Rasmussen Reports reported yesterday (11.04.10) on a national telephone survey of likely republican primary voters. (To see the questions as they were asked go (HERE).) Basically they asked whom they would vote for if the Republican presidential primary were held today. Well, 20% said Romney, 19% said Huckabee, and another 19% said Palin.

The Rasmussen Report went on to say: “Rounding out the list of seven candidates chosen by Rasmussen Reports for the question, with their levels of support, are former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (13%), Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty (6%), Texas Congressman Ron Paul (5%) and Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels (3%). Seven percent (7%) prefer some other candidate, and eight percent (8%) are undecided.” (SOURCE)

When I read this report, frankly, I wanted to sit down and weep for my country.

Look, apparently the majority of republican voters have yet to learn that running the same old RINO (Republicans In Name Only) candidates is a recipe for LOSING. Did you get that??? I’ll say it again: LOSING!

Romney is a RINO. He cannot win. I repeat: Romney cannot win in a race against a democrat, ANY democrat. Huckabee will be laughed off the stage -- and Palin is pure poison, as is Newt Gingrich!

I don’t mean to be popping the GOP’s champagne bubbles while they are still celebrating, but as we say down south, “Them’s the facts!”

So who do I, in all my arrogance, think would make a good republican candidate for president? How should I know?? I’m just an ole country boy down here in the swamps of North Carolina.

But … since you asked …

I’m looking at Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey and Haley Barbour of Mississippi. Of course, with Barbour, we’d have the same problem we had with Bush II -- speaking skills. Oh, he speaks just fine for us southerners. See, some of us ole unreconstructed southerners still leave the “t” off words. It sorta makes our slow delivery of the spoken word seem to be a bit more – uh -- swift. (I have never understood how anyone could believe that a “fast talker” is a “fast thinker,” anyway. But, alas, people do.)

Now, allow me to hastily add that I know practically nothing about Governor Christy. All I know about Christy I have learned from watching him perform before press conferences in which he seems to out think the members of the press -- at every turn. (Not that it is very difficult to out think the press. As a former card carrying member of the press, I can attest to the fact that many, if not most, are not so much trying to get at the truth as they are trying to impress the other members of the press corp herd!)

I also like the manner in which Christie seems to have little difficulty in stating the unvarnished truth and make decisions that will ultimately favor the taxpayers of that extremely taxed state. He doesn’t seem to mind getting under the skin of the unions and anyone else feeding from the tax trough of the New Jersey treasury. THAT recommends him to me.

Barbour is a southern conservative. So am I. He is a southern gentleman. That means as James Dickey, the former poet laureate of my beloved home state of South Carolina, once said, a man “with a bible in one hand and a cannonball in the other.” He is equally ready to pray – or fight. You choose. And yes, Barbour is a southern politician. Chicago politicians could learn a few lessons from southern politicians.

Having said the above let me assure you, I am not locked into a choice for the GOP presidential candidate. Not by a long shot.

But, I will not hesitate to stress haste in making our selection – after much thought and reflection and, (and this is very important) thorough vetting of the candidate. Because whomever we choose the dems will be looking for even the smallest piece of dirt on him/her and they will not hesitate to use it as a blunt instrument to beat that candidate, unmercifully, about the head and shoulders, until he/she is no longer a threat to their candidate, which in all likelihood, will be Obama.

I expect that if Obama chooses to actually listen to his advisors he will make every attempt to stir toward the middle of the political spectrum and try to distance himself, at least publicly, from his extreme leftist philosophy and ideology. Should he win – again – he will drop the façade and go back to his first love, socialism, for America and his anti-colonialism views for America’s foreign policy.

We have learned, much to our sorrow over the past two years, that Obama is NOT HIS OWN MAN. He is his father’s man. Yes, his father was a socialist and an anti-colonialist who smashed his car into a tree and died.

All this aside for the moment, I am sorely afraid by not winning control of the US Senate the GOP has opened the door for one, or possibly two, new Supreme Court justices both of whom will be dyed-in-the-wool liberals. That would be disastrous for America. As they say: “Elections DO have consequences.”

In the meantime, we conservatives absolutely must demand that the GOP chose solid conservative candidates for both the office of President and Vice-President. If we do – we will win. If we don’t we will lose – again!

I watched President Obama’s news conference yesterday and came away with the distinct feeling that even after the “shellacking” (his word) the dems took on Tuesday, he STILL does not get it. Truth be told, I did not expect him to get it.

