Democrats renew gun control measures for the campaign and beyond

The New York Times sees a renewal of Democrat’s efforts to increase restrictions on guns. The newspaper says that after 20 years of holding back on the gun control initiative, “a string of mass shootings involving high-powered weapons, rising anxiety about domestic terrorism, and killings of and by police officers have emboldened Democrats. They say the shootings are intensifying support for gun control, elevating weapons policy to a top-tier issue, with particularly strong appeal to suburban female voters.”

Democrats, The Times says, will press the case for new restrictions in political races across the country that will include expanded background checks, new limits on gun purchases and increased scrutiny on gun makers and dealers, all of which is buoyed by polls they say show strong support for these measures.

National Rifle Association (NRA) spokeswoman Jennifer Baker said, however, the American public would ultimately reject added gun control because Democrats, while cloaking their gun agenda in the language of “common sense,” really want to go much further. “The political elites and D.C. politicians don’t understand Middle America,” she said. “They don’t understand that voters support the Second Amendment and the individual right to self-protection.” The NRA says Clinton would put an individual’s right to self-defense at risk.

Connecticut Democrat Senator Christopher Murphy agrees that Clinton and other gun control advocates are committed to making the issue a major theme of the campaign, and should she win the November election will continue it in her presidency. “This issue is a core value for Hillary Clinton and it is good politics,” Murphy said.

Clinton’s running mate, Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, also supports the idea that gun control will be a presidential initiative. Kaine has long been an advocate for stricter gun laws, moved by the mass shooting at Virginia Tech in 2007 when he was Virginia’s Governor. The shooting, in which a South Korean student with mental health problems killed 32 students and faculty, prompted Kaine to seek to bar the mentally ill from acquiring guns.

This idea has merit, but is fraught with potential danger in the hands of liberals, who so often fail to use due care in creating policy, and create as many problems as they solve. Liberals have the bad habit of indulging in what Dr. Thomas Sowell calls “stage-one thinking,” which ignores possible downstream results in order to rush through some “wonderful” idea.

In fact, the 2016 Democrat Party Platform states: “While responsible gun ownership is part of the fabric of many communities, too many families in America have suffered from gun violence. We can respect the rights of responsible gun owners while keeping our communities safe.”

One of the favored talking points in support of restricting the rights of law abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families, and restrict their use of firearms for sport and recreation is that 30,000 people die in America each year from guns.

For the sake of discussion, let’s accept that 30,000 figure, which – taken all by itself, without context – is shocking. That’s a lot of people.

However, when context is applied, that number seems substantially less damning. Considered as part of the roughly 320,000,000 total population of the United States, it represents just .0001 percent. That means each American has a one in ten thousand chance of dying from a gunshot each year. And that doesn’t dig down into the details of gun deaths, showing how many are accidents, suicides, or justified shootings.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), more than 20 times more people die from heart disease each year than from guns, and nearly that many die from cancer. More people – 42,700 – die from “intentional self-harm (suicide)” than from gun violence.

In 2013, according to DrugWarFacts.org, which cites data from the CDC, motor vehicle deaths totaled 35,369, all homicides were 16,121, and in 2014, drug overdoses claimed 47,055 lives.

Gun deaths do not appear on the list of the top ten causes of death in America. In fact, The Times quotes FBI data showing slightly more than 8,000 gun homicides in 2014, quite a difference from the overhyped 30,000 figure.

Conspicuously missing from the liberal tirade is that guns are inanimate objects, incapable of doing anything on their own. Like such things as hammers, kitchen knives and automobiles, guns are under the control of their user. Is this simple concept too complex for liberals to understand?

Or perhaps it just gets in their way: They know and understand that a disarmed populace is a compliant populace.

The Patriot Post notes, “This year’s [DNC] platform doesn’t even bother to mention the words ‘Second Amendment’ … Drafters opted instead for the meaningless tripe about how ‘gun ownership is a part of the fabric of many communities.’ Fabric can be changed. Rights endowed by our Creator cannot.”

