Terrorists, Universities, and attacks on truth

Originally posted at Right Truth

There is a war on, yes, a war against Christians and against the truth here in the United States. Oh, it hasn't exactly been declared outright, but it's there. Our Universities seem to be at the center of the conflict. Everybody is worried about the different factions in Iraq and the Middle East going after each other with guns and bombs. What about the different factions here in the US going after each other. Somehow the truth about a situation and anything Christian has become the enemy.

Colorado Senator Ken Salazar has called Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family "the Anti-Christ of the world" (for demanding that he vote to end the filibuster of Bush judicial nominees). Senator Tom Harkin (D, Iowa) labeled Christian broadcasters "sort of our homegrown Taliban."

Howard Dean asks rhetorically, "Are we going to live in a theocracy where the highest powers tell us what to do?" No, we'll live in a Dean-ocracy where radical feminists, global-warming whack-jobs and the Brokeback Mountain Brigade tell us what to do.

In a profile piece in The New Yorker, Al Gore compared the faith of George W. Bush to Saudi Whabbism. In its May, 2005 issue, Harpers Magazine ran a cover story titled "The Christian Right's War on America." (The left demonstrates its commitment to the environment by recycling smears.)

And, last fall, seminal political thinker Rosie O'Donnell instructed viewers of ABC's "The View," that "Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America where we have (sic.) separation of church and state."

Speaking of fascists, when it comes to conservative Christians, the left takes a page out of the playbook of Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels, who confessed, "If you tell a big lie enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." [snip]

Ask yourself: Over what institution does the left exert the greatest control (even more than over Hollywood and the news media)? Answer: academia. Now, what institution most closely resembles a police state in its posture toward dissent? Same answer.

At American colleges and universities, Christian student groups are being told to renounce their principles or lose official status.

Conservative newspapers are burned. Conservative speakers are shouted down or assaulted with impunity. Students who vigorously challenge leftist dogma are suspended or expelled. Professors are denied tenure for failure to parrot party line. [snip]

And not just for politically active evangelical Christians, but also traditional Catholics, members of various Orthodox churches, Orthodox Jews and Mormons. (by Don Feder, read it all here)

"Mimicking the hijackers who executed the Sept. 11 attacks, insurgents reportedly tied to al Qaeda in Iraq considered using student visas to slip terrorists into the United States to orchestrate a new attack on American soil." (ABC 1/22/07)

The plot was discovered six months ago, roughly the same time that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, was killed by coalition forces. Sources tell ABC News that the suspects involved in the effort to launch the U.S. attack were closely associated with Zarqawi

The plan also came only months after Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda's No. 2, had requested that Zarqawi attempt an attack inside the United States.

"This appears to be the first hard evidence al Qaeda in Iraq was trying to attack us here at home," said ABC News consultant Richard Clarke, former chief counterterrorism adviser on the U.S. National Security Council. (emphasis added)

Although we may never know for sure, killing Zarqawi in Iraq could have prevented attacks here at home. Of course for those who believe there is no war only a "situation" to be solved this recently discovered plot is only more proof we need to come home and hide under the bed. As for student visas, maybe its time to exercise a little profiling and deny visas, of any kind, to individuals from the Middle East.

U.S. officials now require universities to closely track foreign nationals who use student visas to study in the United States. University officials must report international students who fail to arrive on campus or miss class regularly.

That is all well and good but I don't feel particularly secure knowing it's up to "university officials" to track these students. From September 2006:

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Thousands of students from Saudi Arabia are enrolling on college campuses across the United States this semester under a new educational exchange program brokered by President Bush and Saudi King Abdullah. The program will quintuple the number of Saudi students and scholars in the United States by the academic year's end. And big, public universities from Florida to Oregon are in a fierce competition for their tuition dollars. The kingdom's royal family -- which is paying full scholarships for most of the 15,000 students -- says the program will help stem unrest at home by schooling the country's brightest in the American tradition. The State Department sees the exchange as a way to build ties with future Saudi leaders and young scholars at a time of unsteady relations with the Muslim world.

I guess "university officials" can just tie bells around their necks.Degree of Madness , read more here

And then there's this:

With the constant cadence from the media, Hollywood, and my teachers that Conservatism was evil, it was hard to put my finger on it. Then it hit me; this constant barrage was the Two Minute Hate that Orwell was depicting in his novel! Through these mediums, I had prostituted my mind into the Liberal Party. The party has three mottos:

Your Enemy is Your Friend

Treason is Patriotism

Surrender is Victory

The Ministry of Truth is composed of the main stream media, Hollywood and the University. The main purpose of these institutions is to erase the past, and distort the present in the minds of the population.

One way this is achieved is through demonizing national heroes. [snip]

Another way of re-writing history is to disfigure national holidays. [snip]

Newspeak is the official Party language. Referring to things as what they actually are is strictly forbidden. [snip]

No official, clearly defined institution, with a sign above the door reading “Thought Police: third floor second office to the left” exists in America. Despite this, the Thought Police are extremely powerful. (read more at The Global Conservative)