I watched a lot of TV the past two days, with emphasis on the news shows and talk shows, and I am confident that not only does Obama not get it, the democratic party doesn’t get it, either.

From my standpoint, that is not a bad thing. If the democrats truly do not get it, then they have just set the stage for the second tsunami of republicans to take over the US Senate and the Presidency in 2012.

Months ago, when Obama and the democrats passed the ObamaCare bill we referred to the democratic controlled Congress as the “Kamikaze Congress.” We told you then the democrats had just signed their very own political death warrant.

How did we know? Well, sans the crystal ball, we knew as the result of something Americans used to recognize as “common sense.” Common sense is sorely lacking in the American political community these days.

Yesterday, I watched the President tell America that his democratic party lost because he, Obama, did the right thing, but Americans misconstrued it as more government intrusion in their/our lives than we were accustomed to.

That is total bovine scatology! We did not misconstrue anything. We recogniose it for what it was and is – more government intrusion in our lives – and we DO NOT Like It – at all!

I cannot conceive of a man intelligent enough to be President actually believing that. I actually think he knows better and still thinks we are dumb enough to believe him when he mouths such strange and arrogant proclamations.

So, now he wants to work with republicans? Not a chance! That too, is more BS. He would like to be able to portray a persona in cooperation with the republicans while at the same time securing his bid for a shot at a second term in the Oval Office. If I could ask the president, I’d ask -- who is sitting in the back of the bus today?

Nothing changed Obama on Tuesday. Nothing. He is still a socialist. He is still a progressive, and he is still in the Oval office and he has a firm grip on the veto pen. Not to worry. He will get ample opportunities to use it in the next few months.

Already we are hearing calls from other republicans for compromise in order to get things done for the American people. I say no. No compromise with the democrats. If there is to be compromise, then it should be the democrats compromising with the republicans. So far as getting things done – I’m all for getting a number of things undone! The sooner, the better.

We hear members of the mainstream media decrying the possibility of the GOP shutting down the government if they do not compromise. I think that is a grand idea. I have never felt so safe as I did when the GOP shut the government down back in the nineties.

Government gridlock is a wonderful thing when that government is a detriment to the freedom of the American people. So, I, personally, am looking forward to months of government gridlock over the next two years as we wait for the election in November of 2012 when we can finally rid the government of the democrats in the Senate and in the office of the President.

Tuesday was just step one, just the beginning of the process. We conservatives knew it would probably take two elections to complete the process. It appears we were correct.

We DO expect the GOP to come out fighting, though. They made a number of explicit promises and they must make an honest attempt to fulfill those promises if they expect to continue enjoying the support of conservatives. We sincerely hope the Tea Party members of the House will light a fire under the GOP and then hold their feet to it when the going gets rough -- as it surely will – and in short order.

To our European readers, what you are witnessing here in America this week, Is American’s natural inclination to resist and overcome tyrants especially when those tyrants happen to be on our shores and in our government. Yes, we Americans screw-up as we did with the election of Obama and giving control of our government to the liberal-socialist democrats. We don’t hide our mistakes and we certainly do not suffer them lightly. We correct them.

Western Europe is my ancestral home. I am a mixture of Dutch, German, Flemish, French, English, and Scot-Irish – and Native American (Both my grandmothers were Native Americans.) I’m a mongrel, a mutt. But so are most Americans. We must be a complete enigma to you.

Americans truly believe that freedom is a God-given right and whenever we feel that right is under attack we rally and do whatever is necessary to defend and preserve that God-given right. We give no quarter to tyrants.

The battle has been joined this week to preserve America’s freedom.

Republicans won control of the House and cut deeply into the Democrats' majority in the Senate in yesterday’s election. The House speaker to be, John Boehner is reported to have said The election results were "a repudiation of Washington, a repudiation of big government, and a repudiation of politicians who refuse to listen to the people.” “Speaker” Boehner was spot-on!

Last night saw the largest turnover of seats in the US House since the 1940’s. Republicans captured at least 65 seats in the US House with some races still not decided and at least a few of those are expected to go over to the Republicans.

It was an historic event. Over in the US Senate, the GOP picked up at least six seats with a number still undecided.

The results of this election will be spun and re-spun by the democrats, but the fact is, it was a slap down of the Obama Regime and it’s socialist agenda.

Here, in North Carolina, voters cleaned the House and the Senate! Now republicans control BOTH houses of the NC State General Assembly. It is the first time since 1898 (get that?) -- 1898 – that republicans have controlled the NC Senate. North Carolina’s democrats received a “Cease and desist” order from Tar Heel voters.