The actions of average Americans tell a story different from Democrats. Townhall.com reports that women obtaining concealed carry permits increased at twice the rate of men from 2012 to 2016. And the Crime Prevention Research Center notes that the murder rate fell by16 percent between 2007 and 2015.

Yet again Democrats are wrong about what Americans think.

Kids, Guns and America's Failing Education System

Here is a novel idea that would help bring value back into our failing education system.   Start teaching kids gun safety in schools and let the local sheriff departments and responsible community members like those in Tea Team USA help set the courses up.

The Battle Of Athens

By Findalis
Monkey in the Middle

Or How Common Citizens Removed A Corrupt Government From Their County.

The Battle of Athens (sometimes called the McMinn County War) was a rebellion led by citizens in Athens and Etowah, Tennessee, United States, against the local government in August 1946. The citizens, including some World War II veterans, accused the local officials of political corruption and voter intimidation.

Here is what happened:

Following World War II in 1946, violence erupted when returning American soldiers discovered their Tennessee county had been taken over by political corruption. Their plan to take it back involved bullets—lots of bullets—and dynamite.

Why Athens in McMinn County, Tennessee became a battleground was due to Paul Cantrell, a Democrat running for sheriff in the 1936 election. He won over his Republican opponent, although the victory was tainted by rumors of fraud. Cantrell was a corrupt sheriff—for example, since state law allowed his office to collect fees for each person booked, jailed, and released, deputies boarded buses passing through the city and arrested passengers on bogus charges of drunkenness, forcing them to pay fines. Prostitution, gambling, and kickbacks from illegal drinking establishments were commonplace.

The tide began to turn in 1945 when GIs returning to Athens were subjected to arrest on the flimsiest excuses and heavily fined. When the fed up soldiers attempted to support their choice for sheriff against Pat Mansfield (by then, Cantrell had been elected to the state Senate and backed Mansfield’s bid), matters boiled over into direct conflict on Election Day 1946.

Mansfield hired several hundred armed “deputies” to patrol the voting precincts in Athens—and no doubt to assist in the typical ballot stuffing and voter intimidation. The volatile situation escalated when Walter Ellis, an ex-GI and volunteer poll watcher, was arrested by Mansfield’s deputies and held without charge. A black resident, Tom Gillespie, was refused the right to vote, beaten, and shot. More GIs were arrested and threatened with violence. By the end of the day, the former soldiers had enough.

They broke into the town armory for weapons and besieged the jail, where Mansfield and his deputies had taken the ballet boxes. Battle continued sporadically throughout the night, resulting in wounded on both sides. When the GIs ran out of bullets around dawn, they began throwing dynamite. The deputies inside the jail surrendered.

The highly publicized Battle of Athens not only ousted corruption from one county in Tennessee, the lesson learned would ultimately lead to great reforms in Southern politics.

**************************************************************************

This is a part of American history that all elected official should learn and remember.  When the government forgets whom they serve and dictates to the American People what to think, do, say, read, and how to vote, it is incumbent upon the citizens of that town, city, county, state or nation to rise up and remove (By force if necessary.) the dictator.

What happened in Athens, Tennessee was the most extreme example of citizen action.  The last resort of a desperate people.

In such desperation the American people will do anything to return their rights to them.  Something every politician in this nation should remember.

It's Not The Guns, It's The Madman Doing The Killing!

By Findalis
Monkey in the Middle

After the tragedy of last Friday, the leftist of the nation, headed by President Barack Hussein Obama, are demanding that the nation dismantle the 2nd Amendment and take guns away from the citizens of the land.  It seems that every time a tragedy happens, the left want to remove the guns as if it was the panacea that will cure all the ills of the land.

