Larry Hogan: A new Governor with a new vision

Larry Hogan: A new Governor with a new vision

Larry Hogan is Maryland’s new Governor. His aspirations were achieved with the perspirations of many who worked endless hours to achieve this goal. Governor Hogan’s win was no surprise to this intrepid reporter who predicted his win in an article published the day prior to the election (Larry Hogan: New Leadership for Annapolis). With perseverance and a clear vision Governor elect Hogan was able to translate his message of lower taxes, less regulation and simplified government to an electorate starved for leadership. Eloquent in his victory speech Governor elect Hogan noted there is much work ahead to bring his vision to fruition. Maryland’s business community has been oppressed by a vicious campaign from its Legislature and current Governor to extort as much funds as it could from them. As a consummate businessman the new Governor understands the inequities that need to be flushed away to attract investments from corporate America. He is alert to the fact that every administrative entity under the auspices of his new office has been politicized. Political appointees reign within these boards which have pushed out the expertise they once had and sorely need. Maryland’s Legislature will not make it easy for him to pass legislation that rights many of the wrongs in this State. Under former Governor Erhlich gridlock more than compromise blocked many of the reforms he brought before them. Democrats will argue to keep the current status quo in place which redistributes billions to the indolent and lazy in the state. Record levels of state workers do little more than move paperwork across their desks and harass Maryland residents. Time has come to reevaluate this State’s bloated work force to bring efficiencies and sensibilities to this superfluous population. Larry Hogan is up to the task as reflected in his ability to overcome great odds to ascend to Maryland’s highest office. We all wish him well and hope to contribute to his efforts in any way we can.

Larry Hogan: New Leadership for Annapolis

Larry Hogan: New Leadership for Annapolis

Larry Hogan is the Republican nominee for Maryland Governor. In the primary election he overcame his rival with 43% of the vote. Yet he knew the road to the State House would not come easy. Maryland’s voter base is nearly 2 to 1 in the Democrat corner. This profoundly blue state has elevated very few Republicans to the Governorship with Robert Ehrlich being the last. Determined to make a change Hogan burned up the roads to get his word out to anyone who would listen. His message of pro-business, reduced taxes and a simplification of Maryland laws has resonated in this politically divided state. In 1985 Hogan established a real estate business which has managed over two billion dollars in transactions since then. From this base Larry Hogan has accrued significant experience within the business community and his message poses a great challenge to his opponent, Anthony Brown. Lieutenant Governor Brown is part of a team of Democrats which has placed onerous tax increases on the backs of those who pay them. Governor Martin O’Malley, who Hogan is looking to replace, has funded a huge entitlement structure to retain power in Annapolis. Taxes have been increased dozens of times during his tenure. The rain tax is his newest  burden to businesses and the residential community. O’Malley is a classical Democrat and Hogan’s opponent Brown will walk in the footsteps of the present Governor. Larry Hogan’s platform looks to change the culture in Annapolis by taking the government off the peoples’ backs. Present tax and spend policies would evaporate under a Hogan Governorship to be replaced with a pro-citizen agenda. With his vast business experience laws will move forward to attract new companies to Maryland terrain stopping the hemorrhage of businesses fleeing to greener pastures. Anthony Brown has already gone on record that he will continue the present Governor’s policies which are to fund Maryland’s bloated state government and entitlement structure. Hogan looks trim the Maryland Budget and give relief to those who deserve it most, the taxpayer. Time is ripe for a major change in Annapolis. Larry Hogan is that change. Vote right on Election Day because those in charge have voted wrong for the last 8 years.