All across the country, except for two or three deep blue states, the story was much the same.

It was the expected tsunami. It crashed upon the shores of Washington, DC resoundingly. Nationwide voters demonstrated their displeasure with the liberal-socialist democrats and handed control of the People’s House, the House of Representatives to the republicans -- just four years after the same voters had taken it away. This time the republicans will have a solid majority in the House -- one that can produce laws and polices that will be on the books for many years to come.

Out in California, one of those “deep blue” states, Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown returns to the governor’s mansion. That was no surprise and practically everyone understands now that California is a socialist state and hopelessly lost to the remainder of America.

Most Americans understand what is about to happen with California. One of two things must happen. Either America cuts California loose by revoking its statehood, or the American taxpayer must anti-up and pay off California’s bills, which they ran up through their own stupidity. Somehow, the latter just tends to tick me off.

If we bail California out, they will never learn their lesson and will, like the children they behave as, continue making those same dumb, infantile, mistakes over as the American taxpayer underwrites their idiocy.

And what of the Tea Party? It proved, last night, it is a force to be reckoned with. It solidified its position as the viable Third, or even second party, which now hangs as Damocles’ Sword over the heads of the republican and democratic parties. That, in my estimation, is a GOOD thing!

The Tea Party put the lie to the Mainstream Media’s claims that tea partiers were mean, and violent and mad as hell, etc., etc. Just as we knew -- NONE of that was anywhere near the truth -- except for the “mad as hell” part!

J. P. Freire of the Washington Examiner said this: “Violent movements do not do these things. They don’t show up at the polls and overwhelm the establishment in favor of a minority candidate, as in the case of Sen.-elect Marco Rubio, R-Fla. They also don’t lose so badly, as in the case of Christine O’Donnell. They don’t take on, and nearly defeat, the leader of the majority party in the Senate, at the same time as he colludes with casinos in a potentially illegal scheme to get out the vote in his favor. They don’t settle for a more liberal candidate in Illinois just because he’s the most electable.

The Tea Party understands, perhaps better than most, the danger facing America and they understand that America’s salvation as a free country is the founding document, the US Constitution and underlying everything they do is the demand that the US government follow the constitution. And for that they are called “wackos!”

We Americans have much work to do in the months ahead. One of the most important jobs facing us as a nation, as a free people, is to relieve ourselves of the millstone around our necks called OBAMA! We must begin, today, to lay the foundation for removing Obama from the Oval Office in 2012.

In the meantime, hold the feet of the republicans to the fire and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEA PARTY!

The campaign is over, now the work to restore the country begins

Whatever happens today, how the country moves ahead is critically important. The US is wildly off track, which is why the tea party movement, so hated by and frightening to liberals, sprang up and has drawn so many everyday Americans to their rallies.

You sometimes see the term “tea party” as a proper noun, however, while there are formal organizations using that name, the tea party movement is not a formal movement, but a series of mostly independent groups who rally in support of a set of common principles, but are not part of a single national organization.

The tea party movement, despite the lies and distortions made up by its enemies and dutifully reported in the mainstream media, is not a bunch of extremists or a bunch of racists, or Nazis or nut jobs with nothing better to do with their time. Of, course, every group or movement will have a whacko or two in it, but the number of such radicals among tea partiers is infinitesimal. And there is the occasional left-wing plant trying to discredit the entire movement. But all of that has been blown out of proportion by the socialist/liberal/statist members of the ruling class and media who correctly see the movement as a threat to their power and control.

From those rather rare efforts by respectable news outlets to find out exactly who tea party folks really are we learn that the vast majority of them are moms and dads and grandmothers and grandfathers, military veterans, doctors, lawyers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, housewives, police officers, fire fighters and other salt-of-the-Earth people. Many of them are white, but they are also black, Asian and Hispanic. They are people for whom political activism is a new thing, and many, perhaps most, of them have never attended a political rally before in their lives. They all see that their country is headed at high speed toward a ditch, but it’s a different ditch than the one in President Barack Obama’s little story he so frequently uses to excuse his administrations failures.

The President’s story omits that big government dug the ditch, built the road heading into it, and damaged the steering mechanism and brakes by excessive intervention into private sector activity. Some corporations took advantage of the contorted environment the ruling class imposed on them, and made a bad situation worse. Those corporations are not innocent of blame, but neither can they be given all the blame; they played the hand government dealt them.

No doubt some will quibble with that assessment, but an objective review of government actions going back to the Carter administration will bear that out. And that includes Congressional refusal to follow Bush administration warnings to clamp down on Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac starting back in 2001.

