In Support of Voter ID ... J. D. Longstreet

In Support of Voter ID
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
************

America desperately NEEDS voter ID in all fifty states.

When you have sat, as I have,  in smoke filled rooms all night and well into the day after Election Day waiting on precincts to report in because they are waiting to determine how many votes are necessary for THEIR candidate to win the election and somehow, those ballots just seem to appear in the wee hours of the next day,  when you have seen entire ballot boxes disappear from polling places at the close of the election day to be found days later in a farmer's barn, when you have sat in hearing after hearing on voter irregularities, as I have, when you have sat in rooms with board of election officials on one side of the table and members of the US Justice Department with 357 Magnums on one hip and IBM belt recorders on the other hip sitting on the opposite side of the table carefully counting the ballots all over again, when you have witnessed paper ballots already filled out being exchanged for blank ballots to voters near a polling place, when you have seen altercations between precinct officials in which heated language, threats of bodily harm, and a knife are involved, when your county becomes known by the Feds as "Little Chicago" -- then MAYBE you can understand why I support such a simple unassuming safeguard as a state issued identification card that proves you are, in  fact, the registered voter on the voter rolls of your precinct.

I have seen so much of this sort of thing, that I always have my voter registration card in my pocket, ready to show to precinct officials at a moment's notice on election day.

Folks where I live just about "bust a gut" laughing when the US Attorney General claims a voter ID would disenfranchise some voters.  Does he actually believe that we believe him?  Surely he is not THAT disconnected from reality?  Is he?

Does Washington actually believe we buy the cock and bull story that states, especially SOUTHERN states, are really attempting to keep black voters from voting?  The Obama Regime is still treating the Southern states as if they had extended Reconstruction and it has done nothing but aggravate and enrage a few million Southern voters, both democrats and republicans.

Look.  Anyone falling for the Obama regime's stance on Voter ID -- well, let's just say, they probably ought to be administered an IQ test before being allowed to vote.

This is, without doubt, the dumbest debate we have ever had in this country -- at least in my lifetime.

The only political party sure to benefit from allowing anyone and every one to vote, whether they are dead or alive, citizen or non-citizen, or have voted numerous times at widely separated polling places -- is the Democratic Party. EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT!   But the stakes for the democrats are so high, they do not seem to mind making complete fools of themselves running a transparent con game right before the eyes of the nation.

Have they NO SHAME?  Of COURSE they don't!

There is something malevolent and malignant in their defense of wide open voting by anyone, citizen or non citizen, dead or alive, as well as serial voters. Humans with the ability to feel shame and embarrassment would not do such a thing.

As debased as American society is today, a fair election is next to impossible.  Election day is quickly becoming a joke.

A poll watcher remarked to me a few years back that he had noted that I never miss an election, even having been transported from the hospital to the polling place to cast my ballot from my wife's car.   I answered his remark by saying that he was right.  Men had died to secure this opportunity for me and I darn well intended to see to it that as long as  I lived, I'd be there to cast a ballot, one way or the other.

It seems always to be those mean ole white conservative Southern republicans who want to insist that only living, registered, "human" citizens vote in America's elections.  (GASP!!)

Why, the very thought that only people with a pulse, only humans, and only citizens of the US be allowed to vote is oppressive to the democrats!  Why, they practically swoon at even the suggestion that someone would vote who is not legally entitled to do so!!!

Then the democrats roll out the artillery intended to stop the debate in its tracks -- they scream it's RACIST!  Of course, we are insisting that only living members of the "HUMAN" RACE vote.   OK, maybe that is what they mean by calling us racists.

In my opinion,  racism is most definitely involved, and it is practiced hardily, handily,  and with gusto by the very folks who claim to be the targets of racism.  It is THEY who will not allow racism to perish.  They have found it an easy tool to cover their own ineptitude AND a handy tool to bludgeon members of any other race that dares to claw its way out of poverty and take its place among the productive contributing members of its respective society.

If there is such a thing as "reverse racism" it is the democrats and their wards who are past masters as practitioners of this most vile of all the methods of national sabotage.

A voter ID is just that.  It matters not if the hand that holds it is black, white, brown, red or, whatever.  It represents dignity, honesty, and above all truth.  And the truth, it would seem,  is an affront to the democrats.

Alleged voter fraud from all parts of America is coming in daily. All allegations of voter fraud must be investigated, fully prosecuted, and upon conviction, imprisoned to the maximum of the law.