Maryland's Primary: The Aftermath

Maryland’s Primary: the aftermath

Maryland’s lackluster primary season ended on a minor note. With a poverty of turnout expectations were higher than the 22% who showed up to vote. Two candidates for Governor were left standing from the major parties. Anthony Brown overwhelmed his chief rival Douglas Gansler receiving more than twice the vote. On the Republican ticket Larry Hogan trounced David Craig with a 14% margin of victory. Maryland’s Democratic machinery will be in full force in the next four months finding every means to denigrate the opposing party. From dumpster diving to character assassination nothing will stop the forward movement of this machine towards its ultimate goal. Anthony Brown has achieved much outside the realm of politics. Yet his political resume is a desert of achievement. Larry Hogan is an issues oriented person. He is aware of the negativity that Democrats bring to bear to win an election, as exemplified during their primary campaigns. Marylanders have a clear choice this November. In the Republican camp the push will be for; less taxes, reduction in draconian regulations, a pullback in entitlements, an administration of government that is business friendly and fiscal responsibility. Democrats want more of the same presently offered by Martin O’Malley. Under his tutelage; entitlements expanded exponentially, traditional family values were trashed, the multi-dimensional family came into being, dozens of new taxes and levies were signed into law, the word illegal was banished from the Maryland dictionary and fiscal irresponsibility became the norm.  Voter registration leans predominately towards the Democrats. Hogan knows the path to the State House will be hard for him but not impossible. Many Marylanders are exhausted from the constant pressures government forces have brought to bear on their personal and professional lives. Larry Hogan needs to emphasize the collective fallacies intrinsic to the Democrat platform. This strategy could be the driving force he needs to ascend to the Governorship. Democracy is failing around the country. When this tragedy hits home one must take charge of the reality that confronts him or her. Choose wisely this election cycle otherwise the chance to reestablish Democratic principles may not present itself for a long time. http://columbia.patch.com/groups/elections/p/election-results-maryland-primary-narrows-field-for-governor

Maryland's Primary: Why bother

Maryland’s Primary: Why bother

Maryland is a profoundly blue state. Its election cycle for governor is a mere formality.  After eight years of Martin O’Malley’s oppressive left-wing agenda Marylanders deserve a respite from heavy taxes, over regulation and budgetary mismanagement. Yet those seeking the governorship from the Democrat slate not only want to keep O’Malley’s programs in place they want to intensify them. Taxpayers, under the Democrat’s platform, are secondary to the entitlement class that keeps them in power. Leading the pact of Democrats during this primary cycle is Anthony Brown, the present Lieutenant Governor. He has a 2 to 1 lead in the latest polls over his closest rival, Douglas Gansler. As Attorney General Gansler has amassed a significant level of baggage that is pulling him down in the polls. A comparison of his bio to his actual performance in office offers quite a disparity in content. Unions and the political fossils still in power have ordained Brown as their choice to take O’Malley’s place. Four other candidates running against Brown should not have wasted their efforts or money. Disturbing as the fact is they never had a chance. http://www.sanluisobispo.com/2014/06/23/3123694/md-primary-could-play-a-role-in.html?sp=/99/177/507/

Five candidates are vying for the Governor’s seat in the Republican Primary.  Harford County’s Executive David Craig and Larry Hogan, a business owner, are the best known in this group. Craig’s tax proposals deserve a closer inspection. Does he really believe in lower taxes and lean budget management? From his tenure in office many questions arise concerning his fiscal priorities. Larry Hogan has moved up quickly in recognition around the state. His business experience allows him to understand the stresses present Maryland government has inflicted on those in the private sector. Three others in the Republican field are relatively unknown. They have a minute chance to succeed at this late date.

With all the attention being paid to Anthony Brown both sides of the aisle are struggling to have their words heard. Moribund as this primary season has been most of the candidates, in either party, have yet to energize those who would place them in office. Since O’Malley has taxed Maryland into a coma no one coming after him can do much worse, or could they? To move away from Maryland’s tax and spend mentality now is the time to consider your vote very carefully. Democrats are crying for more entitlements, higher taxes and tighter control of those who they reign over. Republicans antithetically want the opposite in every sense imaginable. Whichever side you lean towards please vote. It is your right before someone votes it out of existence.

