entirely unfit for membership because of their rights records. All but one of them (Bahrain) is already a member of the commission. This goes to show how useless the UN is at protecting human rights.

Jumping at Iran’s Latest Offer?

Cross posted from DeMediacratic Nation:

The latest move in possibly allowing Iran further time to continue with its “peaceful” nuclear research has been made. According to the AP via The NY Times:

Iran has invited an International Atomic Energy Agency team to Tehran to work on clearing up suspicions about its nuclear program, an IAEA spokeswoman said Monday.”

A U.S. spokesperson, Tom Casey indicated that it was unlikely Iran would actually comply as they haven’t in the past. Those within the diplomatic community may very well look upon this a good news and under normal circumstances it probably would be.

In the Islamic Republic News Agency news of the invitation was reported thusly:

Iran has invited a team from the agency to Iran to resolve the outstanding issues over the national nuclear program.”

This olive branch will surely add to the minds of those in Iran and elsewhere that yet again Iran offers and as always is willing to talk; but what is the invited team going to be doing in Iran? Using the method of assumption, one would think it likely that they were going to “resolve the outstanding issues” regarding Iran’s nuclear program.

IRNA reports that Ali Larijani spoke with el-Baradei on “an action plan to resolve,” unanswered questions. Yet the AP piece states of the “invitation,” Larijani (italics mine):

“‘Invited the IAEA to send a team to Tehran to develop an action plan for resolving outstanding issues related to Iran's past nuclear program.'”

Where one would think Larijani and el-Baradei are going to be developing “an action plan” one would actually sees that the team invited, is being invited to Iran to “develop an action plan.”

Is this just a case of sloppy reporting and if so on whose part?

All the action is of the diplomatic kind that we have all become accustomed to, which has gotten one side of diplomacy (the West) nothing and Iran nothing but more time.

It has recently been reported that the “Iran strategy was being debated at the White House,” which pitted Secretary Rice and her State Department team against the remaining “hawks,” in VP Cheney’s office. The main point of contention was reported as being the “hawks” “pressing for greater consideration of military strikes.” The Iranian “let’s resolve this once and for all olive branch,” is likely just the nudge State needs to further back diplomatic discussions. Being diplomats though, I’m sure they realize it will actually result in nothing but more time for Iran.

Diplomacy is surely working toward its goal of reaching the cliff’s edge; the edge that leaves the world with a nuclear armed Iran. Diplomacy at its finest and most accomplished.

Iran wants lead IAEA inspector gone

Originally posted at Right Truth

Upset with the sanctions placed upon Iran by the United Nations Security Council, Iran barred 38 IAEA inspectors from entering the country. Now Iran has now also demanded the removal of the IAEA’s lead nuclear inspector, Chris Charlier.

Threats Watch reports, "Last year, Iran had made a similar demand of the IAEA regarding the removal of Charlier as head of the IAEA inspection team. Iran seeks his removal because of his views that Iran “is obviously making a bomb” and is operating clandestinely beyond the view of IAEA inspectors."

In the PBS Frontline report ‘Iran – Going Nuclear,’ Charlier detailed his experiences dealing with, as he puts it, Iran’s “games” surrounding its dealings with IAEA inspectors. The footage and interviews were recorded before Iran demanded his removal last year.

The response from IAEA head Mohamed ElBaradei to Iran’s demand last year was murky at best. While there was speculation that ElBaradei had actually acquiesced and fired Charlier at Iran’s behest, he remains today but is still barred from entry and personal observation by the Iranian regime. [snip]

As the UN Security Council’s 60-day deadline for Iran to cease enrichment activities fast approaches, eyes are on Iran’s actions elsewhere, including the rapidly increasing violence in Lebanon as the result of Hizballah’s ongoing protests, an open coup seeking to bring down the elected Lebanese government.(read more)

In adddition to Egypt, Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah has warned Iran to rein in it's radicals and says Sunni Muslims will not allow a Shia caliphate in the middle east. Read more at The Point Rider Republican.

In the interview in Kuwait’s Al Seyassah on Saturday, King Abdullah also issued a veiled warning to Iran to quit what he said were efforts to spread Shi’ism in the Sunni-dominated Arab world. (Khaleej Times)

But as Caroline Glick says, Ahmadinejad doesn't care what anybody says. He is not motivated by a desire to fit in with the neighbors or to please friends or adversaries.