This panacea has been tried through out Europe and other places.  In Great Britain they removed guns from the hands of the people and violent crime has risen by 25%.  The problem in some areas is so great that the average Brit is afraid to leave his or her home at night.  In fact home invasion robberies are on the rise and the new self-defense weapons (knives, baseball and cricket bats) are now being outlawed.  They are destroying their nation in order to achieve a Utopia.

In Australia guns were removed from the people 5 years ago.  Violent crime has risen 6000%.  The people are demanding their guns to be returned.  They are not safe, the police are not helping and they have no way to defend themselves.

In the City of Chicago there have been 436 murders so far this year.  That is up from 435 for the total of last year.  Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation.  Yet the murder rate is climbing to be almost 2 murders a day.  That is about 60 deaths a month.  Way more than the 26 at Newtown, CT.  Yet the leftists in the city call for more gun control.  It doesn't work.

Now we are hearing the same cries.  Get rid of the guns.  Get rid of the assault weapons.  Get rid of the large magazines.  Get rid of the bullets.  But not the true reason for the massacres.

BLAME THE MURDERER!  GET THE MENTALLY ILL VIOLENT MURDERERS OUT OF OUR MIDST!!!

Now I've just said a horribly bigoted thing.  After all, these people have an illness.  They cannot be just thrown into a hospital.  The old State Mental Hospitals were eliminated because they were cruel placed.  The mentally ill have rights!   They need to be allowed out amongst us.  They have the right to a life.

What the bleeding heart liberals refuse to recognize is that not all the mentally ill are able to be amongst us.  In fact, it is for our safety that they need to be locked away.

The great number of the mentally ill (90%) take their medicine, see their doctor, live quite normal lives.  They are not violent.  They are our neighbors and friends.  They are no harm to themselves and others.

A smaller amount need a more structured environment.  A group home or the like will be fine for these people.  They need a person telling them how to live each day or even each hour at time.  They might become violent or self-destructive, but can be controlled better.

The last group, a very small minority, are extremely violent.  They WILL hurt themselves or others.  They WILL find a way to acquire guns, explosives or even knives.  These are the madmen who WILL commit a murder, murder/suicide, or even a mass murder.  They have no feelings for others, no consciences.  Killing is just another high for them.  These are the mentally ill that MUST be hospitalized before they kill.

Unfortunately there is no way to commit a young person to a State Hospital to protect society.  Until a person commits a crime, and is "in the system", one cannot commit a dangerous individual.  In fact it is only until a mentally ill commits the crime, he or she will not even get any help.  Over 50% of prisoners in US prisons are mentally ill.  In fact our prison system has become our State Mental Hospitals.  Prison budgets are being bloated by the care of the mentally ill.  By the drugs and therapy these people need every day.  And true criminals, many who will repeat their crimes over and over without any mental illness, are put upon the streets of our cities in order to care for the mentally ill.

This should not be.  In fact the tragedy in Newtown, CT could have been prevented if Nancy Lanza had been able to call a state run hotline, explained her fears, and gotten Adam into a state facility for evaluation.  If that had been an option for her, she would be alive and 26 innocent victims would be celebrating the season.

Should we not address the guns which did not kill anyone, but the mentally ill man who commits this crime.

Gun Sales In America Soar ... AGAIN

Gun Sales In America Soar ... AGAIN
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

The very possible reelection of Barrack Obama for another four years as President of the United States is frightening the living daylights out of Americans. So, they are buying up guns and ammunition at yet another record rate just as they did in 2008. There are already shortages of weapons and ammo in parts of the country.
As folks have observed the Republican primaries, watched the debates, and considered the polls, they are becoming more and more convinced that not only will the republican candidate for President lose, but he will lose big.

Added to that fear is yet another -- that Obama, with another four years and no worries about having to stand for reelection, will toss the Second Amendment out on its ear. His disregard for the US Constitution has become something of legend here in America's southland.

The fear that with a second term of Obama, the country will quickly sink into total anarchy is driving Americans to seek some kind of security and protection for themselves and for their families.