Read the Tea Leaves: Anthony Brown will be Maryland's next Governor

Read the tea leaves: Anthony Brown will be Maryland’s next Governor

Anthony Brown is the candidate to beat in both the Democrat primary and the general election. Presently he is the Lieutenant Governor of Maryland. Those running against him in his own party have failed to tarnish his reputation, though they have tried. Of the five other candidates opposing him in the primary, Douglas Gansler and Heather Mizeur have been the two most vocal against him. This journalist’s views on Gansler are clearly noted in an article written earlier this month and attached as a link below. Gansler’s own actions and verbalizations have denied him the ability to out distance his major competitor in this race. Helen MIzeur has yet to make a dent in Brown’s armor. She has many concrete proposals which the future governor should consider. Brown is being held in contempt by both sides of the aisle for mismanaging the implementation of the health exchanges. This absurdity has played itself out without affecting Brown’s ability to garner major support throughout Maryland. Union after union have lined up to back the Lieutenant Governor in his quest for higher office. Maryland’s most prominent politicians have also cast their support his way. Anthony Brown’s  strong intellectual reservoir and expansive leadership abilities are a hard combination for his opponents to surpass. With thirty years in the military reserves and a tour of duty in Iraq his dedication to this country’s safety and security is without question. Gansler’s harsh rhetoric on the campaign trail, directed at Brown, was nothing more than a series of personal attacks. As the present Attorney General of Maryland his indignant behavior did not go unnoticed. His weak support amongst the Maryland electorate may be reflective of his missteps during the campaign. One must see the reality of structured politics in Maryland.  As a deeply blue state Republicans have a very tortuous road to follow when attempting to attain higher office. The array of conservative candidates pursuing the governorship is quite impressive. Yet none of them have displayed an ability to garner support on the level Anthony Brown has accrued. With little reservation I can predict he will be Maryland’s next governor. http://www.examiner.com/article/four-thousand-reasons-not-to-vote-for-douglas-gansler

Maryland's Exchange: too much for too little

Maryland’s Exchange: too much for too little

Maryland’s draconian state government suffered one more defeat announcing dissolution of its insurance exchange. Reportedly spending more than 125 million to bring Obamacare one-step closer to reality, failure was the final outcome for an exchange that never was. Many media outlets have reported on Maryland’s grotesque failure, yet the Baltimore Sun has not taken up the pen and written the final epitaph. Why the Sun is not reporting this story may be in the fact they wholeheartedly supported this government boondoggle. By withholding this story the inference is the left cannot accept defeat. Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown led the charge to flesh out this component of President Obama’s grand Ponzi scheme. Uninitiated in the complexities of building such site was no bar to appoint Brown as its head cheerleader. In the last few days the blame game has been afoot, with the Democrats hiding behind their usual spin.

Governor Martin O’Malley blindly went ahead with a project that was doomed from the start. Built on algorithms whose equations required a younger crowd to sign up for insurance, the mix of applicants has been the antithesis of expectations. Over 49,000 had applied through last week, yet the state has not revealed how many were paying customers. Since its incipience on October 1st 2013 a series of glitches continued to plague the system. Even with the purported fixes the Exchange could not sustain the heavy usage necessary to make it successful. Already released from their contract the management company responsible for this catastrophe may face investigation from the feds. Does O’Malley have the wherewithal to sue for return of State Funds is only a conjecture at this date?

President Obama has changed the Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act 38 times by most accounts. Deadlines have been extended, levies have been delayed and mandates put off into the distant future. As Obamacare unravels, very blue states, such as Maryland, refuse to see the obvious. They are fighting their own futures by wasting money to keep this leviathan from being finally buried. As O’Malley looks towards Washington and Brown towards the State House remember their sheer incompetence as you consider your next vote.

Democrats on the run

Democrats on the run

Maryland is an excellent laboratory to visualize the methodologies of the progressives. Race to become governor has started and is especially ugly within the group of Democrats vying for this lofty position. Accusations of incompetence, inept management skills and racism have been thrown into the mix as the contest moves forward. Douglas Gansler, Maryland’s present Attorney General, has many sins to attest for during his tenure in office. Listening to him castigate other candidates is quite ironic. A close look at his record displays a man who is not ready for prime time. In the small event that he is elevated to the governorship, Maryland will have more of the poor leadership we have seen with O’Malley. Gansler will continue the anti-business climate of his soon to be predecessor. Taxes will move in only one direction from an astronomical standpoint. Worst of all more regulations will be piled on Marylanders to contain them personally and professionally. Gansler’s campaign appears to be in trouble. Perhaps he will pull out now and save himself the embarrassment of an overwhelming defeat.

Anthony Brown, the present Lieutenant Governor, had a heads up from this intrepid journalist until he pitched the race card. In Brown’s estimation minority businesses do not receive sufficient contracts and financial aid from Maryland’s government. Yearly, the state awards billions in contracts for required services to this very group. Afro Americans represent 30% of the Maryland’s population. Yet they receive a disproportionately higher amount of funds than other groups with greater representation. Anthony Brown’s proposals not only have a taint of racism smeared across them, they are not fair and equitable to the rest of the business community. Stated another way Brown is trying to buy votes using taxpayer dollars.

