America DOES Need A New President. Only … Its NOT ROMNEY!

America DOES Need A New President. Only … Its NOT ROMNEY!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

Mitt Romney was in New Hampshire over the weekend shining his image as he endeavors to capture the republican nomination as the candidate for President of the United States. Problem is – conservatives, whose numbers basically control the nominating process; don’t want any part of Romney. (Count “yours truly among them!)

For at least two years prior to the 2008 presidential election we told anyone and everyone, who would listen, that John McCain would never be President of the United States. But, the GOP, being a heck of a lot smarter and far and away more intelligent and politically savvy that I, nominated the guy anyway. McCain went down in flames – and so did America.

I am going out on that same limb again to declare, here and now, that Mitt Romney, if nominated, will not be elected over Barack Obama in 2012. It just isn’t going to happen.

How can I say that? Easy. I know my people.

My people are the southern conservatives. No GOP candidate can be elected president without the support of the southern conservatives -- and Romney does not have their support and cannot get it … ever!

Why, you may ask, will southern conservatives not vote for a republican candidate in order to save America from another four years of Obama? Oh, that is an easy one!

We simply do not see how Romney is all that different from Obama. I mean – he DID sign into law a healthcare bill very similar to ObamaCare in his state of Massachusetts. He is a social liberal, and he is a Mormon. (Mormonism is not looked upon favorably in the South. I write this as I sit approximately two bocks from a Mormon “church.”)

No. Romney is totally unacceptable to southerner conservatives. Allow me to be as clear as I possibly can: I say again -- Romney will not get the southern conservative vote … PERIOD!

You may have noticed the mainstream media is promoting Romney’s acceptability as the GOP nominee. That, alone, should give every conservative voter in America pause.

Could it possibly be that the MSM wants an easy win for Obama? And believe me, with Romney as the republican candidate – the election WOULD BE an EASY win for Obama.

We all know the MSM is in Obama’s corner – all the way -- and we know, from experience, they will prostitute themselves for Obama and the liberal-socialist Democratic Party at every opportunity.

When the MSM becomes a “booster club” for Romney – well, we just have to turn our conservative backs on him and look elsewhere for a REAL conservative candidate.

Romney’s “new image” is supposed to lure us into voting for the guy. Now he is a “man of the people” sans necktie, and perfect hair. Now he is busy pressing the flesh amongst crowds of the great unwashed… etc. Down here, we call that “old wine in new bottles.” We see it for what it is -- and it is repugnant.

If Romney is the best the GOP can offer, my fellow Americans, we are in deep, deep, trouble.

Even in the very best scenario I can imagine, the GOP nominee will need every vote he/she can get. I mean EVERY vote. The Obama forces will be busing their voters to the polls in convoys. There will be a tsunami of democrat voters flooding the polling places to keep THEIR president in office.

Without the southern conservative voter NO GOP CANDIDATE WILL STAND A CHANCE.

So, republicans mulling whether to run for president take notice: You had better spend your time here, in the south, where the campaign for president will be won or lost depending upon the favor, or lack thereof, of the southern conservative voter.

We will not vote for you simply because there is an “R” by your name. We WILL NOT vote for you in order to cast a vote against Obama. We WILL NOT knowingly choose the lesser of two evils.

The southern conservative WILL vote for a candidate they believe in … a true conservative candidate. Any would-be GOP candidate having credentials less than 100% conservative might as well save the time, energy, and the money mounting a campaign for 2012. You might have a better shot in 2016. But frankly, I doubt it.

Another Recession Keyed By High Oil Prices?

Another Recession Keyed By High Oil Prices?
America Afloat On An Ocean Of Domestic Oil!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

If you are old enough, and wise enough, to remember the Jimmy Carter years then you remember the fiasco that was his administration. But mostly, you will remember the so-called gas shortage or oil crisis with vehicles lined up for blocks waiting to buy gas. Remember the days when you could buy gas and the days you could not buy gas?

Back in those days, I was a credentialed broadcast news reporter. And something did not “smell” right. After a few weeks of snooping, nobody was able to convince me the gas shortage was real.

I spoke to a propane gas dealer who told me, off the record, (when I asked about the shortage) that all his storage tanks were filled to capacity and he had rail cars sitting on the local tracks filled with propane and he had just been notified that more was on the way.