The possibility that Obama will ignore the Second Amendment is not as ridiculous as it might sound at first. By now, Americans have witnessed Obama's abuse of the power of the Executive Order. It is a powerful tool in the hands of any President. But, in the hands of a socialist president, it can be an offensive weapon to strike deep into the heart of American freedom. THAT is why so many Americans no longer feel protected by the US Constitution.

There is more than one way to skin a cat, as the old saying goes. Obama knows that. He has proven to be adept at going around a Congress that would stymie his unconstitutional efforts. He has created "Czars" and agencies and loaded other government committees and boards with "fellow travelers" who will do his bidding.
In that portion of America where people still cling to their God and their guns, notice has been taken of Obama's methods. It did not go unnoticed that he, more often then not, gets his way even when the people's congress defies him.

The folks in that part of America, which lies between the eastern and western coastal zones, take vastly different views of what it means to be free, to be an individual rather than part of some sort of collective. It makes them a different breed from their fellow Americans who live in the great cities on America's eastern and western coasts. They cherish their freedom and their liberty.
When a man can step onto his front porch and see the horizon miles away -- and not feet away -- it gives him an entirely different understanding of the words liberty and freedom. To him, they are not just words. They are God-given rights. He understands that he has a responsibility to protect those gifts even if it means placing his life in jeopardy.

These are the Americans who most feel the encroachment of a power hungry government bent on depriving them of those rights. And they are afraid.
But that fear is not driving them into "hidie-holes." No. It is driving them into revetments and fortifications and in some cases -- bunkers.

In the southern states, distrust of the federal government is embedded in our genome. We are born into this world hard-wired that way. But to see symptoms of this same distrust of government become so evident in all regions of the country is surprising -- and telling.

The folks on the left would like us to believe it is the result of the terrible economy. But that simply is not so.

Americans have seen bad times before. We have dealt with them and come through them stronger as a people and as a nation.

No, it is not the economy driving people to their guns. It is raw, rank, fear of the grasping, power hungry, individuals at the top of our government and the socialist agenda they are driven to see to its successful overthrow of America's capitalist society and the enslavement of the entire nation.

Though many on the left will deny it, it is clear to anyone who wishes to see, that our President is a socialist ideologue. It is equally clear that he has only begun his "fundamental transformation" of America into a socialist nation. He desperately needs another four year term to continue to weave the tentacles of socialism through the very fabric of America and crush her great heart.

As we said earlier, it has become apparent to some Americans that the Republican Party has decided to "punt" this election and look toward the election in 2016. The hierarchy of the party may feel it is the best thing for the party, but it will leave a lot of bitterness amongst conservative voters in America and there WILL be a price exacted in 2016 and beyond. It will not be forgotten that when America was in trouble -- the GOP "A" team chose not to even come out of the locker room.

So when you read the news stories concerning Americans buying guns in record numbers, don't be surprised. They have concluded that Obama will be reelected and they are people preparing for the collapse of the country they love and the reign of anarchy to follow.

How about you?

Obama Turns His Attention to Gun Control

Obama Turns His Attention to Gun Control
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

For a President seeking a second term, Obama continues to act as though he really intends to be a one-term President. He is the most “tone-deaf” of any president in recent memory when it comes to hearing what the people of America are shouting at the top of their lungs.

We are all familiar with the expression about Social Security being the “third-rail of politics.” One touch and you are dead. There is truth to that. But – there is another “untouchable” for a President of the US – and Obama just grabbed it with both hands. The right of the people to own and bear arms. There is nothing more American than owning and carrying a firearm… nothing.

