Impeachment: Political Theater or Moral Imperative

 

Constitutional crises are extremely rare. When one arises the entire nation becomes embroiled in the substance of the problem as it moves through its various machinations. Two contentious issues have come to the forefront challenging the very foundations of our society. President Obama has used his pen to circumvent Congress to bring his personal agenda into fruition. With the stroke of his writing instrument Obamacare has been remodeled into a format not reflective of the law passed in March of 2010. Dramatically more perverse the President has altered immigration laws which have caused a flood of illegals to inundate our southern borders. Ramifications of both actions are slowly filtering throughout the very structure of this nation. For the former access to health care is diminished, for the latter a humanitarian crisis of proportions so great it challenges the sensibilities of a rational mind. Each of the three branches of government has their assigned roles empowered by a document that is keen on bringing balance and order to the nation. Unfortunately the present occupant of the Oval Office uses the Constitution as a doormat instead of a roadmap. President Obama has thrown down the gauntlet challenging those in the legislative halls of Washington D.C. to restrict his anti-constitutional behavior through impeachment proceedings. He may be granted his wish.

 

Conservatives have taken a beating over the last six years as progressives sought to undermine every institution, industry and tradition that made this nation strong. The scandal plagued White House has now moved into political territory so devastating it cries out to be checked immediately.  Rumors of a pending Executive Order that may provide amnesty to 5 million illegals has percolated throughout the dark corridors of Congress and beyond. Obama may be playing with political dynamite if he goes forward with this scheme. Discussion of impeachment has moved from a whisper to a hum as Republicans continue to deny the inevitable. On July 30^th the House of Representatives voted to sue the President for his unlawful use of Executive Orders. The vote was along party lines suggesting the Democrats continue to deny the President is overstepping his authority. A lawsuit, as proposed by the House, could take an extended time period to resolve, potentially ending up on the doorstep of the Supreme Court. Is this merely a delaying tactic in preparation for the trial of President Obama?

 

Impeachment of the President and other select officials is allowed under Article II Section 4 of the Constitution. During the period this section was written the Founders wanted a means to remove those who exceeded their authority, as established in this great document. In the alternative in the event a high official was falsely accused this section also provided a means for vindication. President Obama has willfully chosen to circumvent Congress by utilizing the privilege of Executive Order. The manner in which he has used this power is in question.

Nullification of laws and or treading on others has brought this presidency to a crossroad in history requiring hard choices Congress has avoided so far. Democrats believe Articles of Impeachment would be political theater to enhance the strengths of a party they distrust. Perspectives of many in the opposing party see impeachment as a moral imperative, nothing less. At this juncture Congress has not displayed its willingness to go down a path only two prior presidents have traveled. Looking forward the outcome of November’s election may determine the fate of a presidency which started with hope and change but may end in disenchantment and despair.

Oregon's Governor Violates the Oregon Constitution. Should he be removed from office?

"On November 15, Oregon's Governor John Kitzhaber, through his Insurance Commissioner Laura Cali, announced that Oregon health insurance companies would be allowed to extend current policies through 2014,   In doing so, the Governor and Insurance Commissioner violated Oregon law and the Oregon Constitution.  Even if his intentions are good, as chief executive the Governor only has the authority to execute the laws passed by the Legislature, not to supersede them." This I received in a newsletter from the State Representative Dennis Richardson.  

The Governor has in effect assumed the power of decree, a power that is generally associated with Monarchs and Dictators.  This cannot be tolerated, John Kitzhaber and the insurance commissioner must be held to account, they should be removed from office through impeachment. To allow such precedence is a dangerous and illegal act, any politician that continues to support the governor is culpable should too be held to account at the election polls - we are a nation of laws and no one is exempt.  

The same applies to the President on this very same issue. We are a nation of laws. No one is above the law.  Looking back on American history many of our forefathers fought and sacrificed their lives to escape the tyranny of monarchs.

