Fort Worth Tea Party Rousing Success

The lefty bloggers have already gotten an early start panning the Fort Worth Tea Party but those of us who actually attended saw quite a different picture. Crowds of hopeful patriots of all ages filled La Grave Field stadium, home of the Fort Worth Cats. The local MSM was there to cover the event including the ever present news helicopter circling overhead. The 10PM local news on at least two stations estimated the crowd in Fort Worth to be at least 5,000.

Featured speakers were: Kelly Shackleford, Honorable Bill Zedler, Jim & Vickie Middleton, Mark Christopher Frimmel, Marshall Sherman, Texas Governor Rick Perry, Congressman Joe Barton, Adrian Murray, Eric Wey, Brenda Silcox, and Stephanie Klick.

ANNA M. TINSLEY of the left-leaning Fort Worth Star Telegram accurately reported that “Gov. Rick Perry says secession is on Texans' minds.”

Although Perry made it clear that he doesn’t see the need to secede and isn’t advocating it, he said there’s no question that it’s on the mind of some Texans. That was obvious at tea parties around the state, where "Secede" was a popular sign slogan.

"Texas is a unique place," the governor told reporters in Austin. "When we came into the union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that.

"My hope is that America, and Washington in particular, pays attention," he said. "We’ve got a great union. There’s absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that? But Texas is a very unique place, and we’re a pretty independent lot, to boot."

Texas Patriot has provided an excellent overview and photos of the event held last night at Fort Worth Cats La Grave Field.

  1. Thanks for the update! The tea parties were great all over the country. I just hope we can keep or build the momentum.

  2. One of the Tulsa TEA parties (1 of 3) had about 3200 turn out. Governor Perry's comments gave an extra boost of adrenalin and confirmed the fact that we are our own people, and the Obama administration will not reshape and reform what America is to be.

  3. I write as a Briton, so my views do not necessarily carry any weight on American domestic issues. However, Britain and America share a history that asserts liberty and freedom. It would be a tragedy if the Union was to dissolve; America has a great role to play as a beacon of freedom to the world. However if, under President Obama, American liberty is attacked then a state like Texas should exercise its right to leave the union. In Britain we have the same problem as you guys – politicians are exceeding their bounds and interfering in our lives to an unprecedented degree. I think that your ‘tea parties’ are a great idea and we need to organise something similar over here. There are people over here who are promoting a concept known as ‘Lawful rebellion’ that relates to Article 61 of Magna Carta: http://www.tpuc.org/node/240 It does not appear to be having the mass success of the tea parties at this stage.

The yearning for liberty bridges the Atlantic and we are all confronted with political trends towards tyranny an d despotism. I wish you luck with your ‘tea parties’ and hope they help encourage the spirit of British liberty over here.

  4. Yeah but we don't really give a damn what the lefty bloggers have to say, you see, WE know the truth, and they wouldn't know it if it jumped up and slapped em in the face...

  5. Aeneas:
Your views as a Briton definitely do impact Americans. The great Thomas Paine, the current poster boy for America’s Tea Parties, was a Briton. We do share a very important history that cannot be ignored. I hope that what is happening in America will empower folks in Britain to do likewise. Keep us posted on the concept of ‘Lawful rebellion’. By the way, the figures are coming in and the Tea Party’s pulled 750,000 to 1 million patriotic Americans!!!
