CIA Nominee John Brennan Does Not Understand Jihad

"Brennan endorsed the administration’s determination to delete words like “jihadist” and “war on terror” from its lexicon. 'They are not jihadists, for jihad is a holy struggle, an effort to purify for a legitimate purpose, and there is nothing–absolutely nothing–holy or pure or legitimate or Islamic about murdering innocent men, women and children...'"  (source)
I cannot believe this guy has a chance in hell of leading our nation's top spy agency when his failure to understand the true nature of the threat posed by Islam will put us at greater risk.  He does not understand that violent jihad is in fact "legitimate" in the eyes of the Islamic religion, so the violence he is talking about against "innocent" men, women and children is in fact holy, pure, and legitimate in the ideology of Islam.  It sounds like he is reading from talking points provided by CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations), a Muslim Brotherhood front group.

Other concerning information about Brennan (taken from the article that follows):
  • He referred to Jerusalem as "Al Quds."
  • He believes the 20% recidivism rate from those released from Guantanamo Bay "isn't that bad"
  • He said that that “violent extremists” are victims of “political, economic and social forces.”
  • ”The FBI gave a guided tour of one of our most sensitive counter-terrorism facilities to a known Hamas operative,” [Frank] Gaffney said. “It is clear that the cluelessness fostered by Mr. Brennan is causing an empowering of the wrong sorts of Muslims in America and endangering the American people.”
  • Judicial Watch...obtained documents...revealing that Brennan and Defense Department officials disclosed to Hollywood filmmakers the identity of the SEAL Team Six operator and commander involved in taking out Osama Bin Laden.