Democrats have no compunction when it comes to garnering votes. Every conceivable method to win an election will be employed. America viewed the President’s team of campaigners utilize deceptive means to pander to his base of followers and lackeys. Brown is using the same formula to rally his supporters. Maryland’s gubernatorial election, this November, will be an imprint of former state elections. Lies and deceit will drive campaigns, leaving voters with a conundrum. Do you want more of the same leadership, which has oppressed the majority of state residents, or a person with new ideas for smaller government and less regulation? The choices are obvious, choose wisely.

Maryland's media: can it be trusted

Maryland’s media: can it be trusted

Last night I was driving home from a neighboring state when I tuned in to a very popular local radio program. The usual buzz words were being tossed around by its host and several guests in the studio.  Exchanges eventually were a target of conversation as the program proceeded. Listening closely the host revealed there were nine million people who have signed up for insurance through the Exchanges. Quizzically I looked at my other half who was just as dumb founded as myself. News outlets have reported three million have signed up through mid-January. Did six million more appear out of nowhere to sign-up in the last nine days, not likely. Two other guests did not correct the host who moved on quickly to discuss the Maryland’s Governor’s race. Misinformation is common from many of Maryland’s media outlets. Baltimore Sun readers receive a dose of distortion every time they read an edition of this once balanced news concern. Journalism in Maryland has given way to agenderism when writers manipulate facts to achieve their ends. Media has been condemning Anthony Brown, potentially our next Governor, for not managing the implementation of the Maryland Exchange appropriately. Reality speaks other tones when examining this specific issue more closely. Lieutenant Governor Brown has already discussed this issue openly and has atoned for it more than necessary. Yet those in the local media would attempt to bury the best candidate so far in the race for this office. Marylanders must be discerning when listening and or reading reports from their media. Empirical sampling from multiple media sources displays they deal in fuzzy truth dynamics. Anthony Brown: Maryland's next governor

Anthony Brown: Maryland’s next governor

Anthony Brown is a man of multiple accomplishments. As Lieutenant Governor for the last seven years and a Delegate to the Maryland House for eight years preceding his rise to the Executive Branch he has become extremely familiar with the mechanisms of state government. Lieutenant Governor Brown concurrently continues to serve in the United States Army Reserves with the rank of Colonel for which he has been a member for three decades. As a Harvard trained lawyer he distinguished himself there and during his tenure in the private sector. Support for him to rise to the ultimate job in state government has been increasing at an exponential rate. Endorsements have been flooding in from a diverse number of groups and individuals who see him as a man with ability and promise. Recently he was unfairly attacked by his opponent Douglas Gansler, Maryland’s Attorney General, who is also running for governor. Gansler complains that Maryland’s health exchange implementation was mismanaged under the tutelage of Brown. This erroneous assault on the Lieutenant Governor is a desperate maneuver by Gansler to curry favor with the public. Multiple factors come into play when establishing the sophisticated software and hardware to make the health exchanges a reality. Brown depends on numerous Information Technology personnel to provide accurate and truthful data to him, they didn’t. Lieutenant Governor Brown is on record stating he could have done a better job. His honesty is refreshing, as is his extensive resume. Lieutenant Governor Brown should be judged in his own right exclusive of the man he works with, Martin O’Malley. Brown’s personal and professional accomplishments far exceed the man he works for. Maryland’s Attorney General has abused his office in numerous ways and those affected have had their careers ruined. Douglas Glansler has used Maryland Courts in a deceitful manner to move up the food chain, he should not be given the key to the Executive Suite.  When Election Day comes, the title of Governor will be awarded to Anthony Brown. Douglas Gansler: A Fading Maryland Politician