The source of his frenetic motivation for destruction is his deep-seated and fanatical desire to hearken the arrival of the Shi'ite messiah - the twelfth imam or the Mahdi. Ahmadinejad promises that the arrival of the Mahdi will signal the enduring defeat of liberal democracy and the notion of human freedom and the eradication of Christianity and Judaism. All will be replaced by the "pure" Islam of the Mahdi, of Ahmadinejad and of the late Ayatollah Khomeini. (source)
America-hating, international-loving Senator John Kerry says the United States to become "a sort of international pariah." He made these statements ', speaking during a world economic forum panel discussion that also included Iraqi Vice President Adil Abd al-Mahdi and Mohammad Khatami, Ahmadinejad`s more moderate predecessor as Iranian President.'

Jim Saxton believes the United States finally has a 'comprehensive Iran containment strategy'.

Contrary to the view of many pundits, a policy that engages Iran on every front where it uses terrorism and destabilizes the Middle East is the best way to avoid a military conflict. [snip]

Moreover, this new policy will pave the way for diplomatic success. Demonstrating to Tehran that adventurism will come at a cost will provide our diplomats with the leverage they need to force Iran to negotiate and make concessions. This policy enhances diplomacy—it does not set it aside. (source)

It is my understanding that the sanctions placed on Iran by the United Nations Security Council are having very little, if any, influence on Iran. However, sanctions placed on Iran by the United States are putting a huge crimp in Iran's economy. Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton worked hard to get the sanctions passed in the UN. But since he is no longer employed in that capacity, he is speaking out.

Bolton now 'says the United States may not be able to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons because the Bush administration is following a flawed diplomatic strategy.' He says the UN Security Council resolution is "very weak" and that 'the administration placed too high a priority on achieving unity in the council.'

Maybe the Bush administration is listening to Bolton now.

UNCHECKED IMMIGRATION = NATIONAL BALKANIZATION: IS THIS AMERICA’S FUTURE?

OpenTrackback Weekend

Here’s a News-roundup You Will Not Likely Discover in the Mainstream Media

The Marxist Dominated Far Left Admits Pandering to Illegal Aliens
Here’s a hat-tip to Immigration Watchdog who shared this information. The following excerpt is from the Peoples Weekly World (a Communist publication). (Bold emphasis added by me to get your reading attention.)

Time to unite against Bush administration’s anti-immigrant ‘surge’
. . .In total, 186,600 immigrants were deported in 2006, a 12 percent increase over 2005’s 165,000. This is less than 2 percent of the 12 million undocumented, but it has sent a wave of anxiety through working-class immigrant communities.

The motives are obvious:
• Repression is a “logical” response to the massive marches for immigrant rights.
• A crackdown appeases the most racist right-wing elements like Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) who have been denouncing Bush as being soft on “illegal immigration,” and encourages the ultra-right base.
• Raids serve to pressure business and others into supporting a guest worker program. Threatened with loss of their cheap labor, companies will be eager to get Congress to replace it with guest workers who can be controlled and exploited “legally.” Meanwhile, the terrorization of immigrants by means of repression is part of a long-term trend to prevent them fighting for better wages and thus helps to amass profits through super-exploitation.
So, by means of stepped up repression, Bush thinks to keep the upper hand on the immigration issue, staving off attacks from left and right and controlling the direction of legislation.

This must be contested. We can not allow the 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country, and their millions of citizen and documented spouses and children (potential future voters), to be used as policy hostages by Bush. . . .

The League of United Latin American Citizens, the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund, and the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials have united in calling for a moratorium on immigration raids and deportations. At Christmas, the American Friends Service Committee, along with the Labor Council on Latin American Affairs, the National Council of Latin American and Caribbean Communities and others, circulated a sign-on letter demanding such a moratorium, and dozens of national and local organizations added their names.

At the local and regional level, Centro Sin Fronteras and others in Chicago and the Midwest organized a 30,000-strong demonstration demanding a moratorium last July 19, and there have been a number of such protests in communities where raids have taken place. . .

In which country are Muslims being taught the following lessons?

Hat-tip to Crusade Media for this excerpt:

* "Everyone who does not embrace Islam is an unbeliever and must be called an unbeliever. . . . One who does not call the Jews and the Christians unbelievers is himself an unbeliever." *

"Whoever believes that churches are houses of God . . . or that what Jews and Christians do constitutes the worship of God . . . is an infidel."

