Community Organizing: Seizing Power, Creating Socialism

Zomblog has copies of a rare Weather Underground newspaper known as Osawatomie. Published in 1975 as William Ayers and Bernardine Dohn were hiding from authorities, and as Zomblog put it:

"transitioning from terrorism..."

to inside work for the revolution...what we now know was a plan to overthrow the government of the United States, tells us what community organizing is all about, and it's all about the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis.

If you are beyond weary of hearing about William Ayers' connection to Barack Obama, Zomblog makes THE point, and I'll use it here, because it cannot be said better:

Ayers was not simply protesting "against" the Vietnam War. Firstly, he wasn't against war in principle, he was agitating for the victory of the communist forces in Vietnam. In other words: He wasn't against the war, he was against our side in the war. This is spelled out in great detail in Prairie Fire. Secondly, and more significantly, the Vietnam War was only one of many issues cited by the Weather Undergound as the justifications for their violent acts. As you will see below, in various quotes from Prairie Fire and in their own list of their violent actions (and in additional impartial documentary links), Ayers and the Weather Underground enumerated dozens of different grievances as the rationales for their bombings -- their overarching goal being to inspire a violent mass uprising against the United States government in order to establish a communist "dictatorship of the proletariat," in Ayers' own words.

The plan was to overturn the government by "creativity and AUDACITY."
The following from Osawatomie:

[transcript]… the system itself is inhuman, and socialism is a real alternative; the energy crisis is the fault of Rockefeller and the oil companies, not the Arab people; unemployment is caused by capitalism not “illegal aliens” stealing jobs; war in Indochina or the Mideast is part of the problem, not the solution; political and social action can change things.

[transcript of above] Organizers must be intimately aware of every problem and each injustice, and they must show that underneath each particular problem lies another problem, and another and another until you reach the system of imperialism itself. The system is designed to create problems for poor, Third World and working-class people. Organizers need to find small solutions to small problems and great solutions to great problems. Our solutions should be drastic.

We need to build a successful struggle, strong organization and a winning revolutionary party. This is a process, which will not emerge full-blown from our minds. It will emerge and change and grow from practice. We know where to begin.

It is with all this in mind that we have created OSAWATOMIE, the revolutionary voice of the Weather Underground Organization.

William Ayers is a communist. But don't take my word for it. He said so himself:

[transcript of above] We are a guerrilla organization. We are communist women and men, underground in the United States for more than four years.

[Zomblog] And not some nicey-nice peace-and-love kind of communist. Through his group the Weather Underground, Ayers was planning to "seize power" in a violent communist takeover of the United States:

[transcript of above] We need a revolutionary communist praty in order to lead the struggle, give coherence and direction to the fight, seize power and build the new society.

Manufactured Crisis:

[transcript of above] Our job is to tap the discontent seething in many sectors of the population, to find allies everywhere people are hungry or angry, to mobilize poor and working people against imperialism.

Obama and Ayers Shared an Office for Three Years

Barack Obama's Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) office and William Ayers' Small Schools Workshop shared the same address for a number of years - three years that can be proven by tax returns.

Visit Jon at Verum Serum for a look at his verifying screen shots and updates on the monies directly distributed by Barack Obama through the CAC (more than previously known), and a note about the $750,000.00 given to John Ayers, William Ayers' father, from the coffers of the CAC.

Remember, Obama has faced the cameras and told the voters that Weather Underground terrorist, William Ayers, is just "a guy in the neighborhood." He lied, yet again. To Verum Serum, great reporting!

Michelle Malkin, courtesy of "ex-blogger," See-dubya, snagged a quote by Bill Ayers about THAT other guy in the neighborhood, Barack Obama. Here's the story:

You may remember that as Associate Dean of Student Services at University of Chicago, Michelle Obama hosted a 1997 panel discussion based on a book published that same year by William Ayers, The Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court.

State Senator Barack Obama was the only other panelist, and Obama was there in support of Ayers' position that juvenile offenders should not be placed into the adult prison system. Students were invited to attend the discussion.

Speaking of the Hyde Park area of Chicago, where the University of Illinois is located, Ayers says:

Our neighbors include Muhammad Ali, former mayor Eugene Sawyer, poets Gwendolyn Brooks and Elisabeth Alexander, and writer Barack Obama. Minister Louis Farrakhan lives a block from our home and adds, we think, a unique dimension to the idea of "safe neighborhood watch": the Fruit of Islam, his security force, has an eye on things twenty-four hours a day.