Jihad Denialist Nominated to Head CIA

Tue, January 8, 2013

by:
 Arnold Ahlert
U.S. President Barak Obama announces his nomination of John Brennan to head the CIA. (Photo:Reuters)President Obama’s determination to keep his Middle East outreach agenda alive, no matter how at odds with reality, continues. Yesterday, John Brennan, Deputy National Security Adviser for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, was nominated to head the CIA, replacing scandal-scarred David Petraeus. “John knows what our national security demands,” Obama announced:
“John has an invaluable perspective on the forces, the history, the culture, the politics, economics, the desire for human dignity driving so much of the changes in today’s world…He knows the risks that our intelligence professionals face every day.”
At best, the 25-year CIA veteran’s record is a mixed bag. At worst, he becomes another link in the administration’s efforts to normalize relations with Islamic terrorists.
[...]
In 2009, Brennan came under fire again, as the result of the colossal intelligence failure that allowed terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to board Northwest Airlines Flight 253 on Christmas Day 2009, during which he attempted to detonate an underwear bomb.
[...]
After calls for his resignation, Brennan responded to the criticism in a USA Todayeditorial. “Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda,” he wrote. ”Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill.”
One suspects those on board Flight 253 might disagree. Yet Brennan doubled down, and insisted on treating Abdulmutallab as a criminal, rather than an enemy combatant, contending that it is “naive to think that transferring Abdulmutallab to military custody would have caused an outpouring of information. There is little difference between military and civilian custody, other than an interrogator with a uniform. The suspect gets access to a lawyer, and interrogation rules are nearly identical,” Brennan contended.
Brennan further cemented his soft-on-terror credentials only days later in a February 13, 2010 speech at New York University law school’s Islamic Center. In front of  a largely Muslim audience, he called for trying 9/11 terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a civilian court.
During the same speech, Brennan endorsed the administration’s determination to delete words like “jihadist” and “war on terror” from its lexicon. “They are not jihadists, for jihad is a holy struggle, an effort to purify for a legitimate purpose, and there is nothing–absolutely nothing–holy or pure or legitimate or Islamic about murdering innocent men, women and children,” Brennan insisted. “We are not waging a war against terrorism because terrorism is but a tactic that will never be defeated, any more than a tactics of war will.”
In another telling moment, Brennan’s first referred to Jerusalem as al-Quds, which is its Arabic name. ”In all my travels the city I have come to love most is al-Quds, Jerusalem, where three great faiths come together,” he said.
During the question and answer period, Brennan contended that a 20 percent recidivism rate for terrorists released from Guantanamo Bay prison “isn’t that bad” when compared to the American penal system. ”People sometimes use that figure, 20 percent, say ‘Oh my goodness, one out of five detainees returned to some type of extremist activity,’” Brennan said. “You know, the American penal system, the recidivism rate is up to something about 50 percent or so, as far as return to crime. Twenty percent isn’t that bad.”
That Brennan could compare one-in-five hardcore terrorists returning to the task of waging war against the West with regular criminals of all kinds, demonstrates either a monumental level of naiveté, or a disingenuousness bordering on delusion.
In another speech given in May 2010 at the Nixon Center, Brennan upped the ante yet again, asserting that that “violent extremists” are victims of “political, economic and social forces.” Reuters reveals additional comments Brennan made, following his return from Lebanon:
“Hezbollah is a very interesting organization,” Brennan told a Washington conference, citing its evolution from “purely a terrorist organization” to a militia to an organization that now has members within the parliament and the cabinet. ”There is certainly the elements of Hezbollah that are truly a concern to us what they’re doing. And what we need to do is to find ways to diminish their influence within the organization and to try to build up the more moderate elements,” Brennan said.”
Again, one might be forgiven for wondering what constitutes a “moderate” in an organization that has carried out a series of worldwide terror attacks over the course of decades, yearns for Israel’s annihilation and, prior to 9/11, was responsible for killing more Americans than any other terrorist organization in the world.
Unfortunately, Brennan’s infatuation with outreach is not limited to Hezbollah. In 2010, columnist Patrick Poole revealed that Hamas operative Kifah Mustapha was given a guided tour of the “National Counterterrorism Center and other secure government facilities, including the FBI’s training center at Quantico.”
Mustapha was an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land foundation case, during which his colleagues were convicted of funding Hamas, yet another U.S.-designated terrorist organization. Center for Security Policy chief Frank Gaffney, a former Reagan administration official, demanded Brennan’s resignation as a result. ”The FBI gave a guided tour of one of our most sensitive counter-terrorism facilities to a known Hamas operative,” Gaffney said. “It is clear that the cluelessness fostered by Mr. Brennan is causing an empowering of the wrong sorts of Muslims in America and endangering the American people.”
Brennan penchant for revealing America’s secrets continued in 2012. When the United States thwarted another would-be underwear bomber last May, Brennan inadvertently revealed we had a double-agent working on the case when he briefed former counter-terrorism advisors who subsequently got work as TV commentators.
He told them that the bomber was never a threat because America had “inside control” of the situation. The former advisors reached the inexorable conclusion shortly thereafter.
May was also the month Judicial Watch finally obtained documents, via a Freedom of Information Act, from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA,) revealing that Brennan and Defense Department officials disclosed to Hollywood filmmakers the identity of the SEAL Team Six operator and commander involved in taking out Osama Bin Laden. A transcript of a meeting held July 14, 2011, reveals that ”documents seemingly reference John O. Brennan, Chief Counterterrorism Advisor to President Obama and Denis McDonough, who serves as President Obama’s Deputy National Security Advisor.”
“These documents, which took nine months and a federal lawsuit to disgorge from the Obama administration, show that politically-connected film makers were giving extraordinary and secret access to bin Laden raid information, including the identity of a Seal Team Six leader,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It is both ironic and hypocritical that the Obama administration stonewalled Judicial Watch’s pursuit of the bin Laden death photos, citing national security concerns, yet seemed willing to share intimate details regarding the raid to help Hollywood filmmakers release a movie ‘perfectly timed to give a home-stretch boost’ to the Obama campaign.”
All of the above suggests that John Brennan is, at the least, an extremely dubious pick to head the CIA. But a story by Associated Press columnist Kimberly Dozier entitled, “Who Will US Drones Target? Who Will Decide?” paints an even more disturbing picture of Brennan, who she contends has “seized the lead in guiding the debate on which terror leaders will be targeted for drone attacks or raids, establishing a new procedure to vet both military and CIA targets. The move concentrates power over the use of lethal U.S. force outside war zones at the White House,” she writes. She further noted that while some intelligence officials are comfortable with the new process, others expressed concern about ”how easy it has become to kill someone.”
PJ Media’s Patrick Poole puts it more directly: “John Brennan is the man under whom President Obama has consolidated the unprecedented power of assassination. He directly controls and oversees all aspects of the program that had been previously divided between the Pentagon, the CIA, and other officials,” he writes.
"War on Terrorism Is Over"

The Washington Times Edit Board (Video 1 and Video 2)--in the second video Brennan refuses to answer questions about the true nature of jihad.