* To offer greetings to a Christian at Christmas -- even to wish "Happy holidays" -- is "a practice more loathsome to God . . . than imbibing liquor, or murder, or fornication."

* Jews "are worse than donkeys." They are the corrupting force "behind materialism, bestiality, the destruction of the family, and the dissolution of society.

* Muslims who convert to another religion "should be killed because [they] have denied the Koran."

* Democracy is "responsible for all the horrible wars" of the 20th century, and for spreading "ignorance, moral decadence, and drugs."

If this sounds to you like the kind of fanaticism you might encounter in Saudi Arabia -- where the established creed is Wahhabism, an intolerant and extremist version of Islam -- you're right. Unfortunately, this religious hatred isn't confined to the Arabian peninsula. Thanks to the Saudi government's elaborate campaign to export Wahhabism worldwide, such anti-Christian, anti-Semitic, anti-Western poison can also be found throughout the United States.

We know this from the work of Freedom House, a venerable human rights group that promotes democracy around the globe. In a new report, it documents the alarming degree to which Wahhabist propaganda has penetrated American mosques. . . .

It is important to note that most Muslims do not share the xenophobic Wahhabi dogma. Freedom House undertook its study in part because "many Muslims . . . requested our help in exposing Saudi extremism in the hope of freeing their communities from ideological strangulation." Now that Freedom House has done so, it is up to moderate American Muslims to purge their mosques of the Saudi toxin, and to ostracize the extremists in their midst.

Note: The Center for Religious Freedom was a self-sustaining division of Freedom House. Founded in 1941 by Eleanor Roosevelt and Wendell Willkie to oppose Nazism and Communism in Europe.

Freedom House and the Center for Religious Freedom Announce Separation
The Center for Religious Freedom, which for the past ten years has functioned as a part of Freedom House, will move to the Hudson Institute on December 31, 2006. At a meeting of the Freedom House Board of Trustees in New York City on October 26, a formal resolution was adopted clearing the way for the transfer of assets and liabilities.

AMERICANS VOTE “NO CONFIDENCE” ON U.N.
A majority of Americans (57%) now believe the United Nations should be scrapped and replaced if it cannot be reformed and made more effective. That result is from an extensive national benchmark survey about the UN on the 5th anniversary of 9/11, conducted by Luntz Maslansky Strategic Research.

Year of the Dhimmi

Here’s an excerpt:

. . .The mainstream media have by and large already capitulated to Islamic dhimmitude. Most have banned the use of the word "terrorist."

Some even refuse to mention Islam when reporting terrorism-related arrests. When Canadian authorities broke up a terrorist ring earlier this year, the Toronto Star lamented that fact the suspects were, "from all walks of Canadian life, with no apparent connection to one another." . . .

Note: Dhimmi are the subjugated Christians Jews and other non-Muslims living in Muslim lands.

Hate Crimes

FBI’s 2005 statistics: “When it comes to hate crimes involving religion, Jews are the victims nearly 70 percent of the time.”

Unchecked Immigration = National Balkanization
Is this America’s Future?

(Here's a couple of news items from the UK)

Muslims 'should get special health care'
Muslims should be provided with faithbased services - including male circumcision - on the NHS, says one healthcare expert.
Professor Aziz Sheikh is also calling for women patients to see same-sex medics, better access to prayer facilities in hospitals and more information so Muslims can avoid alcohol and pig-derived drugs. . .

The End of Deterrence
This article originally appeared in the January 11, 2007, Weekly Standard online.
January 11, 2007 by S. Enders Wimbush

If President Bush is persuaded by the Iraq Study Group to speak directly with Iran, he will be under strong pressure to cut a deal that makes Iran a significant partner in salvaging, at least temporarily, the mess in Iraq. For its quid pro quo in aiding America to come up with a face saving exit strategy, Iran will insist on a free hand to develop its "peaceful" nuclear power. One can almost hear the inevitable claims by those seeking to justify the president's giving ground on this issue. A nuclear Iran can be "managed" or deterred, we will hear; moreover, this is a good trade-off for extricating America from Iraq. President Bush should not be taken in. He must reject even the hint of compromise. . . .