Then Ayers dishes about the urban blight surrounding his "safe neighborhood" and quotes Mike Nichols (I'm assuming this is the director, writer, producer, grad of the University of Chicago, and husband of ABC's Diane Sawyer] who once described Hyde Park as:

"...the only racially integrated neighborhood in Chicago," and then added caustically, "it's black and white shoulder to shoulder against the poor."

"There's painful truth in that description," says Ayers, "as the powerful university and its allied neighborhood association have worked to manipulate boundaries and borders to assure "stability" and separation."

Ayers says he passes Farrakhan's mansion each day, turns North a couple of blocks and "into the lap of urban blight," - which, remember, the residents of Hyde Park stand shoulder to shoulder, on-guard AGAINST intrusion into their tony neighborhood.

Ayers believes that he and his terrorist buddies from the Weather Underground, as well as his terrorist wife, Bernardine Dohrn, have been a great force for social justice in America - standing up for the poor and the oppressed - and bombing American institutions like the Pentagon, the State Department and the U.S. Capitol.

In truth, he cost America taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollar in the 1970's for repair to some of our most beloved institutions, he threatened lives and later, after Barack Obama thought Ayers was rehabilitated, he blatantly stole huge sums of money from Chicago schools.

In September 2008, Ayers blogged about his mission as a terrorist and provided a cartoon strip to quote himself! The MSM, for the most part, ignored this message from William Ayers. Of the few places I've found the "strip" printed, Global Labor nailed it. The text in the "strip" is small, so Global Labor provided it, along with some great commentary following the cartoon strip.

Liberals see no problem with a relationship between Barack Obama and Weatherman terrorist, William Ayers. After all, Ayers was just a young man caught up in the 1960's protest of the VietNam war...he's respectable now, because you see, he is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Chicago.

Here's a quote from Ayers explaining the Weatherman philosophy. Tell me if this is the average "60's protester?"

Kill all the rich people, break up their cars and apartments, bring the revolution home...that's where it's really at.

So, how many parents died at the hands of their child following the admonitions of the Weatherman? We'll never know.

David Horowitz gives us a first-hand look at Ayers

I interviewed Ayers ten years ago, in a kindergarten classroom in uptown Manhattan where he was employed to shape the minds of inner city children. Dressed in bib overalls with golden curls rolling below his ears, Ayers reviewed his activities as a terrorist for my tape recorder. When he was done, he broke into a broad, Jack Horner grin and summed up his experience: "Guilty as hell. Free as a bird. America is a great country."

What I saw was a shallowness beyond conception. All the Weather leaders I interviewed shared a similar vacuity. They were living inside a utopian fantasy, a separate reality, and had no idea of what they had done. Nor any way to measure it. Appreciating the nation to which they were born, recognizing the great gifts of freedom and opportunity their parents and communities had given them, distinguishing between right and wrong – it was all above their mental and moral ceiling.

In the days ahead, this is one of the dangers we face.

Obama and Ayers and his convicted felon terrorist wife, Bernardine Dohrn, were likely connected as early as 1988. In fact, it's a willing suspension of disbelief to think they were not. Why? Global Labor - When Did Bill Ayers and Barack Obama Meet? has done some mighty research.

Ayers helped organize a major force in the lobbying for that 1988 campaign, the Alliance For Better Chicago Schools, or ABCs. The Developing Communities Project which Obama headed at that time was a member of the ABCs, apparently one of the few members of the ABCs that worked with the black community. Many in the black community knew that teaching, the unions and school administration were one avenue to the middle class for blacks and thus were wary of the reform effort.

Certainly support for "local control" would have been a pre-requisite to allowing Obama to chair, at such a young and untested age, the Annenberg Challenge. Thus, I think we can safely date the beginning of the Obama-Ayers relationship to at least 1988 when the ABCs effort was underway in Chicago schools. That was also when Ayers and Obama would have met up with the future Executive Director of the Annenberg Challenge, who would have been hired by Ayers and Obama, Ken Rolling. Rolling in 1988 was on the staff of the Woods Fund which provided several grants to the school reform effort and to Obama's Developing Communities Project at that time. Of course, a decade later, in 1999, as is already widely known, Ayers would join Obama on the board of the Woods Fund itself.