Around 5 AM, one morning, I, personally, pumped gasoline from a gas pump with a hand-lettered sign on it stating the station was “out of gas.” I knew the owner and had obtained the keys the evening before.

I heard of oil dealers renting storage space from farmers, in the tanks that would normally store the farmer’s fuel for his farm equipment. I was not able to verify that story, but I knew a number of dealers and I did not doubt it then -- and I do not doubt it today.

I also heard, and saw, tankers pumping gasoline into abandoned underground tanks at old, rural, (closed) filling stations in order to store their overflow of gasoline.

An area TV station filmed tanker ships lying low in the water and anchored just over the horizon from the near-by port. It was reported they were ordered to do so while the companies waited for gasoline prices to increase… then they would sail into port and off-load their precious cargo.

I was convinced then, and I am convinced today, that THAT gas shortage – THAT oil crisis – was manufactured. We were drowning in oil and gasoline. I saw too much, I heard too much, and I experienced too much to believe otherwise.

I have come to believe it was the first attempt, by the government, to force Americans to cut back on oil consumption -- to learn to do with less. See, America’s President was the DEMOCRAT, Jimmy Carter -- you know, another one who believes we must all learn to suffer equally, just like the current democrat in the White House, Obama.

The price of gasoline and other oil products is skyrocketing -- even as I write. The American consumer is being taken to the cleaners.

I don’t blame the oil companies for our current oil crisis.

Look. America is awash in oil. We’ve got more oil than the Arabs! But – our government won’t let us get to it -- and use it -- and flip the bird to the Middle Eastern Oil princes.

Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. To our knowledge -- none has been extracted. With this mother load of oil why are we still fighting over offshore drilling?

Now. Consider this: The U. S. Geological Service issued a revised report in April of 2008 (It hadn't been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in the area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota, western South Dakota, and extreme eastern Montana. Take a look for yourself. http://bakkenshale.net/bakkenshalemap.html

“The Bakken,” as it is referred to, is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe Bay, and it has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates the Bakken deposit at 503 billion barrels. This is light, sweet, oil that would be far, far, less costly to Americans than the oil we are importing today.

We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. We are talking more than 2 TRILLION barrels of untapped oil. Here are the official estimates: - 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia - 18-times as much oil as Iraq - 21-times as much oil as Kuwait - 22-times as much oil as Iran - 500-times as much oil as Yemen - and it's all right here in America -- in the Western United States.

Estimates tell us that that oil could satisfy America’s need for fuel for up to for 2,041 years!

You can read about this, yourself, at the US Geological Survey website HERE.

So what the deuce is going on? I mean, why the heck are we Americans sitting on our hands and not DEMANDING that our government “cut the cr*p” and allow the oil companies to dig, and drill, for all this oil? WHY is the US continuing to ship our treasure and our blood to the Middle East -- and to our unfriendly southern neighbors -- for oil?

We are on the cusp of back-to-back recessions with the second dip looming today. The cost to Americans for oil is threatening to push us over that brink and into a recession that will, most likely, become a depression even worse than the one or parents and grandparents experienced in the 1930’s.

Who’s to blame? First we blame the environmentalists and others (including the US government) who have blocked all efforts to aid America in becoming independent of foreign oil! And second: If we are truthful, we must blame ourselves, as well, for allowing those people so much power and influence in the first place!

I must ask: Why are we allowing a small group of people to dictate our lives and our economy, indeed, our future as a viable nation?

It is past time to fight back America. Demand that the US Congress defund the Environmental protection Agency right off the bat. Get rid of it.

Just as important is the necessity to elect a President with the cajones to override the environmentalist and open up America to drilling and digging for our own vast reserves of oil sloshing beneath our feet and just offshore and under the tundra.

Understand this: The fantasy of wind turbines and solar panels is just that – a fantasy. The hard truth is – America needs OIL, and lots of it, to sustain our economy -- and us.

The time is exceedingly short. America is facing ruin in a depression, which lies just over the horizon. We have to act now just to insure our survival as a viable nation. Even now, we may have waited too long.

R.E.S.P.E.C.T Obama Gets None!

R.E.S.P.E.C.T Obama Gets None!
America Is Embarrassed Around The Globe!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

The world no longer fears America. Obama has seen to that. We are, rightfully, seen as the paper tiger we were so often accused of acting like under former democratic presidents.