The USA was carved out of a wilderness with guns. Civilization was imposed upon this continent with guns. The country was rescued from a British despot with guns. The seas were made safe for American commerce with guns. A so-called “Civil-War” was fought by Americans against Americans with guns. The western portion of the US was won, settled, and civilized with guns. Europe was Made Safe for Democracy by Americans and their guns. Again, Europe and much of the Pacific was freed and made safe by Americans with their guns. For forty years, Americans fought, with their guns, brushfire wars, and out and out full-blown wars, in diverse places around the globe, and stood their ground with firearms in hand and foiled the communist agenda to take-over the world by conquest of war.

Today, American is the global cop patrolling the sea-lanes of the planet guaranteeing the safe usage of the seas by all countries involved in peaceful commerce. We do it with force of arms… in other words … with American firearms/GUNS.

Since the British military, under the command of King George, America has not been invaded by a foreign power. There is a very good reason for that. Americans are armed to the teeth.

Americans are a free people. Since we won or freedom from Great Britain, we have never had a dictator, and we continue to enjoy a constitutional representative republic. There is a very good reason for that, as well. Americans are armed to the teeth.

It is the Second Amendment of the US Constitution that guarantees the rights granted by the First Amendment.

Above, I noted that America has never had a dictator. We have never had a king, either. But, I will add that America is as close as she has ever been to having a self-proclaimed king, “Obama the First.”

The problem with narcissists is they give absolutely no credence to the wants and desires and even the opinions of anyone other than themselves. That describes Mr. Obama to a “T.” He doesn’t hear the American citizen telling him, loud and clear: “Hands off our guns!”

Over the weekend, Obama wrote an op-ed piece for the Arizona Daily Star. In the article he said: “I know that every time we try to talk about guns, it can reinforce stark divides. People shout at one another, which makes it impossible to listen. We mire ourselves in stalemate, which makes it impossible to get to where we need to go as a country.” (SOURCE)

That paragraph, right there, tells you all you need to know about Obama. Take note of: “ … which makes it impossible to get to where we need to go as a country.”

Question: WHO, exactly, other than Obama, decides WHERE the country needs to go?

Hey, I am only a poor, old, country boy, down here in the swamps of the southeast, but I was sorta under the impression that WE THE PEOPLE DECIDE WHERE AMERICA NEEDS TO GO. Obama, obviously, believes HE decides, issues the command, and we are expected to follow. That’s what kings do. Not Presidents of the United States.

Obama continues: “That's why our focus right now should be on sound and effective steps that will actually keep those irresponsible, law-breaking few from getting their hands on a gun in the first place.” (SOURCE)

Of course, THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE to accomplish in America. Guns can be self-manufactured in a home workshop. Back in my wild and wooly days as a teenager, I did it. It is that simple.

The leftist gun-grabbers are SO naive it is extremely difficult to understand how they cannot know this. The nonsense they spew about keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally unbalanced is so far out of touch with the facts on the ground that it is just impossible to believe that it is anything other than a smokescreen to hide their intention of stripping every American of his or her gun.

We knew Obama would eventually get to gun control. He has arrived.

So, what does it mean? It means he will lose this battle and he will take down a slew of democrats in the next election should they be stupid enough to support his efforts at infringement of the Second Amendment.

If this is a battle the democrats REALLY want to fight, then bring it on. The result is a foregone conclusion. Supporters of Obama’s efforts at gun control will lose the battle and, most likely, their seats in the US Congress. THAT would be a GOOD thing.

Will The US Senate Ratify the UN Small Arms Treaty?

Will The US Senate Ratify the UN Small Arms Treaty?
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

We haven’t heard much about gun control lately here in America, and I am beginning to believe that is by design. The Obama Administration is hoping for Senate ratification of the treaty, which would, almost certainly, gut the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution.

The fact of the matter is this: The UN Small Arms Treaty amounts to global gun control.

In a letter from Congressman Paul Broun, Republican of Georgia, posted at the website of the National Association for Gun Owners Rights (HERE) the congressman says the following:

“With willing one-world accomplices in Washington, D.C., gun-grabbers around the globe believe they have it made.