The Obama's, Michelle and Barack, were both employed by the law firm Sidley Austin; so were William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. Bernardine Dorhn was refused admission to the New York bar but...

More from Global Labor:...she was hired as a legal clerk by Sidley and Austin, a major Chicago law firm, in their New York office in 1984.

Howard Trienens, then managing partner of the firm, recently told the Chicago Tribune that he arranged the hiring of Dohrn as a favor to his fellow Northwestern University trustee and classmate, Tom Ayers [William Ayers' father].

Tom Ayers' firm, Commonwealth Edison, has used Sidley as outside counsel for many years. She later worked in their Chicago office when she and Bill Ayers moved back to Chicago in 1987. She left Sidley in 1988.

Later, both Barack and Michelle Obama were hired by Sidley Austin. I think it ridiculous to assume there was no talk around the office water-cooler about the Ayers.

Still later, Barack Obama went to work for Judson Miner, "a small civil rights law firm in Chicago."

Miner was also classmates with Bernardine Dohrn at the University of Chicago law school in 1967 where they were both were involved in anti-war activity.

Barack Obama will do most anything to keep this relationship hidden. When you get to the voting booth, or hopefully long before, remember the photo above and Obama's lack of judgement.

If he really abhorred William Ayers' past, he still continued to use him to propel his career forward.

Bill Clinton's Twist on Obama-Ayers: Hillary had the Ammo

We all knew that Hillary had something on Barack Obama...something that would tilt the Presidential primaries to her side...something that would put her on the path to the Oval Office. It didn't happen...but why?

On the campaign trail, why would Hillary not use the terrorism-card against Obama's high-profile friendship with a man who spent some time on the FBI's 10 Ten Most Wanted List?

It must have occurred to Hillary that being friends with a man who was in on the bombing of the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon and the U.S. State Department might escalate her opportunity to become the Democrat nominee for President.


But Hillary remained silent about the relationship between Weatherman terrorist, William Ayers and his equally terror-mongering wife, Bernadine Dorn.

Did America come to believe that this personal and political friendship was of no importance...that surely it was overstated...that it couldn't be proved?



Bill Clinton, Hillary's biggest obstacle to the White House, got in Hillary's way again, but it began many years ago. Hillary had the ammo but couldn't use it, according to Andrew McCarthy, contributing editor at National Review Online (NRO):

The embassy bombings were almost a distant memory. Not three months had passed since terrorists bombed the U.S.S. Cole, murdering 17 American sailors and nearly sinking a U.S. destroyer. No matter. Clinton’s last official acts in office included the pardons of Susan Rosenberg, a Weatherman terrorist serving a richly deserved 58-year sentence, and Linda Sue Evans, a Weatherman terrorist serving a richly deserved 40-year sentence.

Barack Obama has an inexplicable relationship with Weatherman terrorist Bill Ayers — and Ayers’s wife, the equally disgusting Weatherman terrorist Bernadine Dohrn. It’s a disqualifying relationship. All that needed to happen was for Obama’s opponent to point it out.

Hillary Clinton couldn’t point it out.

Hillary didn't snitch on him, but we are learning the details of Obama-Ayers day-by-day, anyway, and this cozy relationship is not pretty.

William Ayers, the former Weatherman, became a professor at University of Illinois at Chicago. He founded the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) in conjunction with $50 million funder, the Annenberg Foundation. Barack Obama was brought in to be CAC's first Chairman of the Board.

Obama, along with ex-officio board member Bill Ayers, spent over $100 million dollars on failed programs to supposedly boost the learning skills in Chicago public schools.

Within the program, schools WERE NOT targeted to receive grants directly. Grant requests were given to "chosen" "external partners," to which schools needed to attach themselves. Bill Ayers' Small Schools" program qualified for money, and it is reported that Obama's former church, Trinity United Church of Christ, headed by Pastor Jeremiah Wright also received funds. The District 5 Math project was rejected, The Chicago Algebra Project was rejected. The South Shore African Village Collaborative was accepted.

Chicago public schools did not improve. The program was an utter failure.