Nile Gardiner is a Washington-based foreign affairs analyst and political commentator. He appears frequently on American and British television and radio, including Fox News Channel, CNN, BBC, Sky News, and NPR. He had this to say in a piece that appeared UK based “The Telegraph” on February 28th, 2011. Mr. Gardiner said:

“Just a few years ago the United States was genuinely feared on the world stage, and dictatorial regimes, strategic adversaries and state sponsors of terror trod carefully in the face of the world’s most powerful nation. Now Washington appears weak, rudderless and frequently confused in its approach. From Tehran to Tripoli, the Obama administration has been pathetically slow to lead, and afraid to condemn acts of state-sponsored repression and violence. When protesters took to the streets to demonstrate against the Islamist dictatorship in Iran in 2009, the brutal repression that greeted them was hardly a blip on Barack Obama’s teleprompter screen, barely meriting a response from a largely silent presidency.” (SOURCE)

I could not agree more with Mr. Gardiner. It has been painful to watch the stumbling and bumbling of the Obama Regime to get as far away from the Arab Melee in the Middle East while, at the same time, “appearing” to be on top of the situation at all times.

It was so obviously contrived that only a lock step “Obamanite” could actually BELIEVE anything coming out of the Oval Office, the West Wing offices of the Obama Minions, or the pitiful Department of State. Secretary of State Clinton appeared strained, saddened, and not a little embarrassed, to be the face of the Obama Foreign Policy.

What a MESS!

America wanted change in November of 2008. By Golly – we GOT change!

As Mr. Gardiner points out in his piece in The Telegraph: “In contrast to Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, President Obama fails to see the United States as an exceptional nation, with a unique role in leading the free world and standing up to tyranny. In his speeches abroad he has frequently found fault with his own country, rather than projecting confidence in American greatness. From Cairo to Strasbourg he has adopted an apologetic tone rather than demonstrating faith in America as a shining city upon a hill, a beacon of freedom and liberty. A leader who lacks pride in his own nation’s historic role as a great liberator simply cannot project strength abroad.” (SOURCE)

If I were in church and my pastor said those words, I would have to fight the urge to leap to my feet and shout: “AMEN!” Mr. Gardiner NAILED IT!

Obama has worked tirelessly to get as far behind the curve on the Arab rebellion in the Middle East, as he possibly can. As a result he looks weak, listless, frightened, indecisive, pathetic, and – dare I say it – cowardly.

He has waited until the outcome of each of the uprisings was a given, before he stepped up to the plate … every single time. I have to believe that was by design.

Now, the egghead intellectual elites will tell us he was “deliberating.” Making sure the US would come down on the right side of the issue for the sake of history, etc, etc … ad infinitum.

Simply put: That is pure horse hockey!

Look. The US should never, never, never, elect an intellectual (of any political party) to the office of President. Intellectuals do not make good leaders. They make fairly good thinkers, but that is about all they make.

A LEADER makes decisions, on his feet, on the fly, based on the best information and intelligence he has at the time … and he ACTS … NOW!

Obama is incapable of doing that. We saw evidence of that when he simply was not able to give the order to shoot the Indian Ocean pirates many months ago and the commander on the scene, a military man, finally gave the order. It HAD to be done and it had to be done THEN … and Obama could not do it.

Obama is certainly not a leader. Give him a script, a lectern, and a teleprompter, and he gives a performance (with his oration) that would make the great ancient Roman orators green with envy. But, placed in a political position where he must take responsibility for his words, his actions, and WHOA! He can’t do it. It is simply not in him.

Heck, when the FRENCH are tougher than the US on Libya, hey, you have to flinch, red-faced!

Mr. Gardiner nails it again with this: “The Obama administration’s timid approach to foreign policy is the last thing the world needs at a time of mounting turmoil in the Middle East, including the growing threat of a nuclear-armed Iran, and Islamist militancy on the rise from Egypt to Yemen. US leadership is now needed more than ever, but has embarrassingly gone AWOL on the world stage.” (SOURCE)

That sums it up. Except to say … America will pay for this dilly-dallying by the Obama Regime. We will pay in ways we cannot imagine today.

Finally: I plead with the GOP … give us a conservative candidate for President with an actual possibility of winning in November of 2012. If we do not take back the office of President, America may not last until 2016! Yeah, it IS just that serious.