Congress Calls for Investigation of Muslim Brotherhood in Obama Administration

"God is our objective; the Quran is our constitution, the Prophet is our leader; Jihad is our way; and death for the sake of God is the highest of our aspirations."
--Motto of the Muslim Brotherhood

During a 2011 talk in Canada, Tarek Fatah identified three members of the Obama Administration who were also members of the Muslim Brotherhood (source article):
  1. Rashad Hassan (or Hussain), US Ambassador to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)
  2. Dalia Mogahed, Obama speechwriter and appointee on Muslim affairs
  3. Azizah al-Hibri, US Commission on International Religious Freedom
Here are other Islamists with access to the Administration as identified in the Blaze article Want to Know Just How Close the Muslim Brotherhood is to the Obama Admin?:
  1. Arif Alikhan, Former Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Policy Development
  2. Salam al-Maryati, Founder and Executive Director of Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC)
  3. Mohamed Elibiary, Homeland Security Advisory Committee Member
  4. Imam Mohamed Magid, Homeland Security Countering Violent Extremism Working Group Member
  5. Eboo Patel, Obama Administration Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships
  6. Huma Abedin, Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
The Ikhwan's (Muslim Brotherhood) role in North America:
“The Ikhwan (Brotherhood) must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.” (from “An Explanatory Memorandum On The General Strategic Goal for North America,”
22 May 1991)
Now members of Congress are calling for an investigation.

Congressional Leaders Call for Investigations of Muslim Brotherhood Penetration of the Obama Administration
Center for Security Policy | Jun 15, 2012

Washington, DC, June 14, 2012: Five influential Members of Congress called yesterday for the inspectors general (IGs) of government departments with national security responsibilities to investigate whether their agencies are being subjected to influence operations mounted as part of what the Muslim Brotherhood calls its “civilization jihad.”  This initiative holds out hope that a grave, and largely unremarked, threat may thus be recognized and thwarted in time.

The authors of letters sent to the IGs for the Departments of State, Justice, Defenseand Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence are:

  • Rep. Michele Bachman, a member of the House Intelligence Committee and Chairwoman of the House Tea Party Caucus
  • Rep. Trent Franks, Chairman of the House Judiciary’s Subcommittee on the Constitution a member of the House Armed Services Committee
  • Rep. Louie Gohmert, Vice Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security
  • Rep. Tom Rooney, Deputy Majority Whip and member of the House Armed Services Committee
  • Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee’s Oversight Subcommittee; and

In a joint press statement, each of these congressional leaders expressed profound concern about the dangers posed by the Muslim Brotherhood and the need to understand that threat here in the United States.  What is more, they cited in their letters evidence of the penetration of Brotherhood operatives and allies inside the Obama administration, and examples of policies that appear to have been influenced as a result.

The legislators explicitly draw upon documentation of that evidence contained in Parts 8 and 9 the Center for Security Policy’s new, ten-part online video curriculum: The Muslim Brotherhood in America: The Enemy Within (www.MuslimBrotherhoodinAmerica.com).

Center President Frank J. Gaffney, Jr. said:
“These five key legislators are to be commended for their exemplary leadership on a matter of utmost peril to this country – namely, the stealthy effort being made by avowed enemies of this country, the Muslim Brotherhood, to destroy us ‘from within.’  Their request for the five inspectors general to conduct investigations of the Brotherhood’s progress toward that end – and report back within ninety days – will hopefully be seconded by others in both parties and be swiftly addressed by the IGs, given their responsibility for conducting such independent inquiries within executive branch agencies.  The Center for Security Policy’s extensive research, and the online course that presents it, shows those inquiries are fully warranted and urgently needed – as are, for that matter, corresponding investigations by the Congress, as well.”

AMERICAN LEGION: An Open Letter to Homeland Security on ‘Rightwing Extremists’

By Findalis

Created in 1919, The American Legion has been on the forefront in the battle of rights for US Veterans and their families. The Legion has been responsible for passage of such notable bills such as: The GI Bill, which sent thousands of veterans returning home from World War II, Korea, and Viet Nam to college, helped millions of veterans buy affordable homes, start businesses, etc...

Needless to say, the American Legion is not, nor has it ever been, a terrorist organization. Until now and the Obama administration's insistence that all groups on the right of their ideology are terror groups.

Dave Rehbein, the National Commander of the Legion disagrees:
Secretary Janet Napolitano
Department of Homeland Security
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
Washington, DC 20528

April 13, 2009

Dear Secretary Napolitano,

On behalf of the 2.6 million-member American Legion, I am stating my concern about your April 7 report, "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence and Recruitment."

First, I want to assure you that The American Legion has long shared your concern about white supremacist and anti-government groups. In 1923, when the Ku Klux Klan still yielded unspeakable influence in this country, The American Legion passed Resolution 407. It resolved, in part, "...we consider any individual, group of individuals or organizations, which creates, or fosters racial, religious or class strife among our people, or which takes into their own hands the enforcement of law, determination of guilt, or infliction of punishment, to be un-American, a menace to our liberties, and destructive to our fundamental law..."

The best that I can say about your recent report is that it is incomplete. The report states, without any statistical evidence, "The possible passage of new restrictions on firearms and the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks."

