I mean of course he could, and there may even be a legal technical point to be made that if his legal team advise him to he should - but as they are now in the hands of any number of Editors around the world - it would almost be a gesture of insolence to return the Lady Gaga CD allegedly used, knowing that these aren't "documents" as commonly understood - but chunks of encrypted electronic data scattered about the internet. There are people in other parts of the world who scream bloody murder about people for being witches responsible for the drought - - but just because a bunch of public figures say it's so doesn't make it so. America has a long tradition of Habeas Corpus - the rule of law - and although under the flag of the "war on terror" the Administration have beaten the crap out of the constitution - the constitution and the rule of law are still your best protection of liberty and freedom you love... indeed it allows you to write inflammatory drivel in a blog on the internet and not be targeted for assassination. Might be wiser to rejoice that such protections exist rather than saw off the branch of the 4th Estate you're sitting onAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6960732812801813184.post-64565277320215703092010-12-08T10:38:57.654-06:002010-12-08T10:38:57.654-06:00From whatI understand, the UK is honouring the Eur...From whatI understand, the UK is honouring the European Arrest Warrent. The warrent's use to to move Mr. Assuage to Sweden.

The US may request extradition of Mr.Assuage from Sweden (although I think the UK has to give permission).

One problem: The Espionage Act of 1918 states that the death penalty may be applied. Simple. EU Member States are not allowed to extradite someone to a country where they may face capital punishment. I cannot see how the Act could be used.

Of course, the US like most world powers are free to interpret the law in any way they see fit, so that it suits their needs: What is the point of having laws if these cannot be broken...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