We remember the voter intimidation case in Pennsylvania in the 2008 General Election as New Black Panthers stood outside the election polls with a night stick and made many racial remarks to white voters. Later, President Obama’s Attorney General dismissed the cases of voter intimidation against the New Black Panthers even though all professionals in our Judiciary said it was an automatic win as the plaintiffs failed to answer the complaint.

The Obama Administration is now allowing “illegal activity” in denying members of our US Military to ascertain “absentee ballots” in time, delivered and received, as required by law. About one third of the 110 election authorities in Illinois have missed the September 18 deadline as required by the Federal Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act.

St. Clair County, Illinois which is seeking a waiver alone, allegedly, held up the mailing of 1,274 ballots until October 4. Other states in violation of the MOVE Act to receive waivers include Delaware, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Washington. There are more states in violation of the MOVE Act and are now denied waivers: Wisconsin, Hawaii, Alaska and Colorado, along with the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands. Approved waivers may deny voters, as defined, their right to have their votes cast and/or counted if returned late.

A Fox News Channel reports that City Commissioner Derrick Henry in Daytona Beach, Florida used a computer and allegedly “used to obtain dozens of absentee ballots prior to the city’s Aug. 24 elections, in which he was re-elected.”

One report in Houston, Texas, tells of an amateur group of citizens that uncovered a massive voter fraud group headed by Steve Caddle, an SEIU employee.

In Nevada, Republican US Senate candidate Sharron Angle is alleging voter fraud. Joyce Ferrara said she went to vote for GOP nominee Sharron Angle and Sen. Reid’s name was already checked. Others are providing the same problems.

In Senator Harry Reid’s own home Clark County, where some 75% of the Nevada’s residents live, voting machine technicians are members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). The SEIU supports Harry Reid and most all Democrats and plan $44 million this cycle and mostly on Democrats. Andy Stern, SEIU’s top lobbyist, is a frequent visitor at the Obama White House.

A voter in Craven County, NC reported that he went into the booth and voted “straight” Republican. The voting machine showed he had voted for all Democrats. In calling for elections’ support, the elections officer saw the same. After multiple additional tests several times, the machine continued to vote for all Democrats.

In June 2008, Alabama Secretary of State Beth Chapman said she had received reports of alleged voting violations in Wilcox, Lowndes, Jackson, Hale, Jefferson and Dallas counties. In Wilcox County, they had names of people who may have bought and/or sold absentee ballots. Prior to the June 1, 2010 Primary Elections, Secretary Chapman asked Attorney General Eric Holder’s Department of Justice for federal agents and poll observers for the Primary and General Election.

Wherever the ugly “voter fraud” arises, it must be investigated, fully prosecuted, and upon conviction, sent to prison. Voter fraud is a Constitutional violation of one of our most precious freedoms: an open election by qualified voters and having their votes to count.

  2. “America desperately NEEDS voter ID in all fifty states.” But why? It’s not to prevent vote fraud.

Despite the urban legends about ACORN and dead people voting in Chicago, the fact is that there is practically no voter fraud in the US. In it’s July 10, 2012 edition, the Harrisburg (PA) Patriot-News reported that “the Republican National Lawyers Association last year published a report showing 400 election fraud prosecutions had happened over a decade nationwide. That is not even one per state per year.”

Not even one whole case per state per year! That's what the Republicans say.

And here's the smoking gun: in court filings in the lawsuit brought against it for its voter ID law, the state of Pennsylvania made these stipulations:

“There have been no investigations or prosecutions of in-person voter fraud in Pennsylvania; and the parties do not have direct personal knowledge of any such investigations or prosecutions in other states.”

The state further stipulated that it “will not offer any evidence in this action that in-person voter fraud has in fact occurred in Pennsylvania and elsewhere,” nor will it “offer argument or evidence that in-person voter fraud is likely to occur in November 2012 in the absence of the Photo ID law.”

In other words, not only could they not find fraud that would be corrected by ID laws in PA, they don't claim it exists anywhere in the nation!

Implementation of these laws will cost PA taxpayers $8 million to correct a problem not even proponents claim exists.

So, why these laws? Pennsylvania Republican House Leader Mike Turzai, in a speech celebrating GOP accomplishments, provided the answer:

“Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.”

In my opinion, all citizens, whatever our politics, should be outraged at this attempted misuse of election law to gain unfair political advantage for one party over the other.