Among the grave problems that have driven the tea party folks to political protest, perhaps foremost in their minds, is the precarious level of spending and the insanely high national debt.

When George Bush left office at the end of 2008, he had increased the public debt by $2.5 trillion. The 2009 budget, created under Mr. Bush, but added to by Mr. Obama added $2.6 trillion to the debt, but Mr. Obama’s budget would add $4.9 trillion in public debt from the beginning of 2010 through 2016. That simply cannot be sustained.

Mr. Obama continually blames George Bush for the nation’s financial problems, but remember that Congress is responsible for budgets and spending, not the president, and Democrats have controlled Congress since January of 2007. Mr. Bush deserves criticism for not vetoing excessive Congressional spending, but Congress is responsible for the spending itself.

Tea party folks also realize something else that has escaped Washington liberals: that over-zealous regulation – 43 new major regulations in fiscal 2010 – is impeding the recovery and will cost taxpayers an additional $26.5 billion this year. And it’s not just rich people making more than $200,000 a year who will pay more.

It was during a long period of mostly free-market capitalism and relatively little government regulation that the United States rose to be the most prosperous nation on Earth, and today is the world’s only super power.

And so, whether today’s election produces a huge wave sweeping liberal Democrats out of office in sufficient numbers to give Republicans control of the House and the Senate, or whether it results in modest gains by Republicans and leaves one or both houses of Congress under Democrat control, the same course of action must be followed unless we want to see the United States diminish in prosperity and influence around the world, which would be a true tragedy.

That course is to restore sanity to government; to work to reduce spending, restore government to its Constitutional limits and scope, and get government out of the way so that the same American traits of ingenuity, hard work and risk-taking that built our country can be set loose to pull it out of the ditch that liberalism and leftist policies have driven it into.

This will require a new mentality in Washington, and constant pressure on our elected public servants.

Amnesty for Illegal Aliens Coming Up in Lame Duck Senate?

According to the Washington Times, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has promised to bring up the Dream Act during the lame duck session of the Senate when Congress reconvenes after the election.

“The Dream Act would grant legal status and a path to citizenship to illegal immigrant schoolchildren and to illegal immigrants who agree to serve in the U.S. military.” (SOURCE)

In the article by Stephen Dinan entitled: “Reid promises vote on aliens” the Washington Times says the following: “Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid over the weekend promised to force the Senate to vote on an immigration bill, the Dream Act, in a lame-duck session of Congress this month. The article goes on to quote Reid as saying: “I just need a handful of Republicans. I would settle for two or three Republicans to join with me on the Dream Act and comprehensive immigration reform, but they have not been willing to step forward," They want to keep talking about this issue, and I say [it] is demagoguery in its worst fashion and is unfair to the Hispanic community." This, dear reader, is just one of the things worrying me about this upcoming lame duck session of Congress.

If the election goes as expected, there will be a host of PO’ed Democrats prowling the halls of Congress looking for one last victory over their victorious conservative opposition. If Reid, as the Senate Majority Leader losses his seat in the Senate, he will be as dangerous as a wounded wolf.
Over the next few weeks we will have to be even more observant of Congress than we have since January of 2007. As we have often been reminded: Out of power, liberals are funny. In power – they are dangerous.

Over in the House of Representatives the story will likely be much the same. With Pelosi on the way out of the Speaker’s office, maybe into retirement, there is likely to be a good deal of vitriol. With tensions so high in both houses of Congress anything could, and probably will, happen. So keep your powder dry!

Today, itself, will be contentious enough. All sorts of mischief will be reported today. This IS Election Day. Tempers are high and fuses are short. There is bound to be some conflict before the polls close on the west coast tonight. I fully expect a number of races to be decided by the courts. In some states we may not know the results of some races for two or more weeks. The next few weeks will be trying for all Americans.

While herds of lawyers are standing by, for all sides in the election, eagle eyes will be watching the polls for any sign of anything that can possibly be construed as a slight, an irregularity, ANYTHING, that might have the slightest, the vaguest chance of nudging the results in favor of their candidate.

The news media will have battalions of reporters swarming polling places in states with high profile races today, as well. THAT will keep the pot boiling into the wee hours and maybe for days to come.

I downloaded a sample ballot from my state board of elections yesterday and went over it several times to be sure I was familiar with it before I even get to the polling place this morning.
I made a mental note of anything that would raise my taxes. I ALWAYS vote against a tax increase in any form. This election is no exception.

