Because That Movie Theater Was a Gun Free Zone

Gun Free Zone

It's too hard now for the survivors of the horrendous Movie Theater massacre in Aurora, Colorado yesterday to ask the questions they must ask.  But very soon they will have to face the truth if they ever want to be honest with themselves. What if someone with a gun had been there to fight off this murderer?  What if I had been licensed to carry? What if this movie establishment hadn't created a defense free crime zone???

According to AmmoLand Shooting Sports News . . .

Manasquan, NJ --(Ammoland.com)- As far back as 2009 pro gun activists had made Cinemark management aware that their NO Guns Policy was just creating a gun free zone where only the inncent and lawabiding would be unarmed.

“Headquartered in Plano, TX, Cinemark Holdings, Inc. is a leader in the motion picture exhibition industry with 459 theatres and 5,181 screens in the U.S. and Latin America as of March 31, 2012,” their website reports.

Cinemark owns the Century 16 movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, scene of last night’s mass shooting. Cinemark doesn’t allow anyone other than law enforcement officers to carry legal firearms in their theaters.

The ban hadn’t escape the attention of some of Cinemark’s law-abiding, gun-toting customers—even before last night’s homicidal frenzy…”

Boycott of Movie Theaters Growing

In the wake of the movie theatre shooting that took place in Colorado on July 19, a debate is growing between gun rights owners and those who support the banning of firearms. This long standing argument however, is now moving past the legal concept of one's rights under the Second Amendment, and into the sphere of economics as more and more gun owners seek to boycott companies that restrict firearms in their establishments. . .

. . .As Americans attempt to absorb the tragedy of those who died in Colorado this week, attacks on law abiding gun owners have also escalated into the conversation from those who wish to politicize the events done by one man. In response, many gun owners are taking the initiative to not only ensure their own protections by carrying guns in their everyday lives, but to also send a message with their pocketbooks that they will boycott public businesses that deny them the opportunity to express their Second Amendment rights.