In fact, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just announced the Obama Administration would be working hand in glove with the U.N. to pass a new “Small Arms Treaty."

Disguised as legislation to help in the fight against “terrorism,” “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates,” the U.N.’s Small Arms Treaty is nothing more than a massive, GLOBAL gun control scheme.

If passed by the U.N. and ratified by the U.S. Senate, the U.N.’s Small Arms Treaty would almost certainly FORCE national governments to:

Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding citizens cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally;

CONFISCATE and DESTROY ALL “unauthorized” civilian firearms (all firearms owned by the government are excluded, of course);

BAN the trade, sale and private ownership of ALL semi-automatic weapons;

Create an INTERNATIONAL gun registry, setting the stage for full-scale gun CONFISCATION.

The citizen “unrest” in America today may make the ratification by the US Senate of this “treaty” seem far more palatable and even desirous by those in power in the American government today. And that is why we bring this warning to you today. We must keep a wary eye on the goings-on in the national legislature.

In July of 2009, we issued a warning concerning the unceasing work of “gungrabbers” in America. In that article we said the following: “So America edges ever closer to losing the citizen’s right to keep and bear arms, quite possibly even the right to carry a knife. There can be no doubt that a knife, in the time of our forefathers, was, indeed, a weapon. It would, no doubt, fall into the category of “arms.” There can also be no doubt as to why the forefathers felt it important to place this amendment (the second amendment) in the constitution as a part of the original 10 amendments that made up the Bill of Rights. They had just fought a war against a tyrant to gain their freedom - and they did it with a citizen’s army composed of men who owned their own weapons!

George Washington, the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army and the first President of the United States said the following: "A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."

Thomas Jefferson said the following: "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."

And finally, words from the most well known of the tyrants of the last century, Adolf Hitler: “The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed the subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty.”

It is good, I think, to note that The Forefathers felt so highly of the right to keep and bear arms that it is the SECOND Amendment. The first being, of course, freedom of speech, religion, etc.

We must tread softly, yet boldly, as we attempt to protect our rights these days. America has two generations of citizens trained in socialism as products of the Public (Government) School System. Like “Pavlov’s Dog” they await only the ringing of the bell to respond in defense of the “greater good.” But, like the other dog, chasing it’s tail, they haven’t the reasoning ability to ask of themselves what they intend to do with the tail if, and when, they DO catch it?” (You may read the entire article (HERE).

“The price of freedom is, indeed, eternal vigilance.” The Democratic Party has demonstrated over the past 4 years their utter contempt for the concerns and wishes of the American citizen. As they continue to hold the reins of power throughout this lame duck session of the Congress and will maintain control of the Senate after January first of 2011, we cannot drop our guard, or divert our attention for one moment. If there is a way, anyway, (as we have learned the hard way) the democrats will try to sneak ratification of the UN Small Arms Treaty through the Senate with no regard for the opposition of American gun owners nor for those who insist the US Constitution still reigns supreme in America -- and not the UN.

As long as the Obama Regime remains in power along with the liberal-socialists politicians that are, unfortunately, the Democratic Party these days, the constitutional rights of all Americans are in peril.

We conservatives must work harder than ever as we continue our endeavor to rid our nation’s leadership of those who support the United Nations and their goal of establishing a one world government, or global government, under THEIR control.

We must not allow the UN Small Arms Treaty to be rarified by the US Senate… period!

How Many States Plan To Disarm?

How Many States Plan To Disarm?
A Gun Ban in the US is Impossible
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
**********************
Text of the 2nd amendment to the US Constitution:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

What part of “SHALL NOT” do the gun control advocates NOT UNDERSTAND?

This time, the US Supreme Court has been asked to decide if the states have the right to take your guns away. We’re talking about the state governments – not the federal government.

The “gun grabbers” have not given up. Oh, no! They are “true believers,” choosing to believe in the myth and the fairy tale that if you take people’s guns away America will be a safer place. They believe this in spite of the facts out there for everyone to see.