The American Legion is well aware and horrified at the pain inflicted during the Oklahoma City bombing, but Timothy McVeigh was only one of more than 42 million veterans who have worn this nation's uniform during wartime. To continue to use McVeigh as an example of the stereotypical "disgruntled military veteran" is as unfair as using Osama bin Laden as the sole example of Islam.

Your report states that "Rightwing extremists were concerned during the 1990s with the perception that illegal immigrants were taking away American jobs through their willingness to work at significantly lower wages." Secretary Napolitano, this is more than a perception to those who have lost their job. Would you categorize union members as "Right Wing extremists"?

In spite of this incomplete, and, I fear, politically-biased report, The American Legion and the Department of Homeland Security share many common and crucial interests, such as the Citizen Corps and disaster preparedness. Since you are a graduate of New Mexico Girls State, I trust that you are very familiar with The American Legion. I would be happy to meet with you at a time of mutual convenience to discuss issues such as border security and the war on terrorism. I think it is important for all of us to remember that Americans are not the enemy. The terrorists are.

Sincerely,

David K. Rehbein
National Commander
The American Legion

Dave Rehbein

It is too bad that these words will be falling on deaf ears. To the Obama Administration, any one who doesn't fall in lock step behind him, must be eliminated, ridiculed and destroyed.

Well said Commander Rehbein, well said!

Terrorism Preparedness Costs

Originally posted at Right Truth

Terrorism preparedness isn't cheep. It takes loads of money, lots of people, and practice. Securing our country isn't just the job of Homeland Security. Every agency, business, community and individual in the United States must do their part. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) gives states about $1 billion a year to prepare for a bioterrorism attack or other health disaster by improving their laboratories, hiring staff and buying critical equipment. The problem is states are not using the money.

... according to a report by the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. More than $157 million —- nearly 16 percent of the amount awarded —- wasn't used during the program year ending Aug. 30, 2005, ... The health department upgrades funded by the CDC program are considered crucial to the nation's security, ... CDC has awarded about $4 billion to health departments, most of it since 2002 ...

If we are not using the money, American citizens need to know how much their state has been allocated, why some of those funds are not being used, and how they can best use funds available to them. 'To read the inspector general's report, which includes details on each health department's unspent balances, for 2004 and 2005, go to: oig.hhs.gov/oas/reports/region5/50500031.pdf'

John D. Negroponte, says the "complex and demanding" process of restructuring the U.S. intelligence community is still "a work in progress" after 22 months of effort. State and local efforts in terrorism preparedness are also a 'work in progress', but some communities are doing a much better job than others. What about your community? Do you have any idea what your state, county, or city are doing? Maybe you need to find out.

The CDC has granted a $135 Million dollar contract to Lockheed Martin to support terrorism preparedness and emergency response, as part of CDC's Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response (COTPER). That's not chicken feed. What do Americans get for that paycheck?

COTPER manages the CDC Public Health Emergency Preparedness Cooperative Agreement which provides guidance and funding to state and local jurisdictions to enhance their preparedness and response capacity, oversees the CDC Emergency Operations Center, regulates entities that use or transfer biological agents or toxins, and manages the Strategic National Stockpile.

Lockheed Martin support to COTPER will include business consulting and the performance of technical, professional, logistical, engineering and administrative tasks. By applying continuous process improvement, the company will work to implement automated functions and processes where possible throughout the agency. (source)

It appears that any lack of preparedness cannot be blamed on lack of money. So if your state or community is not prepared, the problem could be lack of experience. Yes, many times we learn from doing. Conducting statewide terrorism preparedness exercises is an absolute necessity.

South Dakota recently conducted just such an exercise:

During this exercise they tested in real-time the complex communications necessary in a disaster and learned that a streamlined analysis process is critical when receiving information. They also learned that successful preparedness means having an adequately staffed, equipped and dedicated Emergency Operations Center at the hospital, local, regional and state level. ...

More than 300 individuals from 64 of South Dakota's 67 hospitals participated in the exercise in which fictitious concert-goers exposed to plague began jamming hospital emergency rooms approximately 48 hours after exposure.

"The beauty of this exercise was that it comprehensively tested every possible situation that would arise in this type of emergency," (source)

South Dakota worked with Global Secure Corp., who are experts in medical and public health exercises, and 'have the experience in conducting exercises involving hospitals and public health entities.'

The cost of terrorism preparedness is huge, but money isn't enough. Individuals need to be prepared, communities need to be prepared. What would your state, county, city, local community do in case of an attack, whether it be nuclear, chemical, biological, or other? What would YOU do? Do you have a plan for yourself and your family? Don't wait until it's too late.
