Once Upon A Time ... ... J. D. Longstreet

Once Upon A Time ...
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

******************

How is it possible for a great American political party to be so out of touch with its constituents, so completely tone deaf to their wants and desires,  so separated from the reality of the world around them?

With citizens looped together into one vast globe encircling network of information and communication, how is it possible for the GOP to be so ill informed?

The Republicans are, today, set to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory -- again.

From where I sit, I can feel victory slipping away in the election scheduled for this coming November.   A loss of the 2016 presidential election is already a given.  We WILL have another democrat for President beginning January 20th, 2017.

How is this possible?   Americans, at least those who are politically aware, understand that America wants to be  --  YEARNS to be -- rescued from the Marxist agenda being so forcefully pushed through Congress by our Marxist President and a Democratic Party that is indistinguishable from the Communist Party.

The Communist Party has announced publicly that they will be throwing their considerable assistance to the Democratic Party over the next several months to aid the Democrats  in maintaining their hold on the US Senate in November.  Does that not tell you where the sympathies of the Democratic Party lies?  Of course it does!

Democrats are, in fact, Communists.  If you are a registered Democrat and you don't hold with the Communist agenda, the Communist Manifesto, then you'd better get thee hence, because you are consorting with communists!

The sickening thing is this:  The GOP has attempted, with great success so far, to adopt the old Democratic Party platform.  In doing so, they have managed to set themselves on the same course toward communism as the Democrats did, and they have managed to drive a wedge -- deeply -- between the moderate, liberal, and conservative branches of the GOP.  The wounds from this gouging seem to be fatal.

Let's face it , dear reader.  The Republican Party is as dead as a door-nail.  Those twinges of life we detect from time to time are coming from the conservatives in the Tea Party Movement who refuse to lie down and die.  In point of fact, THEY are the ONLY reason the Republican Party still draws a little breath today.

America desperately needs a conservative political party, and we need it yesterday.

When I say "Conservative" Party, I don't mean a conservative in the mold of Jeb Bush or George, or even George H.W. Bush.  They are are fine people, a lovely family, but they a are liberals to moderates on their best days.  THEY ARE NOT CONSERVATIVES, no matter what the hierarchy of the GOP would have you believe.

The GOP is unsalvageable.  It cannot be saved.  The establishment Republicans will not allow the party to be saved.  They don't want it saved because they either don't see a problem -- or -- they like what they see.

In any event, the GOP is no place for conservative Americans.  Conservatives need their own political party, a viable political entity.  Conservatives will never get it from the GOP.  Even now, conservatives within the GOP must do battle with the Democrats AND the Republicans.  As a result, conservative initiatives are smothered to death in both the US House and the US Senate and nothing of real value to the country gets done.

GK Chesterton once said that only dead bodies go with the current.  It takes live ones to swim against it. Many conservatives, like this scribe, have withdrawn from the GOP and are now enjoying status as Independent voters.  Many of us would gladly align ourselves with a new and viable conservative party that would take the battle to the Democrats -- and the Republicans -- while asking, and giving, no quarter.

NO wonder the story of the current GOP reads like a fairy tale.

For once upon a time in a kingdom far, far, away, there really was a political party that was different from the Democratic Party.   But in order to curry favor with the Mainstream Media,  and in order to be on the "A" list, invited to the best cocktail and dinner parties in Washington, they felt they had to lower their standards, compromise their beliefs -- and -- for all intents and purposes, sell-out their constituents.

They did all of that.

It turned out to be a Faustian Deal.

Like Faust, the Devil won't let the GOP out of its contract with him (not that they're making any real effort at  breaching that contract) -- and the immediate consequence is -- the death of the Republican Party.

So. We'll watch as conservatives fight like crazy to hold onto to whatever gains have been made between now and November and pray, pray hard, that the establishment "knot heads" at the helm of the GOP don't blow the whole deal by November -- as they are wont to do.