See, those stubborn facts tell a different story. Those facts tell us that when you mandate by law that citizens must give up their guns, law-abiding citizens will do it. They won’t like it. They will grumble and fuss, but in the end -- they will give them up. On the other hand the citizens who do not abide by the law will not give up their guns and, as a result, a huge power shift occurs. Power is snatched from the hands of the law-abiding citizens and given to the government and the outlaws…. but I repeat myself. Next comes anarchy.

I’ll make a prediction here. If the time ever comes in America when the government, state or federal, forces the citizens to give up their guns and the bad guys begin their reign of fear, a cottage industry will spring up all across the land. It will be an industry turning out homemade firearms. Soon that will turn into a full-fledged black market where underground illicit firearms factories will be created to meet the demand from citizens seeking protection for their homes and their families.

There is something very important the elite in this country do not know. That is -- just how easy it is to produce a firearm. Even “yours truly” produced homemade firearms while still a student in high school. I even had a single shot 22 caliber “zip gun” (made by me) sewn inside the sleeve of my black horsehide leather jacket! No Joke! I was serious then -- and I am serious now.

A fellow student produced a handgun so powerful it blew a nice fat, round, hole through the side of his father’s barn. And we were KIDS! How sophisticated do you think a couple of high school kids were about the intricacies of producing firearms?

The point is, just like prohibition, a ban on firearms in the United States will back fire and it will create more problems than ever expected by the gungrabbers and/or the government whether that government is state or federal. And mark this: neither a state government nor the federal government will be able to handle it.

Let us say, hypothetically, of course, that a state government decides to ban guns within that state. How long do you think it will be before thriving gun smuggling operations are set up to meet the demand for guns in that “gun-free” state? I’d give it hours. Maybe the leaders of the gungrabbers have not thought about this – but you can bet the ATF has!

Understand this. Banning guns in the United States is impossible. It cannot be done, except on paper. The citizens of this country will be armed.

The Supreme Court will, more than likely, hand down their decision before June of this year. The American citizens have already made their decision. They WILL have guns – one way -- or the other.

The UN to take US Guns?

The UN IS COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS, AMERICA.
OBAMA LEADS THE UN GUNGRABBER PACK!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
********************************************

Back in October of 2009, the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, publicly announced that the US WOULD support UN negotiations of an Arms Trade Treaty to regulate international gun trafficking. The Bush administration, you may remember, and, notably, former Permanent U.S. Representative to the United Nations, John Bolton, opposed negotiations of this treaty for years.

Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton has said: "Conventional arms transfers are a crucial national security concern for the United States, and we have always supported effective action to control the international transfer of arms. The United States is prepared to work hard for a strong international standard in this area."

The US then joined a vote, which was almost unanimous; to adopt a resolution, which would set a schedule, a timetable, on the proposed Arms Trade Treaty. Within that resolution was a proposal to finalize the accord in the year 2012.

Gun Owners in the US are gravely concerned over this move by the UN – and -- more importantly, by the Obama Regime, to support it. To many gun enthusiasts it is a dangerous submission of America's Constitution to “Global Governance” -- and there is a growing belief that it is an attempt by the Obama Regime to create private gun control laws it knows it cannot get through the US Congress. It doesn’t take any imagination, at all, to quickly understand that this treaty would effectively cancel rights granted US citizens by the 2nd amendment to the US Constitution. Our right to “keep and bear arms” would no longer exist.