Obama’s Presidency is disintegrating under the weight of numerous scandals that are now plaguing his Administration. As the ringleader of a fanatical group of people, who concocted a sophisticated cover up for the Benghazi massacre, Obama and his minions are now under assault by a Congress that is finally doing its job. New lies and deceitful statements emanate daily from a White House that has no conscience concerning the actions that took place in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. Obama placed the safety of Muslim extremists ahead of four Americans, who could have been saved had he acted appropriately at the time. Our best of the best were told to stand down as bullets and rockets inundated their poorly fortified compound, which became the tomb of the Ambassador and three others. A flood of misrepresentations followed claiming a video was the main reason for the assault, when the World knew otherwise. Recent Congressional hearings have added substance to most of our suspicions that Obama’s position on Benghazi was a fabrication to prevent the truth from becoming known before the 2012 Presidential Election. Information Americans should have had within days of the carnage surfaced when several so-called whistleblowers came forward recently. On fear of reprisal, they provided testimony that was both shocking and tragic which directly contradicted the Administration’s account of the massacre. Inaction by the President on 9/11 and the subsequent cover up should be sufficient to draw an impeachment panel to investigate the potential to bring the President to trial before the Senate. Adding fuel to the proverbial fire, in the last several weeks numerous other scandals have surfaced with equal potential to bring charges against President Obama. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officials targeted conservative groups, religious organizations and other right wing associations in an attempt to suppress their activities. Daily, more groups are coming forward with stories of intimidation from the IRS, which are reminiscent of activities instigated by the Nixon Administration. These activities come with one caveat, this time they are more widespread. The ultimate reason for hammering conservative groups was to assure an Obama win last year. In the event the latter two scandals were not sufficient, staff from the Department of Justice (DOJ) secretly obtained two months of phone records from various reporters and editors at the Associated Press. This is an unheard of intrusion into the privacy of the media, which will generate more Congressional hearings. Obama’s inability to manage day-to-day operations of the government has been apparent since he took office. Media, blinded by their left wing egos, gave the President a pass on each screw up, by him, that came to light. Worse, a population dependent on Obama for their weekly and month checks looked the other way as the nation sunk further into economic oblivion. How much more depravity and dishonesty will the sensible portion of the population absorb before they demand his removal? Rumblings of impeachment have been reported around the not so quiet halls of Congress. Since recall is not option in the law, then only impeachment can resolve the ultimate problem of removing a wayward President. From this perch I believe these scandals will be whitewashed. Let us hope the latter does not come to pass. ABUSE OF POWER

We have said many times that Obama envisages Congress as an inconvenient impediment to his agenda to create a strong socialist central government in the United States of America.  If there was ever a single iota of doubt in the minds of Americans that Obama is seeking to assume all US government power unto himself, then his recent actions in naming a head for the controversial Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and three new members to the National Labor Relations Board and totally by-passing Congress to make those appointments – while the Senate was still in session – should remove all doubt.

What we have here, dear reader, is a full-out raw power grab by the Executive Branch of the US government.  This move by Obama is an abuse of power. It is arguably unconstitutional -- and should be grounds for impeachment.

If the US Congress does not take immediate steps to stop the power hungry mob in the White House then the US will, very soon, find itself the newest tin-pot dictatorship with a petty tyrant in total control of the government.

(A reminder:  Only days ago the media was asking why Americans were buying so many guns. You have just seen the answer to that question.)

Look:  We have a would-be emperor on our hands right here in America, the world’s last hope for democracy.

Obama’s disrespect for the US Constitution is breathtaking.  Not only does he disrespect it – he defies it!

As we continue to see Obama’s tentacles spread through the government with his new agencies, Czars, and a myriad of additional rules and regulations handed down by his henchmen – is it too far a stretch to predict that by next fall the Obama Administration will declare a national emergency and suspend the election set for next November?  No, I am not kidding -- and I fear it is NOT an exaggeration.

Americans are in serious trouble and I don’t mean with out national economy.  We are in critical danger of losing our freedom and liberty as a country.  I would not be surprised, any day, to see the news channels suddenly break in with a bulletin that Obama has dissolved the Congress and placed the country under martial law until a date uncertain, far in the future, when our economy has been, er, stabilized.  

Farfetched?  Really?  I mean – REALLY?  We have a branch of our government out of control, people.

This in-your-face move by Obama demands action by Congress to stop his abuse of power in its tracks.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, said:  “Although the Senate is not in recess, President Obama, in an unprecedented move, has arrogantly circumvented the American people,” (SOURCE)

 Senator McConnell is absolutely right.

John A. Boehner, Republican of Ohio and Speaker of the US House of Representatives, said Obama’s action was: “an extraordinary and entirely unprecedented power grab by President Obama that defies centuries of practice and the legal advice of his own Justice Department”


“The precedent that would be set by this cavalier action would have a devastating effect on the checks and balances that are enshrined in our Constitution,” (SOURCE)

The fact is – Obama has spat upon those constitutional checks and balances referenced by Speaker Boehner.  The longer Obama stays in office the more America resembles a banana republic, with a tin pot dictator holding the reins of power.  Move over Hugo Chavez!


Of course Obama’s defiance of Congress is an integral part of his political campaign for reelection.  But this time he has gone to cussed far. There can be no question now that Obama is a threat to the freedom of the American people.  His seeming thirst for power begs the question:  Is Obama the American Putin??


Here we have a man in the Presidency who is, I believe, constitutionally unqualified to be President by reason of the circumstances surrounding his birth.  His father was a citizen of Kenya and not an American citizen. The Constitution declares a candidate for US President must be a natural born citizen of the United States, which means -- BOTH mother and father must be American citizens.
 
We Americans know less about Obama than any other President in US history.  Is his name Barack Hussein Obama or Barry Soetoro?  Was he born in America – or Kenya?  Whose Social Security number does he really have? A number of other people have, or have had, the same number. The record of his education is blurry at best.  He is reported to have been a college instructor on the US Constitution, yet he seems to totally ignore it when it gets in the way of his insatiable thirst for power over the American people.

Let’s face it.  Obama is a truly scary figure in American politics today.  I am convinced he has a dark agenda for America and that agenda is a threat to the freedom of the people of America.