Douglas Gansler:  a fading Maryland politician

Douglas Gansler, Maryland’s Attorney General and gubernatorial hopeful initiated his campaign for higher office by introducing racism into the mix. Anthony Brown, the present lieutenant governor, was slighted by Gansler who was noted as saying Brown has few accomplishments and is relying on his race to win the 2014 primary. Gansler, who purportedly was a defender of Civil Rights during his tenure in office, appears to be opposed to them when a politician running against him is of another race. To make matters worse Gansler’s running mate Jolene Ivey staked out a claim of her own in this racism dialogue. The first few words from her when chosen to run for lieutenant governor were: she is a Trayvon Martin mom. Race appears to be on the minds of both of these candidates for higher office. Gansler was the first Maryland Attorney General to establish a Director of Civil Rights position within his department. The question is whose Civil Rights were being monitored. His Voting Irregularities Task Force was setup to ferret out voter suppression throughout Maryland. One must suspend disbelief to believe any Maryland voters were stopped from casting their ballots. Obviously the present Attorney General was pandering to 30% of the state who are of the black culture. If there is any suppression of voters’ rights in Maryland Afro-Americans are the least affected. Gansler’s attempt to bring attention to himself can be observed in the many high profile legal cases he brings to the forefront. His stance on issues has the stench of far left politics. As a physician who has been through the milieu of professional and political assassination by Gansler and his minions, he appears not to care if a legal case has credence only that it is media worthy. Recently the Maryland State Education Association overwhelmingly supported Brown in his efforts to become Governor. Too many contradictions follow Douglas Gansler in his crusade to move up the food chain. Needless to state, his present temperament on race contradicts his prior profile and its scent has been picked up by many who are looking away from him and towards Anthony Brown. Gansler has stung many to justify his political position, now his own words are biting him back. Perhaps Douglas Gansler should reconsider his run for governor, it appears others have. Maryland needs leaders not followers

Maryland needs leaders not followers

Maryland’s Governor and Attorney General (AG) are running away from their respective offices to move higher on the food chain. Governor Martin O’Malley has his eyes on the White House as Attorney General Douglas Gansler looks towards the State House. Governor O’Malley’s few accomplishments are drowned out by the enormous number of unsolved problems he will leaves in his wake. Violence throughout the state of Maryland, especially in Baltimore City and Prince George’s County, has only received lip service from someone who incessantly brags of his nonexistent achievements. Taking his lead from President Obama, Governor O’Malley will waste several billion dollars or more on green projects to nowhere. Under his mindless tutelage a rain tax now falls across Maryland, the only state in the union to institute such idiocy. Taxes, tolls, assessments and other financial extortions from the state have moved up exponentially to fund O’Malley’s massive entitlement structure. Efficiency is not in the Governor’s vocabulary. His inability to understand business dynamics caused Maryland to be named a business unfriendly state by those in the know. In the event this is the record O’Malley will run on, conservatives will have no fear of him succeeding.

Attorney General’s office sits in prime real estate in the midst of Baltimore City, not in the less expensive state towers on Preston Street. From this perch a panoramic view of Baltimore’s nightly blood bath is evident. Since his installation as Attorney General, Gansler has made no effort to stem the flow of violence surrounding his office or elsewhere in the state. The daily body count attests to the fact that his very liberal agenda, to retain office, excludes the possibility of taking on the true challenges necessary to reduce the death toll. Gansler’s well concocted bio displays his strong push for; nontraditional marriages, health care solutions through the abomination called Obamacare, gun control for victims not victimizers, diversity in state appointments without consideration for merit, baseless green energy projects and numerous other left-wing assaults driving businesses to more friendly environs. Baseless lawsuits against physicians are one of his office’s specialties. Douglas Gansler has intimidated a sufficient number of people to keep his name afloat in the media, not to dissimilar from another cohort Eliot Spitzer, who followed the same path from AG to the Governor’s office in New York. Power hungry people will go to many lengths to stay in positions that give them control over others, Gansler is no different. Recently, Gansler made several gaffes when he insisted his opponent Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown, an Afro-American, has only his race to offer as a justification for seeking the governorship.  This denigrating statement may move many out of his camp for obvious reasons. According to Gansler’s bio Civil Rights are a high priority for him, yet his speeches appear to reflect otherwise.  Both Martin O’Malley and Douglas Gansler have their priorities misplaced. Their motivations for seeking office have less to do with improving living conditions in Maryland than staying in positions of power at all costs. With these two men in charge Maryland has become more blue pushing state coffers into the red. Neither one should be honored with higher office, yet knowing Marylanders they like the status quo.