US gun rights supporters are up in arms – and with good reason. John Bolton, former Permanent U.S. Representative to the United Nations, fought the proposed treaty for quite a while. He has seen it up close and personally. Bolton, in remarks he made recently to Ginny Simone, managing editor of the National Rifle Associations' NRA News and host of the NRA's Daily News program, said the following: "The administration is trying to act as though this is really just a treaty about international arms trade between nation states, but there's no doubt – as was the case back over a decade ago – that the real agenda here is domestic firearms control." Bolton continued: "There's never been any doubt when these groups talk about saying they only want to prohibit illicit international trafficking in small arms and light weapons, it begs the whole question of what's legal and what's not legal. And many of the implications of these treaty negotiations are very much in their domestic application. So, whatever the appearance on the surface, there's no doubt that domestic firearm control is right at the top of their agenda." Bolton went on to say: "After the treaty is approved and it comes into force, you will find out that it has this implication or that implication and it requires the Congress to adopt some measure that restricts ownership of firearms," he said. "The administration knows it cannot obtain this kind of legislation purely in a domestic context … They will use an international agreement as an excuse to get domestically what they couldn't otherwise."

It turns out there are some seven countries pushing the UN Arms Treaty, Great Britain, Australia, Argentina, Costa Rica, Finland, Japan, and Kenya.

Interestingly, Great Britain has had a virtual explosion of violent crime since they all but banned guns back in 1997. Just a few months ago, the British press reported that England and Wales now have the highest violent crime in the European Union – a rate which, in fact, exceeds that of the United States and even hyper-violent South Africa. Mailonline reported: “In the decade following [the election of the Labor Party] in 1997, the number of recorded violent attacks soared by 77 percent to 1.158 million – more than two every minute.”

It seems that Great Britain, with their near ban of gun ownership by private citizens, has a violent crime victimization rate of 2,034 per 100,000 residents. While here, in the, oh, so violent USA, with our far less restrictive gun laws, we have a violence rate of only 466 crimes per 100,000 residents. Even South Africa’s rate is lower, at 1,677 violent crimes per 100,000. You can read an exceptional article on this subject HERE.

In the land “down under,” Australia, the Aussies are suffering an escalation in violent crimes as well. The Australia Institute of Criminology reports that assault alone occurs at a rate of 840 per 100,000 – a rate that increased dramatically since the Port Arthur ban.

You might find it interesting what the Aussies have to put up with now that firearms are nearly banned in their fair land. It is, indeed, a warning for their cousins, the Americans. “The Manly Daily” reported, back in October of 2009, that pursuant to the Australian Firearms Act of 1996: “Northern Beaches Police will be turning up on the doorstep of every licensed gun owner in the area over the next four years to check their firearms are stored correctly.

Operation Aston follows the gun amnesty that ended on May 31 and will target guns stored incorrectly and the security of gun safes, Northern Beaches Commander Doreen Cruickshank said.

“Gun owners have a responsibility to ensure their weapon is safely stored at all times when not in use,” Supt Cruickshank said.

“Licensing police will be attending the home of every licensed firearm owner in the northern beaches over the next four years to inspect every weapon and check the gun safe.
“Officers will be examining all gun safes to ensure they comply with the legislative requirements, particularly in relation to the standard and security of safes.”

Supt Cruickshank reminded all legitimate owners that under the Firearms Act they must take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safekeeping of their firearms.

“It’s especially important that weapons are stored in such a way as to limit the possibility of loss or theft, so they don’t come into the possession of a person who isn’t authorized to hold them,” she said.

The maximum penalty for incorrect storage of a weapon is two years in jail. You may read the article HERE.

You might be interested in this, as well: In Australia, for every firearm, a purchaser must obtain a Permit To Acquire. The first permit for each person has a mandatory 28 day delay before it is issued. In some states, such as Queensland, this is waived for second and subsequent firearms of the same class, whilst in others, it is not. For each firearm a "Genuine Reason" must be given, relating to pest control, hunting, target shooting, or collecting. Self-defense is not accepted as a reason for issuing a license.

THIS is where America is headed if the “gungrabbers” get their “reasonable gun control” laws. They know they cannot get those laws passed through Congress but they have an excellent chance to get them through the UN Arms Trade Treaty.
