PCUSA's 'gay' measures reflect 'modern paganism'

MINNEAPOLIS - An Orthodox Church theologian who was invited to greet the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has criticized its approval of non-celibate homosexual clergy.
The Reverend Siarhei Hardun of Belarus said that vote and efforts to approve same-gender "marriage" looked to him like an attempt to "invent a new religion -- a sort of modern paganism."
"Christian morality is as old as Christianity itself. It doesn't need to be invented now," he said of attempts to create what he described as a "new morality."
Hardun added, "When people say that they are led and guided by the Holy Spirit to do it, I wonder if it is the same Holy Spirit that inspired the Bible."
The Orthodox priest's remarks drew applause from conservative Presbyterians who made similar arguments at the gathering in Minneapolis.
No doubt it is paganism, but we have been seeing that for a long time now. They try to push this paganism into schools, on children as young and first grade, but in churches this has been coming slowly.
ReplyDeleteSecularism invaded churches some time ago with groups like the World Council of Churches etc. Then many denominations became more like social clubs than religious institutions, or places of worship.
Then the acceptance of gay bishops and pastors, female lesbian pastors, and here we are.
It's Sodom and Gomorah not in some way off city, but in church.

You are so right Debbie and it's so sad. We should all be held accountable as to how we stood up to this assault on Christianity.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would call it paganism, simply a lack of morality and standards. Then again, this has not been my grandfathers' PC for many, many years. We left it well over 30 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe PCUSA has always turned a blind eye to this sort of thing. We had a minister back in the mid- 1960s who was gay, shacking up with a local business owner who was also a church member. Everyone knew. I have some very good friends who are gay, but this man was vile, repulsive. When he was ordained it was known he was openly gay, and he was ordained in the PCUSA in 1959!
Anyone who thinks this has not been going on previously has their head in the sand. As long as there has been clergy, they have been practicing homosexuals. The only thing new is the good-housekeeping seal of approval.

Satan is alive and well in our Country now days,and this is most upsetting to me.
ReplyDeleteI was Baptized in 1959 as an Episcopal,then my family found Christ- they felt forced to leave and became Presbyterians. They then left the USA Church because of poor doctrine, and became active members within the PCA.
It seems to me that political correctness has become God, to many in the American Church today.
They call evil good, and good evil, and each one does what is right in there own minds!
These Ministers will be held accountable to God, yet it is sad we have thrown away the word of God, just to not offend anyone!

Ordaining homosexuals may or may not be pagan but that aside, the PCUSA is soaked in pagan practice: PCUSA worshiped and glorified animals dancing in the ailes at the opening worship servcie of their general assembly meeting in July 2010. What does God say about that? For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things… Romans 1:22 – 25.
ReplyDeletePCUSA offered prayers up to the goddess sophia and mother earth at their lastest general assembly meeting. Not only that, the voices of sophia (I refuse to capitalize anything to do with them) has their own organization, webpages, and meetings within the PCUSA church to promote this idol worhip. And the cherry on the top of this pagan cake? The new moderator of the PCUSA had a lovely breakfast with these unbelievers during the 2010 general assembly gathering, thereby showing her support. For those of you who don’t know, the moderator is like the president of the company – the top dog leader. What does God say about that? And God spoke all these words, saying, 2 “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 3 “You shall have no other gods before me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them Exodus 20:1-5.