Now for a little fun… watch the reaction from the European press when, if all goes as expected, Americans deliver a HUGE repudiation of Obama with their ballots in this election. Make no mistake about it -- this election is a referendum on Obama and his Czars, in fact, the whole darned Obama Regime!

My polling place is approximately one block away from my home. I intend to be there when the doors open. I also intend to do something I highly recommend to all conservative voters today… PRAY before you cast your ballot. I am not attempting to impress you with my piety here. I am trying to impress you with the seriousness of this election. The survival of a FREE AMERICA is at stake today. The cancellation of the socialist agenda, at the ballot box, is imperative if we are to continue to live free in America.

Just as Joshua challenged the Israelites: “Choose ye this day whom you will serve” America has much the same decision to make some 7,000 years later. We can choose to continue to serve God, or we can choose to serve the state. Remember, socialism replaces God with the state.
America has been deeply divided the past few years but the overbearing socialist Obama Regime and the liberal-socialist leadership in the Congress has managed to demonstrate to those having difficulty discerning the inherent evil behind the socialist façade, in such an efficient manner, that a huge percentage of them have seen the error of their ways and are now ready to denounce the socialist path Obama and his minions set for America and now support a “free America” as intended by the founders of this nation.

Let’s Roll, America! Let’s take our country back – and let’s do it today!

The Creation of Obama's "Civilian National Security Force."

Consider this a warning concerning H. R. 5741 introduced in the US House of Representatives by Congressman Charlie Rangel, a democrat, of New York. The title of the bill is: Universal National Service Act.

According to the bill itself, its purpose is to: “To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes."

It is, in fact, A NEW Draft Bill. But it is much more.

You will learn that it brings back the draft -- and this time for both men and women between the ages of 18 and 42 years of age.

You will quickly realize that it creates, for President Obama, his desired "Civilian National Security Force."

Months ago, when I first became aware of it, Obama called it a "civilian national security force.” He is reported to have said that this “force” would be as powerful, strong and well funded as the half-trillion dollar Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force.

Here’s a quote from Obama’s speech in Colorado Springs back on July 2nd, 2008: The US "cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set." Obama went on to say: "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

This is a truly frightening bill. Under the Obama Regime, America has been transformed into a socialist state -- and now -- it would appear, we are set on a course that would transform America into a "POLICE STATE."

None of what Obama has proposed with his civilian national security force is new. Oh, no! We’ve seen it all before… prior to the Second World War. Now, however, with HR 5741 it could become a truly frightening reality.

This ought to scare America to death! The very fact that Obama would even propose such a thing ought to send Americans running into the streets to decry this attempt to bring back those horrible nightmares of Germany in the 1930’s and 1940’s.

We warned of the reformulation of militias within the US if Obama was elected. Well, the militia units are back, just as we predicted. They will be denounced and called “kooks” and “rednecks” by the socialist media in the US. But, for a moment, consider… if the media denounces them… oughten we to look into them for ourselves?

The Mainstream Media has proven time and again they will support the leftists in the country, yea, the world, while making every effort to destroy those who stand for freedom and liberty. Could it be those guys running around in the forest, in their camouflage suits, know something we don’t? Hey, I’m just asking!

We warned of the socialist background of Obama from, virtually, day one of his campaign. We warned that the mainstream media is so “in the tank” for Obama that they would not, and will not, report objectively on the man, nor his plans, such as the plan denounced above.

This HR 5741, the Universal National Service Act, is very serious, and very scary stuff, dear reader. You need to look into this and decide for yourself if America is ready to toss the constitution and our free capitalist society and bare our necks to the chains and the yoke of socialist slavery. For that is exactly where we are headed if we don’t call a halt to this insanity of accepting socialism gradually, incrementally, a little at a time.

Americans have a short time left to get to the truth. Will we? Not unless we, as individuals, dig it out for ourselves. We have the greatest library known to man at our fingertips… the Internet. Use it. We need to dig… and then dig some more… until we get the answers.

Our constitution and our country are too precious to lose through our own ignorance.

HR 5751, the Universal National Service Act, is an attack upon the freedom of all Americans. You NEED to read this bill for yourself. I seriously doubt you will hear much about it in the media. Read the bill, a fairly short read, and consider all the loopholes in it that would allow for all sorts of mischief by a Chief Executive of the US not particularly in love with the US Constitution. It will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up!

Please read this bill (SOURCE) and then contact your Senator, forthwith. It must be stopped if America is to survive as a free nation.
